“We visited 2 days in a row! We had the pleasure of enjoying the tamales and they were the best ever. My family couldn't resist buying their own after sampling mine. We didn't stop there but enjoyed the fresh fried fish dinners. Even the side orders were delicious. Our repeat visit we purchased food for us and other family members and they also loved it. Ending up sending my sister and her husband there too! This is a must that will become a favorite. It doesn't hurt the owner is super sweet. Come out for southern deliciousness, comfort foods and hospitality. You won't regret it nor break the bank!“

“When I’m in houston i’m always bigging my back. I made the drive to this food truck and it exceeded my expectations. Food was made to order but I called ahead for a headstart. Food came out piping hot and fresh and didn’t take long at all! I had the honey garlic dry rub fried chicken wings, regular chicken wings, and fried catfish & shrimp. I sampled all 3 dishes and it was phenomenal. Seasoned and fried to perfection! Would highly recommend and will be back again!“

“Had mommy/daughter lunch date here with my 7 yr old. We ordered oxtail empanada, oxtail plate with greens and yams and catfish basket with plantain chips. The oxtail empanada was amazing, tasty and meaty. The my 7 yr said the oxtail needed more seasoning but the gravy was good and I agree. The yams and greens were perfectly cooked and tasty. The catfish was crispy and seasoned welled. The plantain chips were tasteless and too hard. I understand they were chips but it was fried too hard. We will return bc overall it was good.“

“Looking for a good spot in Houston for something we can’t get in Cali and came across Love’s. So glad we did!!! The food was fantastic. I got the boudin balls and the chicken and sausage gumbo and my girl got the seafood fries and the voodoo eggrolls. Everything was packed with flavor and spice and well loved all of it. “I recommend that they stop serving old hard fried chicken wings & large thighs w/all that fat on ToGo orders so when U drive all the way home you're stuck with a bad order. I bought 3 orders Fifth Ward Specials $36.60 & 1 Red Bean w/Rice + 1 Macaroni w/Cheese $6.69 which was not good at all. Tasted old & we don't live very close by but my church is near by & does a lot of business with Frenchy's but for me & mine we will not do business with Frenchy's. This was at your East Fwy. Store“

“The BEST soul I have ever had the pleasure of eating. I appreciate y’all and all you do to make the most amazing greens I’ve eaten. 10/10 would recommend to anyone with tastebuds. Not a single thing on that menu will disappoint you! And do not forget the banana pudding because it is cherry on top to the whole meal.“

“Services is superior because the cook greets you with a hug. I purchased the chitterlings and pig feet with cornbread dressing and macaroni and cheese. It was delicious. The second time I went, I had pig feet. This is definitely the best homecooking and soul food that I have had in Houston.“

“Such a good place. 2 plates cost less than $20 and the chicken was fresh off the fryer. Chicken wings and stripes were the best I've ever had. The pancakes were so fluffy and soft. Definitely will be back soon. Make sure to order I'm advance because it did take 40 minutes to get our food, but it was worth every minute.“

“I didn't take a picture... my phone died. Walking in there is a security guard, so I'm not sure what goes on as I'm not that familiar with that side of town. The food looked pretty good, it's layed out buffet style. You can dine in or takeout. It was two of us so we tried fried catfish it was edible, but not hot enough. That's what happens because it's not cooked to order. Won't do that again. The fried chicken was okay. The cabbage was good. The broccoli casserole was really good, so was the sweet potatoes. The rice n gravy was decent. Chitterlings are not good at all. And highly priced. If you lazy and don't wanna cook or can't, then go here. Other than that I would stay home and cook.No shade intended. Do get a piece of cake and a daiquiri those where on point.Parking: It's a lot of businesses so parking is not the best, and the parking lot looks sketchy.“

“This is a really neat place! Came in town with my family and they wanted to try a new restaurant they heard about. We loved everything but had some disconnect with the catfish . They were so pleasant and willing to re-make. Even after the re-make we still didn’t like and they offered us to change our order which was very accommodating. The young lady never stopped smiling or being helpful. The cashier kept checking on us and even the owner came out to apologize. We expressed our concerns and he was he very willing to listen. He was super nice and very professional. This place deserves everything and more for exemplify such great service!“

“What a beautiful establishment. The food was so good. Friendly as well as helpful staff. For what I ordered, which was baked fish with a creamy sauce and shrimp, 2 sides, banana pudding, cornbread and water. It ran me 23.00 plus tip. It was worth every penny. “My wife was craving pupusas but I was craving pollo asado so we ordered both.The pupusas were big and stuffed with cheese. The curtido had the perfect “pickled” taste. The salsa was tasty with a kick!The pollo asado plate fed us both and we had enough left over for a second round each. The pollo asado was very flavorful and the smoked sausages were a nice surprise. The rice was good and the charro beans were delicious. They had a good amount of sausage and bacon in them.“

I’ve work for this company for 2.5 years now; like I joke with the owner like you gone have to bury me in my TGS fit ?, bc I’m here to stay for a long time. “This is a very hole in the wall, no frills restaurant. It is very old school and you order and take your food to go. Seems like one of the few actual late night places (closes at 3am). The owner, I assume ms betty, has a very get shit done attitude, which I enjoyed. She RUNS the restaurant and will tell you what's up. I'm sure her attitude can be off putting but she chatted with me and gave my partner and I free sodas. Turns out she's an immigrant from Macau and had been in Houston for 35 years, so hats off to her! Foodwise, they have burgers, wings, and various dinner platters all at very affordable prices. I got chili cheese fries and a hamburger and both were excellent. The fries were crisp with nacho cheese sauce and chili on top and the burger was very large and tasty. Definitely a spot I'll be returning to when I have cravings in the middle of the night!“
