Being the only restaurant in Elkwater and seeing the low score for reviews we were a little sceptical, the people leaving negative reviews couldn’t be more wrong!
The first night we had the ribs and butter chicken, the 2nd night we had the salmon and the cypress burger.
All the food was amazing!
The cypress burger is probably one of the best burgers I’ve had.
My wife’s salmon was a little undercooked for her liking so she asked them to microwave it for a few minutes, that wasn’t good enough, the chef made her a new one, he came to the table to see how it was, top shelf service! The hostess was so polite and friendly, the establishment is clean and quiet, and I’ll say if you are wanting dessert they have 3 options we ordered two, OMG!
Huge portions! One would have been plenty. Thank you for the great meals!

Wonderful food. Never been to a restaurant where servers are this quick and attentive. Yes food is expensive and portions are a bit smaller but thats good ingredients and good cooks

We watched our server eating fries out of a bowl the cook set on warmer counter. Then remaining fries were put on our plates. I called him out on it, quietly took our food back for new fries. (Who knows if they were) Very Disgusting!

I had a fantastic meal at Buglers Dining Room & Lounge. I ordered the bison burger, and it was absolutely amazing—juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. For dessert, I had the cheesecake, and it was just as impressive—rich, creamy, and the perfect sweet finish to the meal.

The atmosphere was relaxing and the service was great. Definitely a spot I’d recommend if you’re in the area and looking for a quality dining experience!

Best french fries ever and the bison burger was one of the best, too. Enjoyed all meals eaten here through the weekend. Staff were really friendly and it was nice the chef came out to check we were happy with our food each time. The menu is fairly diverse so it was nice to have different options. The prices felt a bit high but pretty on par with city restaurants these days. We loved their music (CDs). Hours seem variable depending on season perhaps. Off sale liquor prices are high so make sure you stock up before heading to Elkwater, if you're inclined.

I can't. Even though the website says open to 8:00, and the hotel person told us they were open until 8:00, and the signage said they were open to 8:00, at 7:00 pm it was closed.

And guess what, the nearest alternative is something like 45 minutes away.

We had the bison burger and poutine and it was some of the BEST food I've tried. The portion sizes are well worth the cost. The server and chef were both friendly. The server sang while she worked. It was a cute home-y restaurant. Would definitely recommend!

The food was tasty, however it is extremely overpriced for the portion that was served. A stir fry was 20 dollars, chicken added was another 6 and "prawns" were another 8. My 34 dollar stir fry included 4 tiny prawns and an alleged 6 Oz chicken breast. I'm now going to cook a freeze dried backpacker meal in the hotel room because I'm still starving.

Post response from owner: Prawns and shrimp are not the same. 4 shrimp for 8 dollars is a rip off and false advertising. Noodles and broccoli surely aren't out of your price range to ensure your customers are fed. I'm lowering the rating after your response.

The hotel staff was awesome in assisting me with getting change for the vending machine! Hotel is a 10/10!

I admit. I read the G reviews and was a bit put off but in this town you have few options. With low expectations we were so
Pleasantly surprised! The place is straight utility with a bachelor basement suite vibe but the service was perfectly fine and friendly. The food is expensive but staff is hard to come by and seasonal nature of the work will certainly make this kind of business difficult and $$$. We had 3 different dishes and all were very satisfied and no complaints. Keep an open tolerant mind and tummy and give it a try

Food was good! One beer on tap, but still fresh. For one of the only restaurants in Elkwater: would come back.

We showed up late to the lodge after a big day of riding bikes, and they kept the kitchen open an extra half hour so we could eat.

The service was fantastic, even though we were keeping them late, the chicken wings were perfectly seasoned, and the butter chicken was absolutely delicious!

Hands down the strangest experience.Im in elkwater every day in the summer and have nearly went here many times. Wish i would have before deciding to go there for our anniversary dinner. We werent greeted. We were served flat pop and then after an hour of waiting we were served burgers so raw they may as well have been mooing .Incredibly disappointing. We were staying at the lodge for the night. In the middle of a crazy storm and ended up having to drive back into medicine hat for dinner in a blizzard because the one restaurant open in the whole community doesnt take any pride in what they are doing .Do better. Your community would probably be very thankful to have some GOOD food .

I came here for the Christmas Day buffet. The location of the restaurant is nice within the Cypress Hills. The food was quite well done for the most part. The curry squash soup was probably the most unique and flavorful thing offered. Other traditional Christmas foods were done well. Service was decent but not outstanding. I will come here again when I am visiting Elkwater, or perhaps the buffet will become a Christmas tradition as long as it is offered.

Parking: Drive around the hotel to the back to find the parking lot and entrance.
