The sushi here is some of the best I’ve had, even compared to the fresh, high-quality sushi in Vancouver. I’ve been to so many sushi spots across Alberta, but this little place in a small town has really impressed me. The fish is incredibly fresh, and the flavors are spot-on—exactly what you want from traditional sushi. The portions are generous too, especially the sashimi, which comes in thick, satisfying slices that let the freshness shine. This isn’t fusion-style sushi, so it’s helpful to know your sushi terms before diving in.

The restaurant itself has a cozy, classic vibe with a calm, Japanese-inspired atmosphere. It’s a slower pace, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the experience. The portions are big, and the staff are super kind and accommodating. If you’re in a rush, just call ahead—they’ll do their best to make things work. Whether you’re a sushi enthusiast or just looking for amazing food, this spot is absolutely worth checking out. Prices are fair.

The absolute best sushi place in Alberta! No one can convince me otherwise. Amazing food, amazing service, beautiful atmosphere. Everything is fresh and delicious!!!

I visited to order food at 4:30 PM on a Friday.
I told the server at the entrance that I wanted to place a pickup order, and he said I could pick it up at 5:10.
I was a little embarrassed when they told me it would take over 40 minutes without even asking what I wanted to order, but I told them I would wait.
At that moment, the kitchen shouted, “What if you do that without even asking what you want to order?” and suddenly the server
He must have been offended so he left me alone and went somewhere.
Gone. After standing like that for a while, I told the man at the counter that I wanted to place an order.
With a blunt expression, “Phone number?” I just say one thing:
It was so rude.
I gave them my phone number and ordered food. They told me to call them when the food was ready and asked me to leave rather than wait inside the store.
This was a bit absurd, but I went to the car, turned on the engine, and waited.
It was 5:10 but the phone call did not come.
When I went back into the store after 5:20,
My order was already packaged and just sitting on the table. I just believed that they would call me and it was below zero.
I was so angry as I waited in the parking lot with the car running in temperatures over 10 degrees.
The food was okay but the service was the worst.

I finished my business nearby at 4 o'clock that day, waited in the parking lot from about 4:15, and went in when I saw the open sign on, so I entered the store at 4:30. Like you said, I went in at 4:40 and left at 4:50.
If I had placed my order, I wouldn't have had to go out and wait, and I wouldn't have written a review like this.
They said there was a lot of backlogged orders, but after being closed for almost two hours from 2:45 to 4:30, they reopened and said they couldn't place the first customer's order on time. It's actually hard to believe, but even if that were the case, they usually have a backlog of orders so they have to wait a little longer. I think asking for understanding that you have to wait is a normal response.
After posting a review like this, I don't think it's a proper service to say that it was actually because they were very busy that day.

After moving to central alberta my wife and I found we were longing for some rolls that were as good as back home, this place was the ticket. Tried about 4 or 5 other places between Edmonton to Calgary and this one is definitely the favourite.

You can’t beat the flavour and quality of Okinawa. Happily treating myself here for years now and I’m hooked. Alaska roll is my go to, can’t live without it. Philadelphia roll for the cream cheese lover. The tuna and salmon sashimi melts in your mouth, they are very generously sized pieces of heaven. Tempura batter is so light and crisp, get the full size. Trust 🙏❤️ Christina is like family and all the exceptional team players working here just their butts to serve in-house, pickup and delivery orders, as well as serving the rowdy bingo players from the bar in the building. 13/10 🍣 🍱 🍤

I do appreciated everyone at Okinawa Sushi! We went with our 8 month old twins and the whole staff was so thoughtful to make it easy for us. From the high chairs, to giving us a larger table, to even having the staff hold one of my babies so I could have a mini break and have a bite! The food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere very lovely. We will definitely be coming back!

Food is good here but it seems like the quality has gone down a bit and the service is poor. Main course's did not come out together, we were not asked if we wanted drinks and when we asked for more water it was forgotten about, and no one checked to see how the food was.

This is a hidden gem. The food is on par with sushi in bigger centers. Very flavourful and fresh. The tea was wonderful and the service was perfect. Will be back soon for more.
