When Covid struck, they shortened their hours, and since then, they still aren't serving lunch. The last I looked, they open at 4:00.

My favorite sushi spot! Great service, helpful staff. Couldn't be happier with them!

Akai Hana brings a fresh, authentic taste to dining in Columbus. We were welcomed by not only a wonderful staff, but also a signed picture of one of our favorite baseball players, Munenori Kawasaki. The restaurant was relaxing and comfortable, and our waiter was very patient as we struggled to decide among so many good options. We decided on a noodle dish and bento box, and neither disappointed. We look forward to coming back for many times to come.

It was pretty good years ago but it’s just not authentic Japanese cuisine anymore

Excellent food. Great service. Wish they were open for lunch. Sushi sets the standard. I've never found better. Best meso soup. You can shop at the market after your meal and take some of the flavors home for later.

We heard great things about this restaurant so wanted to give it a try. This was probably the worst sushi experience. We ordered 5 specialty rolls. The rice was dry and reminded us of jasmine rice with no flavoring (no vinegar/salt/sugar.) It was also warm/hot, which made everything soggy and break apart. It was terrible from a taste, presentation, and flavor perspective. We were also seated before two tables and were ready to order. They took care of the other tables before us.

Food was amazing. Atmosphere great. Staff was nice, only critique is that we had a party of 8 and we did wait a while before we had our orders taken. Other than that everything else was great.

Very busy on the weekends so I highly recommend making reservations. Still, we didn't end up waiting for long. Everything was delicious! One of my favorite places in the Columbus area!

Think you have to go to California for authentic Japanese? While Akai Hana has "Americanized" sushi etc on the menu, they also do excellent sashimi dishes and tempura as good as anyone. Sure, I'd love to be enjoying this in Kyoto or at the fish market in Hakodate, but to find this level of quality on the eastern fringes of the American Midwest? Akai Hana scores big. Great staff at the sashimi counter, so definitely try to get a seat there.Low carb? Keto? Carnivore? Paleo? Akai Hana has choices and choices to suit your personal nutritional style!!Dietary restrictions: Low carb friendlyKeto friendlyCarnivore friendlyPaleo friendlyParking: Parking available on both sides - the Japanese market side and the Kenny Center side.
