“Took our kids here while visiting San Antonio. Very delicious. All the kids commented that it was better than regular ice cream. My son even went back for seconds with his own money. Would definitely visit again. Wish I had one in my own town.“

“I am new to Austin and am lucky enough to live a stone's throw away from Manolis. We have gone 5 times since moving so it's finally time for a review! Manolis is genuinely my favorite spot in Austin. First, they have a wonderful variety of sweet treats. From ice cream (dairy and non dairy), to pastries, sorbets, milkshakes, and coffee, there is truly something for everyone. Everything we have ordered has been absolutely delicious. Second is the service. There are few places I have been where I feel more welcome than Manolis. They are passionate about what they serve and make every person who comes through feel like a regular. The owners are genuinely some of the kindest people I have had the pleasure of meeting in Austin and they deserve business. Third is the location! Can be tough to get around the 290 construction but Manolis is worth every minute of your time. The complex has covered picnics tables, heaters, games, and a playground. It's cozy, charming, and a great place to sit on a beautiful night. If you are on the southwest side, GO TO MANOLIS. If you live in Central Texas, GO TO MANOLIS. Heck, if you live in Oklahoma, it's worth the trip. They are open Friday-Sunday and I look forward to their tasty treats all week. I will support this business for as long as I live here!“

“Kurty's Cookies has the absolute best cookies! We first tried them at an event and were so blown away by how incredible they tasted and they were still warm. Fast forward almost a year and we used our sleuthing skills to find them and hire them for our wedding! Every guest at the wedding and in the weeks following raved to us about the cookies. They were the highlight of our wedding! And Kurtis and Eric were excellent about providing a variety of flavors but also the BEST gluten free cookies we have ever tasted! Thank you for making our special day the best!Dietary restrictions: They offer a gluten free cookie, which is hands down the best GF cookie I have ever eaten! For reference: both my husband and I both have family members with celiac or gluten intolerance... so we have tried a lot of really bad GF cookies over the years. Kurty's gluten free option is PHENOMENAL!“

“We stopped by late this morning to treat my 3 year old to a cupcake. We got the strawberry cupcake and vanilla cupcake. They were both delicious! The shop itself is cute and the staff are very friendly. Next time I will have to try the blue velvet.“

“Fantastic coffee, sweetest baristas, the food and vibes are immaculate. Love the vinyl DJs there everyday and the back garden space is so cute. I learned that they do so much to work with and support local musicians and music non profits. It’s the cutest little treat shop in Austin with a lot of heart cause they sure do TRY HARD! ☕️✨☕️Are the prices a bit steep? Sure, but it’s reflective of a business trying to make a difficult change in an industry that’s been operating on not paying folks what they are worth for a very long time. Will for sure be coming back here! ???“

“I have always cherished the authentic culinary delights from Phoenicia Bakery & Deli. Among these, the homemade kibbeh has always held a special place in my heart. Its perfect blend of finely ground meat, bulgur, and spices, all lovingly hand-shaped and cooked to perfection, offered not just a meal but an experience that spoke of tradition and quality. Recently, I've noticed the shift to offering frozen kibbeh, and while it serves as a decent substitute, it doesn't quite capture the essence of the fresh version. The frozen kibbeh, though convenient and satisfactory in moments of craving, lacks the freshness, the distinct textures, and the warmth of homemade kibbeh that I've come to love and expect. I understand the challenges and pressures that might lead to such a decision, but I can't help but express how much the homemade kibbeh is missed. It was more than just food; it was a testament to the care, authenticity, and culinary excellence that Phoenicia Bakery & Deli represents. I kindly urge you to consider bringing back the homemade kibbeh. Its return would not only delight many of your patrons but also reaffirm Phoenicia Bakery & Deli's dedication to providing genuine, high-quality cuisine that connects us to culture and tradition in every bite. Thank you for taking the time to consider this request, and I eagerly await the day I can once again savor the unparalleled taste of your homemade kibbeh.“

