The food was tasty, however it is extremely overpriced for the portion that was served. A stir fry was 20 dollars, chicken added was another 6 and "prawns" were another 8. My 34 dollar stir fry included 4 tiny prawns and an alleged 6 Oz chicken breast. I'm now going to cook a freeze dried backpacker meal in the hotel room because I'm still starving.
Post response from owner: Prawns and shrimp are not the same. 4 shrimp for 8 dollars is a rip off and false advertising. Noodles and broccoli surely aren't out of your price range to ensure your customers are fed. I'm lowering the rating after your response.
The hotel staff was awesome in assisting me with getting change for the vending machine! Hotel is a 10/10!

I admit. I read the G reviews and was a bit put off but in this town you have few options. With low expectations we were so
Pleasantly surprised! The place is straight utility with a bachelor basement suite vibe but the service was perfectly fine and friendly. The food is expensive but staff is hard to come by and seasonal nature of the work will certainly make this kind of business difficult and $$$. We had 3 different dishes and all were very satisfied and no complaints. Keep an open tolerant mind and tummy and give it a try

Food was good! One beer on tap, but still fresh. For one of the only restaurants in Elkwater: would come back.

We showed up late to the lodge after a big day of riding bikes, and they kept the kitchen open an extra half hour so we could eat.
The service was fantastic, even though we were keeping them late, the chicken wings were perfectly seasoned, and the butter chicken was absolutely delicious!

Hands down the strangest experience.Im in elkwater every day in the summer and have nearly went here many times. Wish i would have before deciding to go there for our anniversary dinner. We werent greeted. We were served flat pop and then after an hour of waiting we were served burgers so raw they may as well have been mooing .Incredibly disappointing. We were staying at the lodge for the night. In the middle of a crazy storm and ended up having to drive back into medicine hat for dinner in a blizzard because the one restaurant open in the whole community doesnt take any pride in what they are doing .Do better. Your community would probably be very thankful to have some GOOD food .

I came here for the Christmas Day buffet. The location of the restaurant is nice within the Cypress Hills. The food was quite well done for the most part. The curry squash soup was probably the most unique and flavorful thing offered. Other traditional Christmas foods were done well. Service was decent but not outstanding. I will come here again when I am visiting Elkwater, or perhaps the buffet will become a Christmas tradition as long as it is offered.
Parking: Drive around the hotel to the back to find the parking lot and entrance.

Yeah, I don't even know where to start but I think other reviews pretty much say it all. It's too bad because I suspect these owners were hoping to create something decent, but the overall poor quality of food and distracting and disjointed décor were almost too much. I'd advise the owners to gut the place (tear down that wall the divides the place) and create some sort of clean and bright space. It's just sad and dumpy.

This is the restaurant attached to our hotel, a nice upscale spa hotel, but this meal was anything but great. The pasta was ice cold, the hamburger burnt to a crisp and the bottom of the bun was rock hard, the beef nachos were burnt and very very little ground beef, the kids chicken fingers and fries were ok and hot, but we did not go back. The prices were sky high (probably cause there are only two restaurants to access in the park) and the food was not good. The front staff and the waiter though, absolutely amazing. The chef though was scruffy looking and kept coming to get a drink at the bar and pulling up his sagging torn pants and pushing his hair off his face, he looked scruffy, not what i thought a chef at a spa hotel restaurant would look like. There were water leaking marks everywhere, torn carpet, stained walls, dirty chairs...it just needs some upgrading so it fits in with the amazing hotel its attached to.
French Toast was delicious. Large portion. Along with a large pot of tea.Hills breakfast was served hot as well .with coffeeService was good .

Booked a meal for 30 people in advanced. We preordered the food days ahead. It still took over 2 hours to get food and some people never even recieved theirs. The food was nothing special and not cooked well.Only positive was the selection of wine and drinks.Would not recommend eating here.

In a woeful restaurant, I took my chance, Overcooked steak, a disappointing dance. Hours dragged on, no food in sight, No drink arrived, left parched in the night.Outside, a stench of sewage hung, A warning to all, this place among. With bitter words, my review I sow, To spare others from this dreadful show.

Buglers is a nice, casual dining room at the Elkwater Lodge and Resort. It has new owners ( late 2022)and we met them. They are very nice and friendly. We had a lovely meal consisting of butter chicken and shared a huge portion of sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The food was very good and the service was quite good. We try to support all the local businesses in Elkwater and do understand the difficulties facing the hospitality industry in terms of staffing and costs.
