“Our next DIS Local Spotlight takes us right into the heart of Downtown Akron to DeJuan's Downtown AkronDeJuans is located at 1 W Exchange St Ste 100 in Akron Ohio and is occupying the building that formally housed Bricco. There is also a Valet service available for $7.DeJuan’s was realized in a time of need, a need for a turkey pepperoni pizza. Founder and Owner, De’Juan Kelker was in search of a turkey pepperoni pizza and to his disbelief, local pizza shops did not offer turkey pepperoni. He was stirred to open a restaurant that would serve those with selective palates and diets and offer ALL TURKEY EVERYTHING. The unique concept made way for him to acquire the Downtown property, once frequented by many locals, and continue his personal preference of fine dining.DeJuan's is also making history with becoming Akrons very first black-owned fine-dining restaurant. To say I was excited to try this restaurant was an understatement. Let's get into it.First off the decor, aesthetic and atmosphere are breathtaking. Large glass windows look out onto the city while inside you're surrounded by brick and open industrial ceiling. The space gives vibes of upscale yet accessible without ever being pretentious. The color scheme is black and white which is just elegant enough. The space is also lit very well which I appreciate.The staff is out of this world. DeJuans may just have some of the best service in the country and that's not hyperbole. From greeting us at the front door, to our server Diamond who was world class, the experience was perfect. Our drinks never got less than half empty and Diamond gave excellent recommendations and made sure our experience was one of a kind. There was also a party of maybe 12 people behind us and he gave them the same kind of service. Very impressive.For starters we got the Turkey Chop Bites and the Southern Fried Green Tomatoes.Turkey Chop Bites are pieces of turkey breast that are cut up and then lightly battered and fried. When I tell you my mouth is STILL watering from these things. So insanely juicy and crunchy. They would be good as a Po Boy or in a wrap but they were great by themselves.The Fried Green Tomatoes were also perfectly fried and topped with a shrimp salad that was really tasty. Diamond recommended we try it with hot sauce and that was the right move.For Mains we got the NY Strip and the Turkey Burger.The steak was cooked perfectly and was seasoned so well with salt, pepper and garlic butter. It was so tender and cut like butter. The taste from the grill was also extremely flavorful. There's not much more to say because it was literally perfect.The Turkey Burger was a surprise. Given the size of the patty I expected it to be on the dry side. I was pleasantly surprised it was not dry at all. Beautifully seasoned and complimented by the garlic Aioli and the sweetness of the caramelized onions, this burger was DELICIOUS. I could definitely see myself ordering this again.For dessert I got a slice of cheese cake and figured it would just be a normal slice you get anywhere.Guys... It's not. They take a slice of delicious cheesecake and then they blow-torch the outside so it creates like this crust on the exterior. That process kind of softens the cheesecake and makes it almost melty and creamy. LORD HAVE MERCY. I almost ordered another one. So simple yet so amazing.Folks.. if you haven't noticed by now, I don't know what else to say. DeJuans lives up to the hype. It's worth every penny and more.This is one of those places that I'm truly hoping you make reservations and try as soon as you can. Not only is it important for us to support black owned businesses, but it's important we support GOOD businesses as well. Trust me. I won't steer you wrong.”

“My wife and I have been to a lot of steak places, but Lanning's Steakhouse has become one of our go-to spots lately. Here’s why we think it’s special:First off, the steaks here are always spot on. They’ve got this sauce that goes with the filet, and honestly, it’s just the right touch. We used to live on the east coast where oysters were a big deal, and we’re picky about them. The Blue Point oysters at Lanning's? Top-notch. They’re one of the few places we trust to get oysters fresh.They do a Caesar salad that’s a bit different from what you might expect, but in a good way. And those homemade croutons they throw in are amazing. I get the salad just to have those. Everything we’ve tried here has been great, no exceptions.What makes a big difference for us, though, is the service. The people here know how to take care of you. They get what fine dining is supposed to be like. Plus, they’ve recently remodeled the bar lounge area, and we really enjoy dining on that side of the fence now. It feels just right.The owners are around a lot, too. They make it a point to say hi, thank you, and make you feel like you’re more than just another customer. “Wow...drove in from the Columbus area and were blown away to find this incredible sushi down the street from where we were staying. The service was attentive and helpful. Tiffany was kind and wonderful. The miso soup was perfect, the sashimi deluxe excellent, and the No 1 Sakura yummy. We finished with the mochi. (I am generally not a fan of mochi but when you fill it with ice cream.. well that sort of changes things). Next time we travel "north" we will certainly stop again.”