“I love uppercrust, but ever since they changed the bearclaw recipe, I've been disappointed... it was better before. It was tender and bready and chewy and had a good amount of filling. I think they changed it to the croissant dough, and I love a croissant, but it doesn't work with the bearclaw for me! They had a special and unique thing there that nowhere else had, and now it's always dry, kind of tough, and sometimes the filling is just a log of cream cheese and somehow a log of intact (not melted) chocolate. At this point I'd rather go somewhere else than face the disappointment of my favorite pastry in austin being gone. I've given it so many chances since the recipe change and it's just not what I want! I loved it before!!! Change it back pleeeeaaaasseeeeeee. They have a lot of other great stuff though... their coconut cream pie has a layer of chocolate between the crust and the filling and the whole thing is delicious.“

“Small little store.Their cinnamon buns are insane. Super big and shareable. Sweet yummy snack or breakfast bun.Always greeted as soon as I walk in. Friendly service. You just pick your cinnamon bun and they heat it for you. You can tell them not to heat it if you want it for the next day. And it heats well the next day and is still delicious. Haven’t had a bad cinnamon bun. Everything is so good“

“Lovely little corner coffee and bakery shop. Staff was so kind and exuded warmth in such a genuine way. ✨️ The atmosphere is bright and cheery yet cozy with magazines, soduku book, fresh flowers and good music. The bakery goods were all so appetizing to look at it made it difficult to choose what to get. I ordered an Americano with suger free vanilla and a splash of 2% and oh my goodness! The flavor of the coffee was so rich, yet creamy with a hint of bitterness but in the best way. The kind of coffee you sip and enjoy all morning - strong, flavorful and absolutely amazing. I can't wait to return and try the Turkish coffee and to continue supporting this lovely local business.“

“I'm extremely picky about my desserts, having started my career in baking, and especially when it comes to cheesecakes. I'll rarely attempt to order one off a menu at this point, given how many poor examples I've had throughout the years. The Celia Jacobs Cheesecake Experience, however, gives me hope. Why is no one talking about this little trailer camped out at the Thicket Food Park? I had never heard of it before and wouldn't have thought there was a single option, but lo and behold, they offer over 15 different flavors that are 100% plant-based! What's even more mind-blowing is how FANTASTIC they are. I tried the tuxedo (AKA chocolate and vanilla swirl) which far exceeded all expectations. It's creamy and rich, dense but not cloying, sweet but not sugary, served chilled for a refreshing grand finale on a warm spring evening. Flavors vary and now I just want to stop in everyday to try all of them.“

“I recently spent 5 days on a girls trip to Austin, a city I had previously only visited once, like 7 years ago. Since that trip, I have viewed Texas with a nearly singular goal of revolution--uh, I mean, trying Texas-style kolaches. So imagine my glee when a kolache and beer establishment presented itself as an option?! We tried to go one afternoon, but kolaches were in seriously limited supply, so we returned the next morning. I had a little bit of the ol' vacation gut, and it was relatively early, so I didn't partake of any beer, but their selection, which featured a variety of Czech style beers, looked really good. If I go back, will definitely try one or three of them. What I did have and enjoy, however, was a delightful oat milk latte as well as some kolaches. Got a veggie sausage & gouda, four cheese (which was split), and a strawberry & cheese, which most resembles the kolaches you find in the Czech Republic. My companions got a jalapeño cheese and a couple of meat options, which I did not try. But lemme tell you: that shit was good! Airy yet indulgent, substantial but not overwhelmingly so. Very good. Service was prompt and friendly, the spot is very cute, and they have great souvenirs to take home and prove to your friends that you had what is, perhaps, one of the best kolache experiences in Texas*. (* As previously stated, I have been to Texas exactly two times, both trips to Austin, so the veracity of this last statement should be taken with a significant chunk of salt.)“

