So much flavor in everything we tried. The wait staff was top notch. Our server Kevin was very attentive, checking on us to make sure all was ok and if we needed anything. There were also a few others that stopped by to see how we were doing and chat with us since we drove 250+ miles to eat there. They made us feel very welcome. I can’t wait to go back, it’s so worth the drive and I’m hoping they build one closer.”

“We had a fantastic evening at Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse, Columbus! Everything was perfect from the greeters at the door, the entire wait staff, the beautiful live entertainment, the appetizers (Rachel made a suggestion for us as we couldn’t decide between two, and it was perfect - she gave us each one huge shrimp and one Oyster Rockefeller), the wedge salad (which we knew there was no way we could each eat one, so she split it for us before bringing it to our table - and the blue cheese in that dressing - OMG!!), our filets were perfectly seared and the Mac and Cheese was to die for even though we could only eat a spoonful as we were too full! The wine we chose was from Corison Winery which we visited when we were in California and met the awesome owner, Cathy Corison! We loved the wine and try to find it everywhere we go! If you haven’t tried Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse in Columbus, you are definitely missing out on an absolutely perfect evening and dining experience! Their attention to every little detail is amazing! Cannot wait to go back! Definitely a 5 star restaurant!”

The food was elaborate in concept and after each dish was served I found myself saying “this is my favorite” every single time. By course 5 we declared we would be back. I also really appreciated the touch of whimsy, with the cute chopstick holders to the lego figures in the bathroom and the foreign candy that was served with the check. It just felt so sophisticated while still being a place you could relax and just enjoy good food.”

“I’ve had J’s Sweet Treats cakes on a number of occasions over the last few years and I’ve consistently enjoyed the cakes, thoroughly. Most recently, I contacted them for a birthday cake and they were able to accommodate me in such short notice. I sent an inspo picture and what I got in return was exactly what I asked for. My cake tasted just like I hoped and it was such a nice touch for my day and they were really able to make it special with my last minute request.

“Excited to have finally been able to try Comune. This is an upscale vegetarian restaurant with many vegan and gluten free options. It's not a full tasting menu but is set up similarly with many delicious small plates to share, mains, and amazing desserts. They also have a lot of fun cocktails and it's in a cozy, romantic atmosphere with dim lighting and lots of greenery. Definitely on the expensive side, but great for a date night or a night out with friends.”

I chose the Chai Spiced Impaler 12% as it was the meanest on the menu, followed by the Chocolate Strawberry Impaler 11%. Both reminiscent of the well finished stouts I enjoyed at Great American Beer Festival 2024, much like Fremont Brewing's BBADS series.

We split the Dirty Caesar salad and enjoyed the fantastic house bread to start. The salad dressing was incredible. I don’t like green olives but they were large pieces that were easy to eat around and move to my husband’s plate (he loves them!). We also split the hanger steak with the bordelaise sauce. We ordered the steak medium rare and it was just perfect! The fries were perfect for sopping up the fantastic bordelaise sauce. I can without a doubt say this was the best steak I have had outside of Paris. I am eager to try the other butters and sauces offered for the steak, but the bordelaise was so good it is going to be hard not to order it every time! My husband was thrilled to find 1664 on draft, as it was his go-to beer choice on our honeymoon in France years ago. I enjoyed an absolutely spectacular glass of Beaujolais that was very reasonably priced and paired perfectly with the steak. We were already thrilled with the ambiance and the service and the food and drink at this point, but when we mentioned we were celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary they poured us glasses of champagne on the house, which really made us feel special and taken care of. We finished the night with the Peach Melba for dessert, and I was absolutely blown away at the quality of each ingredient in this dessert and how it was plated. I was sad to hear it is leaving to make room for a new fall/winter seasonal dessert, but I am a sucker for seasonal menus so this just got me excited to come back and try next season’s dessert! If it is anything like the Peach Melba we had, I am certain I will love it. This restaurant is a little bit above our normal eating-out budget, but by splitting plates and eating at the bar we were able to enjoy a truly luxurious experience that made our anniversary truly special this year.
