It was my daughter's birthday and we were really looking forward to celebrating it!! The restaurant was freezing cold, the waiter was inefficient, the food was not the greatest for the money that was charged!! All in all I wouldn't return for an underwhelming experience!! Very bad service and the Caesar salad tasted disgusting I might just add!!

Excellent dining spot to see the city of Portland, Mt Hood and Mt st Helen's. Food is fabulous. Excellent gluten free menu so felt safe as celiac. Could be a special occasion place or just out to dinner. Nice wine list. Exceptional service.

As long time visitors to the Chart House, my wife and I have long admired the establishment for its impeccable service and culinary mastery. We used to treat ourselves to something special; the melted lava cake and beautiful city views. However, our recent visit left us with mixed feelings as we reminisced about the exceptional experiences we've had in the past. We were warmly greeted and seated promptly, a testament to the restaurant's continued commitment to hospitality. However, we couldn't help but notice a slight departure from the perfection we once knew. The presentation of our dishes, while still appealing, lacked the pristine attention to detail we had come to expect. There were subtle signs of wear and tear, with plates bearing water stains, faint grease marks along the edges, and water glasses showing traces of previous use. While the flavors of the food were still enjoyable, they didn't quite reach the heights of excellence we remembered. Even the melted lava cake experience is but a warm brownie dessert and ice cream, compared to the hot melted chocolate lava it used to be. It's clear that this is a place of rich history and a legacy of culinary brilliance; its packed attendance speaks volumes to it. While our recent experience may have fallen short of our expectations, it in no way diminishes our appreciation for what this establishment has achieved in the past. With a renewed focus on quality and attention to detail, Chart House has the potential to once again dazzle diners with its exceptional cuisine and warm hospitality. We look forward to returning in the hopes of recapturing the magic that has made this restaurant a beloved fixture in our community for so many years.

I've always enjoyed this place. I've come here explicitly on special occasions. The view is gorgeous especially on a spring early afternoon when the sun is just right. The service is fantastic with what seems to be the right level of revisiting to be helpful and non-suffocating.Food looked wonderful and tasted good. I'm still trying to give fish tacos a chance but it isn't working out. I'll need to keep looking for the fish taco for me. But the cider-esque beverage I ordered was crisp and refreshing. My lobster bisque was different but flavourful. I'll need something in the future to dull a bit of said flavor, it was a little much for me but still quite an experience! The meal others had looked amazing and worth trying!

I always request sitting in Jaramy's section because he's the best server there. He knows the drinks we like and will offer food suggestions if we're uncertain about what we want to eat. We've probably been dining at Portland Chart House for more than 20 yrs.

We love eating at the Chart House for special occasions. The food is consistently excellent and the service is outstanding. The view is wonderful rain or shine. We highly recommend it!

Everything was really very good. However, my wife's dishes were sub par. She said the tuna sushi lacked flavor and her salad was sweet. An unexpected, not desired flavor for a chopped salad. I would also add that my steak was a bit over cooked. Still tender and juicy but I asked for medium and it was definitely medium well-well done. No pink. Jeremy was excellent for our table service. The kitchen seemed to slow down after the app came out. It seemed busy for a Sunday so that might have something to do with it. It's a great spot and we'll look forward to going back. Perfect? No. Excellent? Absolutely.Parking: Valet is complimentary.Kid-friendliness: Kids menu and lidded drinks. If you know, you know.

The view was spectacular and our server Lacey was wonderful and nice. The meal itself was good but not memorable. We had the Caesar salad, NY strip with Asian green beans, and for dessert we had the lava cake & mud pie. The mud pie is a classic but the lava cake didn't have the hot chocolate lava oozing out when we broke into it. The ambiance is wonderful. It's a fun place to dine.