I look forward to coming back and trying things from the kitchen. They have a small kitchen and do make small lunchtime snacks. The pastry section though. Small looks absolutely delicious. I wish I wasn't on a diet. There are rooms for private parties and the tables are spaced far enough apart offer a little bit of privacy. The art on the wall is fantastic. Food is freshly made, queso has a little kick to it and is excellent, quesadillas are delicious and full of steak. They even have their own homemade chips now. I got this to go and they really hooked me up with some extra chips and salsa too. This place is great.Some of the best and most authentic Mexican food I've ever had.I don't think their chips are homemade, but everything else definitely is. I had their quesadilla and it was loaded with steak and cheese, and was very flavorful, well seasoned. Cheese dip is pretty good too. Definitely need to come back to try some of the other things on their menu.”

“I have wanted to stop and eat here for at least 25 years and never did until today. It looks exactly how I imagined it looked 35 years ago, which is perfect. Classic diner with great wait staff and quick wait times. Came for lunch on a Friday and got right in around noon. Had the bacon cheeseburger and it was easily one of the best burgers I've ever had. My friends fish sandwich was good too. Will be back again!”

We brought a cake and he delivered it to our table at the perfect time! Drew truly helped make the evening perfect and memorable. We thought the service would be great as the waiter seemed friendly. However, the service was average. Not once did our waiter (his first name has been mentioned in other reviews recently on your page) come back to check on us to see if we were enjoying our meal, nor did he ask if we needed our drinks refilled (including water) until it was time for us to leave. We noticed that he went to other tables multiple times that were seated after us. We were very disappointed. If I return in the future, I will ask to be seated in another section.”

The young man who was there was eating 3 tables, handling carry out and likely helping in the kitchen. I got tired watching him, but he never stopped being courteous. The dishes were some of the best that I’ve eaten recently, each seemed freshly prepared. This will be my new stop for Shrimp Fried Rice (Highly recommend)The only negative would be due to them being understaffed. There was around a thirty-five minute time frame between the first person at my table being served and the last person getting their entree. “My husband and I eat from here quite often he gets the grilled chicken salad and I get the club burger add mushrooms and mine is by far the best burger in the area it's triple the usual size and has all the fixings so it's gigantic and I use a fork and knife fries are good as well but eat them fresh when they're cold -they seem greasy . My husband's salad is also a monster that takes him 2 meals to finish completely I don't care for the way it's made and portions of chicken to lettuce but he gives it a solid 8 of 10 only food item I say for everyone to avoid is the country gravy it's a disappointment looks purple and clearly a generic can ed substance it ruined the whole plate it was on for me I refuse to order breakfast simply because of it I don't know why fresh made isn't available .. we take it home so I don't know on atmosphere -the 2 employees I've dealt with are ok and polite most of the time it seems they're overworked and exhausted 90% of the time so it's a toss up for me I'll update in future.”

