“Super-fun experience at the culinary experience at the Essex Resort in Essex, VT. Our instructor, Denise, led us through the recipes and techniques to create a wonderful Vermont dinner that included roasted root vegetables, braised chicken (in dark beer and demi-glacé) with shallots and a variety of mushrooms, and a lovely kale salad. We were given the opportunity to decorate autumn themed sugar cookies as well as dip tiny apples into a luscious caramel coating. A small group of 9 students made the experience very intimate. Our meal was served with wine and fresh bread accompanied by an herbed compound butter. Denise was a perfect instructor and I would recommend the experience to anyone who loves to cook.“

“Our new favorite! Our son was diagnosed with Celiac this year and we were hesitant to eat out. Jules has been wonderful for our whole family (mom, dad, 5 year old and 18 months old). It is a little quieter atmosphere which made me nervous the first time we went but the staff and other patrons have always been so kind and welcoming to our kiddos and small amount of chaos they bring. The gluten free menu, including kids menu is excellent and the staff is knowledgeable. The desserts are a highlight (we are fans of the gluten free carrot cake). “As not one for Indian foods, this place surprised me! The food was some of the best in the area, and not even limited to just Indian cuisine. The love poured into each dish shines through as does the warmth and welcoming personalities of the family who run the place (from North India directly). I loved everything from the Spicy Noodle Samosas, to the Garlic Naan, and the Kadhi Pakoda. Nothing was less than perfect. The desserts were stellar too, we had the Mango Kulfi and the Coconut Cham-Cham, both of which were balanced perfectly. “Had a great experience sitting at the bar recently. They were very busy but the bartender took my order as soon as she could, and she was helpful & friendly. Their selection of amari is definitely among the best in the state. I ordered the arugula salad and it was massive, with a good amount of shaved Parm and a tasty dressing. Enjoyed tasting a preview of a super good cocktail that's now on their new Spring menu, called the "Bee's Peas" (thanks Nick!).“

“Tried this place on Sunday and the experience was amazing! There was no reservations left so we called when they opened and they told us they have extra spots reserved for walkins at the bar or chefs table. We got a cute little corner area of the bar and it was great! We had the rolls and oysters to start, then I had the scallops and beats for the small dishes and my partner had the swordfish. . The flavour profile of all 3 dishes were soooo good! and we finished off with a soft cheese for desert. We also ordered a smooth red Rioja which just made the night better. Definitely recommend!“

“Kismayo looks unassuming from the outside but it is well worth a stop. They serve a small, simple menu. I ordered the coconut chicken stew, somosas, and a delicious sweet cardamom tea. The stew was flavorful but delicate, with really nicely seasoned, perfectly cooked rice. The samosas were perfectly shaped with fresh tasting ingredients and a subtle heat. The food is clearly made to a high standard and with love. The ladies that run the place also seem to want to create a polite and friendly atmosphere. I'll be coming back.“

“One of many great Burlington restaurants. They have a series of unique pizzas cooked in a large fire oven. The sausage pizza was a little disappointing - the sausage was made locally and the spice was too timid and this didn’t really help the overall taste of the pizza. Our other pizza was very good. We got a brownie with a scoop of ice cream which was average. Kinda felt like I could have easily made a box of brownies and added a scoop of ice cream and it would have been just as good.Loved the interior.“

“Good, dense food. The GBC was AMAZING and had a lot of powdered sugar. The donuts flavorful and tall. Biscuits were crispy and delicious. The number 8 special with the chicken-fried egg and pickled zucchini was a rockin' blend of flavors packed in to a poppy seed bun. W for the win!“

“Best gelato in Vermont. Also, vegan ice cream/vegan gelato! Along with the amazing dairy gelato, there are always phenomenal flavors in the vegan versions. Paul has been dishing up gelato for years but on each of our annual visits are timing was off. Sometimes he had just sold out. This time we were able to get in and try it and returned day after day. This is the best gelato we've had. People were buying pints of it either to take home or to simply sit outside in the sun and enjoy. Everybody was happy and relaxed. It's dog friendly outside and the parking is right out front on the street. Paul takes great pride in what he dishes up as does his staff, you're always met with friendly faces!“

“I’m a big planer when I go on trips and I don’t know how I missed this place, but while hanging around town a woman recommended it to me and praise the stars she did. Some of THE best Mediterranean food I’ve had. And for the love of Pete do NOT skip out on the harissa chicken wings, they are a must get dish. The dolma was dream worthy and I’ve never had octopus the way they served it and it may be difficult to go back. Amazing food, wonderful service and an awesome experience and atmosphere. 20/10 IMO“