“85 degrees has the best taro bun! Their pastries are delicious; however, not being much of a cake lover - My partner surprised me with a variety of sliced cakes which was perfect for me. The tiramisu was fresh, very bold, and would go very well with coffee. The mango cheesecake was refreshing, but not so much my preference and as for the strawberry layered crème, absolutely delicious. What a surprise!85 degrees never disappoints. Every time I am in Austin, this is always a place on my list to drop by before making the drive back home. I can’t wait for your opening in San Antonio!“

“Great neighborhood spot for pastries, breakfast, and tacos. The food had that homemade vibe, and the prices were just right. Our table salsa had a pleasant spice and the guacamole was fresh and simple, which is my favorite. The tacos were on homemade fresh flour tortillas which is hard to find in Austin for some reason. Perfect for a casual breakfast or lunch with friends and family.“

“The place looks very clean with a plain and simple decor. It got busy after I arrived in the later morning; the staff was friendly and they handled the customer volume very well. The restroom was out of order, so when I needed it, I was S.O.L. (pun intended). I came only for a donut; I bought one and a coffee. The donut was fair, but nothing to write home about. The coffee was not good. They have a few standard bench tables where you can sit down to eat. They also sell some hot foods like kolaches. There are also two large drink coolers with a fairly large selection of beverages, including milk.“

“We were so happy with Michelle's Patisserie for our wedding cake!!! We are foodies so the cake was really important to us. We tried about 6 different cake shops and Michelle's cake tasted the best BY FAR. Plus, we found it to be a huge bonus that her cake was even priced lower than a lot of the competitors that didn't taste as good. They were very friendly and easy to work with and the cakes looked beautiful! We had so many people come up to us at the wedding and say they ate multiple slices because it was so delicious.“

“Absolutely delicious “Burridoughs” and scones! We ate breakfast here twice on our vacation and it was incredible both times. We also got a cookie and it was also very good! No indoor seating but a couple tables outside, or it’s a great place to grab some food to go. I highly recommend stopping here!“

“Best chocolate chip cookies (when warm) in Austin, and really, most anywhere. we have bought the cookie dough twice, most recently earlier today. Very easy to follow instructions and they come out perfect. It is important to let them sit a bit where they will be overly soft. Bought this fudge like cookie/brownie that's also phenomenal (and very dense, in a good way). This place has a variety of cookies, and I believe they also have some hot and cold drinks, but have not tried those yet.Friendly folks at the counter. Inexpensive would not be a word to describe this place, but the cookies are so good, my comment would be "oh well, deliciousness comes at a price sometimes."“

“I was craving mochi donuts so bad!! Tomas suggested this place so I immediately checked them out. Small local business is a plus! They are currently doing a pop up at Dia's Market on Friday and Saturday. You have the option of pre-ordering your order for pick up. Be sure to check their social media or website to find their location. I ordered the following six flavors to try: strawberry shine, mangonada, ube rainbow, vanilla with crunchy chili oil, birthday cake and classic chocolate. They were soft with a chewy texture...perfect. Flavored beautifully. She provided me the instructions for warming them up for the next day. They were still good the next day. Very fresh and made with quality ingredients. They were all good, but if I had to choose one flavor I really enjoyed the mangonada. Yum! This was definitely a good spot for mochi donuts. Check them out.“

“We came in trying to cut thru the parking lot and deceided to stop in. It was our first time even though we lived in this neighborhood about 12 years ago. When you walk in it smells like bread. They bake everything everyday and when they are out of something it is out. My daughter wanted to try the morning bread but apparently we took too long and it was snatched up. I ended up getting the Spinach Feta Danish which was good. It was the perfect blend of spinach and danish. I didn't think it would mesh but it did. I also got the Caramel Apple Pie which I eat later. My daughter got the Foliage Sausage Bread which she loved. It was soft enough that it didn't mess with her braces and she said it felt she was in another country. She also got the Vanilla Cream Doughnut which she had immediately after the sausage bread and she loved it. I tried it and it was better than any doughnut I have had. I also got the Honey Lavender Matcha Latte and I will say I have tried matcha at a couple places trying to figure it out. I think I found the one I like. It does pick up bc as soon as we got ours the place started picking up. They have tons of seating inside and outside. They offer free wifi but I had no need for it. They have signs advising to that since it is so fresh to eat same day or within a day. I can honestly say that this would be a hike from S Austin that I am willing to take. We will definitely be back so my daughter can get that morning bread and so I can try more.“

