I came here after it was lunchtime on a weekend. There was no wait. The staff were friendly and checked up on me pretty often. The food, I went for what was recommended. I especially liked the roti canai. I wanted to get more of the roti to dip in the delicious sauce. The salted egg calamari was prob not for me at first since it was a unique taste. As I ate more of it, I started to like the flavor. Unfortunately, some of the squid pieces weren't cooked through. The beef rendang had a good amount of spices and I liked the slices of cucumber on the side. It was refreshing and gave my tongue a break from the tender beef. It's a small restaurant but there are space enough for parties of probably 4-6 people at a table section. There is space in the middle to walk through.

Went out to try a new place and was not disappointed. We were immediately treated with a friendly welcome and seated. We had the jasmine tea that was served in a metal teapot and Malaysian Milk tea that went well with our meal. The waiter made some suggestions and we decided to start off with small wontons and some really good fish skewers in a red sauce that was flavorful. We also tried the Chicken Curry Noodles that had came in a large portion, half a chicken , and Beef Rendang for the win! They came with fresh sliced cucumbers and we had steamed rice that paired well with the sauces. He also brought us our own small bowls in case we wanted to share. Superb service! Overall had a great experience trying Malaysian food and will return again !

An absolute hidden gem for the best Malaysian food! The dishes we ordered were beyond amazing, and the service is wonderfully attentive. Their chili oil is a game-changer, adding the perfect kick to the stir fry noodles. A must-visit for any foodie.

I’m sitting in the Shangri-La La hotel in Sydney Australia eating their Mee Goreng for Valentine’s Day and wishing it was as delicious as Sambal Chef.

Their food is usually decent but I'm a bit disappointed in their quality lately. Their curry puffs used to be pretty big but now they're so tiny, probably half the size they used to be and at the same price. And now I just bought a wa tan hor which is not a cheap dish, and I find it full of artificial crab meat (instead of a bunch of different fish balls like it normally would be) with 3 pieces of shrimp and some squid. In fact, what I got doesn't even look like the picture on their site. I'm so disappointed. I wish they had at least called to tell me that they didn't have all the ingredients of this dish and gave me the option to switch. I guess I will have to go to Chinatown for better value and a more authentic dish now.

Food is excellent here - fresh, authentic Malaysian cuisine. I've eaten here dozens of times and quality is always top notch. You can tell the chef/owner cares deeply about delivering the best and takes much pride in their cooking. Would definitely recommend if looking for a taste of Malaysia!

I had a great lunch at Sambal Chef, a Malaysian restaurant in Pearland. The food was amazing, especially the soft shell crabs. The portion was generous and the price was reasonable.Overall, I would recommend Sambal Chef to anyone who likes Malaysian cuisine or wants to try something different. It was a satisfying and enjoyable experience. I will definitely come back again. ?