We ordered a waffle and a classic eggs breakfast. They offer a great cocktail selection too. The food arrived fast! Overall tasty but the potatoes were way too seasoned for my liking. The marble rye was Texas toast sized! The decor and merch were quiet fun!“

My partner had the breakfast sandwhich which he said was really good but could have benefitted from bacon (not just bacon jam). I had the chickpea salad which was good but there were a number of wilted lettuce pieces which was kind of annoying.They make their chai in-house and it’s great. They only have one alternative milk (oat) and the only option for regular milk is whole milk.They use vegetable oil on their cooktop so not great if you have an allergy to soy.No vegan options in the baked goods section except for the bread which was yummy!Vegetarian options: Lots of options for vegetarians- not a ton if you’re vegan!“

“My wife and I have gone to Bluebird multiple times in the past few years. We’ve had very mixed experiences, some great and some not so memorable. However, my wife and I went recently and had the bbq for two. We had the brisket, smoked turkey and smoked chicken. The brisket was juicy, had a great bark and was super tender (best one we ever had). The chicken was unbelievably moist, fall off the bone, and a delicious smokey taste. The turkey was tender and had a great smokey taste. As for the sides we had the Mac and cheese (perfectly cooked, seasoned and creamy), the coleslaw (creamy and fresh), the braised kale (really well cooked down and perfectly seasoned), and the broccoli (was nothing really special and I would opt for a different side next time). Their maple lemonade was refreshing and a little tart and their bbq sauces really complimented all the meats super well.Whereas I would have rated my food a lot lower in other visits, their food today has redeemed itself and I’m confident in recommending bluebird to anyone visiting Burlington (or lives in-town or nearby). My wife also has celiac disease and they made sure to be careful in the kitchen, and brought the Mac and cheese separately to prevent any cross-contamination, which we greatly appreciated.“

“I had an apple muffin the other day that I LOVED. tbh I think it should be called a cupcake since it was an apple spice cake experience in small form but it was really delicious. I love that they have flavored vegan cream cheese. I'm not the biggest fan of their bagels--they're kind of bready, not very traditional bagel-ish. I also want to warn that the past 2 times I've ordered bulk bagels, I've received a cheese bagel in the pack. They used to have something on the website that said they only put vegan bagels in bulk orders, maybe they deleted that? But FYI!“

I just went back a couple of weeks ago and I am still thinking about the pineapple fried rice. I was very happy with the flavor and service. “We visited in mid April and called ahead to make sure we could still dine with our dogs after reading they were dog friendly. The hospitality we were met with was exceptional! Deb answered and told us they "would love to have us!" That response made us feel welcome right away before even setting foot in the place. They served us on the patio and brought water out for us and our dogs as well. A lot of other restaurants listed as dog friendly in the area would not serve us stating their patios were not open yet. But the Vermont Pub and Brewery went above and beyond! The burgers and beers we had were delicious! Even though we were the only patrons dining outside the staff checked on us frequently everyone was so friendly! They have a decent selection for gluten free options including beer if that's something you need. “I enjoy working from here and the pastries and espresso drinks are great, but I had a cup of the drip coffee today for the first time and it was way too caffeinated I feel really sick from it. I didn't realize while I was drinking it just how strong it was but this feels dangerous that I'm this wired and jittery from just one cup after 6 hours when I normally have a pretty high tolerance for caffeine. If you have any kind of health issues or caffeine sensitivities be careful!“

“Came across this in Burlington next to the lake as we were coming to get beers at Foam Brewers. Deep City is their concept restaurant in the same building, with a bigger food menu. It has some pretty impressive things. A lot of it's meaty but not all of it. There's plenty of plant based choices that replicate the meaty stuff. After seeing this place open we changed plans and went here instead. It's a fancier looking place than the brewery next to it. The prices unfortunately reflect this. It's about $16 for typical items. They got rid of the half portions they had, and now only have the bigger more expensive ones. Boo. There's plenty of plant based options including the Vegan Poutine. Looks a lot like the real item. This instead has cashew squash queso and maitake mushrooms. Good but expensive. This is the only big issue. For sure the food is good. It's just pricy, and they now only have the big portions. These may cost too much, but the good thing is there's plenty to get for vegans and vegetarians.“
