“Deborah Li is not only an artist but an actual wizard, and Kuro Neko Cake Studio is her tower of magic. My wife and I were lucky enough to commission a cake from Kuro Neko for our wedding, and it turned out that one of the best parts of the whole reception was telling people that, yes, it really is cake! (I'm still not sure that my wife's grandma believes us.) When we asked for a book cake, we knew it would be beautiful, but upon seeing it the morning of, we were absolutely blown away. The colors, the sculpting, and how it all fit together as a piece of art left us without words. And, somehow, it tasted as good as it looked. As for the process, Deborah was wonderful to work with: attentive, keen to get the personal details just right, and fantastically friendly and supportive. “Sometimes I don't think about recommending some thing that's been around so long. My 50 year old niece used to love to go to this place when she was a kid. I've been taken nephews and cousins and my own children here forever. Their chocolate ice cream is my chocolate Favorite, the kids love the chocolate cones! And I must say the service there is good because it seems to be like we spent about 1000 years in there to spend five dollars per kid lol and nobody else got impatient except me. Yes, her pastries are out of this world and I could wax poetic on them - specifically the sweet potato one, look if you know you know - but this review is for the absolute masterpiece of a wedding cake that she put together for us. Because we’re long standing customers, we actually ended up doing both the spring/summer and the fall/winter tasting boxes. There is no wrong answer here, every single cake she makes is delicious, but we ended up going with the pretty traditional almond raspberry with the raspberry jam.
