“Love this neighborhood bar and come here frequently when I’m in town. Have you ever wanted to have a chill time at a bar like the one from Cheers? Do you just want to have a drink where there’s no pretentiousness of a cocktail menu where you can’t even pronounce half the drink names? Do you want a bartender that’s actually friendly and will chat with you? This is it right here. You can tell lots of locals are here but also very friendly for new people. Lots of space to sit and tables. Pool and darts are lots of fun. Drinks and food are great and they have an awesome jukebox. You have to try this sandwich they have, Neil Clark, that’s Turkey cheddar sandwich. It’s amazing. Highly recommend! They even have trivia nights on some Wednesdays and I can’t wait to go next time I’m in town.“

“Ate there last night. Service was good. Manager Julie super friendly and welcoming. 3 of us had fish fries, 2 battered, 1 breaded. Large portions but a bit overcooked. Coleslaw portion small though. Broccoli with garlic butter had a topping that was a bit salty until I mixed it up. Delicious. Super attentive waitress. Never had to ask for a refill of ice tea she'd bring it upon noticing it was getting low. Wedge salad ginormous!! Almost entire head of lettuce!! Friendly staff and good service. Definitely going back for a 2nd try on the fish.“

The atmosphere is lively and very fun with all of the sports on TV. The food is good. The pizza was not my favorite personally, but I am definitely looking forward to exploring the rest of the menu as the season progresses.“

“Great atmosphere with very good pool players. Melissa(Mel) has a unique touch of service - she ensures every drink rests beautifully on a coaster. I have observed her overtime, and she's meticulously consistent at it. Even when you change seats, she brings you a new coaster. This subtle but professional etiquette makes her standout. Overall, service is excellent!!“

“I haven't been here since before Covid and they were on Titus Ave. It was family night for a fish fry. I remember them having the best fish fry's. We got 4 orders with fries and coleslaw. The fish fry's and fries were very good. The fish was a good size and very crispy which I really like. The fries were good. The coleslaw was terrible. Idk what they did to it but we couldn't eat it. Non of us ate it it was that bad. It sucks but I won't be going back for their fish fry just because of the bad coleslaw. We also ordered a appetizer of potato skins with was very good. Service was great. We went early and was served right away“

Noah hooked us up with some amazing meatballs and trash plate. Cover was $5. easy parking in the lot adjacent. Worth a night out.Parking: Lot adjacent has QR code parking. It's safe to use, but easier if you already have Google pay or Apple pay installed in your phone. (You don't have to have it, it just makes it easier)Whole night of parking was like $4. “The Angry Goat Pub may just be my favorite bar in Rochester. The food and service alone make this one of the best neighborhood bars you can find. As a self-proclaimed garbage plate enthusiast and expert, Angry Goat Pub is in my top 3 favorite plates in Rochester. The main difference between this plate and others you can find in Monroe County is that the homefries are swapped for garlic Parmesan fries, and the meat sauce has goat cheese stacked on top. It's just so good and filling- I had it yesterday and I still haven't felt the feeling of hunger in almost 24 hours. Also importantly, Angry Goat's kitchen is open very late, which is the perfect time to eat one of their plates. The service has also consistently been great. Sometimes at dive bars getting served on a busy night can be a hassle, but here we have been treated very well and served efficiently. There has also been live music here on a pretty consistent basis, but I haven't seen anything like that here. For those looking for a neighborhood bar in the South Wedge, this is definitely the spot to be. Street parking can be a bit of a hassle, so just be careful if driving in.“

Salinger's Bar • $
107 East Ave, Rochester

“The bar has fun arcade games and a good crowd. But I come from Pittsburgh and Philadelphia PA, where the music goes from hip hop to funk to country to soft rock to rap to reggae to golden oldies. It seems like salingers and all the bars neighboring it ONLY play county music.. and no one ever dances. Just a bar full of people standing around. But good staff and fun people. The nonstop country just gets old, but this seems to be a New York State issue, not just Salingers“

Cardtronics Fish & Chips •
1256 Mt Hope Ave, Rochester

“Recently stopped in for a fish fry. The size of the fish was as expected, but the breading (instead of being nicely browned, it was almost dark brown) was over cooked and had no flavor. The fries and cole slaw (could have used more) were great. On another visit, had the Rueben and it was one of the best I've ever had. Service staff is always wonderful!“