“Well, in all honesty, I didn't even eat there. I had been driving for over an hour and had a few Mean Bean coffees during the drive. Knowing the area well, as I have lived around the area for several years, I decided to do something about the knocking on my kidneys. So I stopped in and utilized the McRestroom. It was as clean as it was small and properly stocked with essential TP, paper towels and working air dryer. It even had a Mc Baby changing station in the mens McRestroom. I often wonder how many men actually use the McBaby station to change a baby (into what I'm unsure) and not for use of street pharmacuticles and price tag removal. Things that make you go "hmmm"?. Anyway, I digress, after answering the knock on my kidneys I was walking past the cashier and who had a HUGE smile and asked me if I wanted a Mocha Frappe that was accidentally made and was going to be thrown out. Yes she was a cutie I must admit. I said "Absolutely, I appreciate it. You didn't happen to accidentally make a Big Mac combo meal and a order of chicken nuggets with sweet n sour sauce by chance did you?" She giggled. Then she said "Hold on'". Went in the back and returned with a McBag and the Mc frappe , handed it to me and with a sly grin she said ," sorry for messing up your order." I replied " Ehh, no problema, mucho gracias." When I opened the McBag in the car there was basically everything I didn't order and alot more. Grinning and shaking my head, I walked back in , waited my turn in line. When I got up to the cashier again, she smiled and started fidgeting, I asked her name. She told me. I said "well Ms. ..." and handed her a folded $20, "I accidently put my name and number in there, talk to you soon".Vegetarian options: Mocha Frappes should be considered a Vegetarian drink.Kid-friendliness: They have a McBaby changing Mcstation in the McRestroom, can't get much more kid McFriendly than that. They are, however, new to the bar owner game and have some things to learn. Taking a class of Bar Owning 101 should help. If you visit Redstone and the owner (wife) is your bartender and you order a cocktail, be prepared to help her with it. My buddy ordered a vodka tonic and he had to help her with the ingredients. I know, I know, vodka tonic. She was super sweet and with a bit of help she made a quality vodka tonic. Becky and I were having bottled beer/canned White Claw, so no issues. “We came in last Sunday. We had been here a few times and I must say this was one of the best. Our server was very nice and on top of things for us. Lena is think was her name. We could tell they were busy as it seemed there was only 2-3 servers on. Our food was not long on the wait. The manager changed a TV for us so my buddy could watch hockey. We always have had problems with other places never changing TV's for us. He asked us how our day had been and just seemed to really care about us being there. Dan was wonderful and made sure, it seemed that everyone was having a nice time. I will definitely be back soon. Wonderful Irish food.”

They have soo many great smoothies to choose from though the Strawberry Extreme with added Raspberry sherbert is one of my favorites along with the Elight 8 I know that one seems like it has a lot of different ingredients in it but it all comes together soo very deliciously! I go to this Pulp all the time along with my family members and we've never had a moment or order where we've complained about the item. They're like the busiest restaurant on the E. BEST smoothies AROUND ? ? (P.S. they get REALLY busy so don't get all worked up if you're there during their busy hours. I've been there both when they are busy and when they're not. When they're not busy they're very fast, no problem whatsoever. When they have a line, I've been there waiting 10-15mins at the most. Here's the thing, they use FRESH ingredients. They have to make your smoothies from scratch. It's not burger patties and fries already cooked up, ready to go like McDonald's. They don't have a machine that spits it out for you like some places that serve smoothies and/or milkshakes, those ones aren't nearly as good OR healthy, belive that! Also, they have only so many blenders which I personally noticed which is why you'll sometimes see the workers cleaning in the sink in the back instead of making more orders. They're not ignoring you, they're only ensuring that the blenders are clean for each person's smoothie so don't be bogus. Don't you prefer that they take the time to clean them even though you have to wait a bit longer? They're doing their job. Go when they're not busy or deal with it. I'm a patient person and at least I know that EVERYTHING cannot be INSTANT GRATIFICATION ALL the time guys!)”

My husband didn't want the crab served per the menu with the sauces and so forth. Kelsey went to the kitchen to make sure that his scallops were "unadorned"and he was happy. I had the perch and it was excellent as was the salad which was surprisingly, for a simple side effects salad, very good with the white French dressing. We had a very nice evening at The Ramp.”

“My husband and I eat from here quite often he gets the grilled chicken salad and I get the club burger add mushrooms and mine is by far the best burger in the area it's triple the usual size and has all the fixings so it's gigantic and I use a fork and knife fries are good as well but eat them fresh when they're cold -they seem greasy . My husband's salad is also a monster that takes him 2 meals to finish completely I don't care for the way it's made and portions of chicken to lettuce but he gives it a solid 8 of 10 only food item I say for everyone to avoid is the country gravy it's a disappointment looks purple and clearly a generic can ed substance it ruined the whole plate it was on for me I refuse to order breakfast simply because of it I don't know why fresh made isn't available .. we take it home so I don't know on atmosphere -the 2 employees I've dealt with are ok and polite most of the time it seems they're overworked and exhausted 90% of the time so it's a toss up for me I'll update in future.”