“I'll definitely return here. Their desserts look incredibly delicious, especially the "Eat My Feelings" one, which called to me. I'll have to come back just to try that one out. The cheese danishes we purchased were perfection. I had mine the next day, reheated it, and it was still delicious. The cream in the middle was just right--neither too dry nor too moist--and the Danish part was wonderfully flaky. Not to mention it was also massive. They also host events there, like the lively trivia night we saw during our visit. This place looks fantastic, and I'll be back to try more items from the menu. “If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. My son and his fiance decided to elope, but invite a very few people. This all was happening very quickly, and they live out of town, so I decided my husband and I would do a taste test of chocolate and white vegan cupcakes. You can read below more on our taste test at the bottom of my review, but ultimately, we chose Fat Cats. I ordered a rainbow white vegan cake with vegan buttercream frosting and strawberry compote along with a dozen chocolate vegan cupcakes with raspberry compote. Ordering was easy, communication was great and everyone was so friendly when I picked up. The cake was lovely, but when the bride and groom cut into it and everyone saw the rainbow layers, the 'oooo's' and 'ah's' were epic! Everyone loved both the cake and cupcakes, they were a definite hit. I don't think anything was left on anyone's plates. So, here's more on our taste test. After securing recommendations, checking out Reddit and checking online, I left the house with five places to pick up cupcakes. Fat Cats just happened to be the first I stopped at. Jacquelyn overheard me chatting with her staff and came over to visit with me. She was super friendly and really seemed excited to help make the kids' day great. I bought both chocolate and white vegan cupcakes. The second place was closed. The third place only had chocolate vegan cupcakes and said they don't make white vegan cupcakes, so I passed. The fourth place said white vegan cake tends to end up being gummy, but she would make one, so I bought one chocolate vegan cupcake. The fifth place, I bought both chocolate and white vegan cupcakes at another well known vegan place. At home that night, I cut the cupcakes up and we tasted them. I knew immediately I liked the ones from Fat Cats best, but wasn't sure if I was prejudiced because Jacquelyn and her staff was so nice. Hubby said for sure they were the best tasting. The chocolate cupcake we got at the fourth place tasted like it was burnt on top and the frosting was just ok. The cupcakes from the fifth place had frosting that tasted odd, and they were not as fresh tasting. Finally, I might add that I picked up an everything bagel and cream cheese for the bride, and she liked it. It's a cute place! While I'm not personally vegan, if I lived in the neighborhood I think I'd be in here frequently.“
“These are the best empanadas I’ve ever had. Light, airy crust, the meat is juicy, and filling. I’ve been to Spain and Mexico and these are some of the best. “I have very strong gluten intolerance, and I love this place for their GF options. They may not be many, at this point in time, but I like them all. It's very hard to find a bakery that does GF options, especially on a top tier pro level. My favorite is the chocolate chip cookies(when you can get them). If you didn't know they're Gluten-Free, you wouldn't be able to tell. The GF Brownies are my second choice, and regular choice. Then when I'm feeling fancy or need a switch, I go for the Almond Cake. The flavor is delicate and lightly sweet, almost honey esque. Looking forward to them adding more GF options. And then if I could also request Lactose-Free addition, that would be choice and I would spend more time here than I already do.This spot is definitely worth it. And I'm happy to support them. ????Dietary restrictions: Gluten-Free Options“