We had a little wait to be seated and then we were seated close to the bar downstairs. It was my wife's birthday and I wanted it to be special. I asked for another table and within 10 minutes they had another table for us that was much better! Thanks! The food and service were great from that point forward. I had Salmon and it was cooked perfectly. My wife had mahi and hers was cooked nicely. Presentation was awesome and sauces were tasty.

This restaurant has been a favorite in my family for some years. We chose it recently to celebrate the year anniversary of our matriarch's passing. She'd dined there and loved it. It was a lovely way to celebrate her. As always, the food and service were spot on!

I went there for a double-birthday celebration meal. The weather was nice and clear with very few clouds, which afforded a wonderful view of both Mount Hood and Mount St Helens, if you are sitting at the right table. Otherwise you would only be able to see the side of a mountain on the other side of the trees. We arrived too early for valet parking and parked ourselves, in a very narrow space, but I am told there is usually a valet parking. (I think we arrived shortly before 3:30 pm?) I believe there was 1 (unisex) bathroom upstairs and 2 (mens & womens) downstairs, both clean & stocked up. I didn't see an elevator so my thinking is that the downstairs area is not handicap accessible if you have problem with stairs or are in a wheelchair. We decided to start downstairs to peek at the happy hour menu and maybe munch off of it before we went upstairs to our reserved table, and although the bartender acknowledged us when we first got downstairs saying "go ahead and take a seat anywhere", we found a lovely table for 4 next to the window, but we sat there for 7 or 8(?) minutes (which feels like 20 minutes in ADHD time) without getting a menu or a glass of water or even eye contact from any wait staff. There were 4 tables which I believe was technically only 3 parties, and of the 3 parties downstairs we were 1 of the 2 that were getting ignored while all of the attention was being showered on the 2 tables next to us. We saw lots of wait staff moving around and punching things into computers and a lot of drinks and food being moved, but we couldn't make eye contact or get any acknowledgment so we got frustrated and decided to just go upstairs and have our meal and perhaps return back downstairs if happy hour was still going, after, so that we could peek at the menu and look at the options and pricing and hours (I'll post pic as of this date.)After we went upstairs I decided to eat a lovely mahi mahi fish meal special with a peanut sauce of some kind, which came with sticky rice in the shape of a pyramid. It did not look like sticky rice (longer, moist grain) but it tasted like it was seasoned to perfection. I thoroughly enjoyed my entire meal although I packed some away to finish at home so I could leave room for dessert and perhaps food downstairs afterwards. My date had a chopped salad without a protein added and he said it was good, but it looked kind of boring to me. Next time we go there, we'll ask for a table a little further to the south. The view of 2 mountains (the very reason I chose this restaurant) were hiding behind the trees while sitting at the third table from the left by the windows. I did not like the table placement, in regards to the view, but we had a fantastic waiter that was very patient with all our movements and questions a, and he was attentive, without hovering over us too much. My only problem with him is that he remembered it was my birthday but he kept forgetting it was the other person's birthday at the table also, but he did not speak up about his birthday himself. I did try to remind the waiter twice it was both of our birthdays, that we were celebrating, but that didn't really matter much, it was a minor thing, overall. We did end up going downstairs for happy hour afterward and ended up sitting at some tables over by the fireplace in the back of the room, and we enjoyed some coconut shrimp and some fish tacos, while finishing off the bottle of wine that we had from upstairs. The view was still pretty phenomenal even from the back of the room. I tried to take picture with my phone of the downstairs bar area but since it was so bright outside it's a little hard to see the inside, but it's the view I was trying to take a picture of. I will post those 2 photos. We did end up getting service within 5 minutes of sitting down once we went back downstairs. He was very friendly and made sure to check in with us to see if we needed anything more, he brought us everything we needed, and provided service with a smile. It was a much better experience hea

Very reliable restaurant with great location, great view, and great ambiance. The food is good, but not special. I had the blackened salmon, which was tasty, but really didn't have much of a 'blackened' taste. The lobster bisque was outstanding. The calamari was good, but not too flavorful. All in all, good food, great location, decent value.
