I went to Sonder Coffee and Tea for the first time. I ordered a London Fog and cinnamon sugar waffle. The London Fog was lukewarm, and when I told them that it was lukewarm, they did not offer me a new drink. The waffle was cold and dry.

We tried the amazing waffles, topped with delicious fruit! Servers were pleasant and the place was clean and bright, trendy.

Maybe I'm spoilt. I did live in Belgium for two years and got used to being able to buy great waffles cooked right there and then on the street. But I've also got a waffle maker -- it's not rocket science to make a fresh waffle. Here is a really nice restaurant space, serves great coffee, the menu is imaginative and well thought out, with terrific toppings. Then they go and spoil it all by putting those great toppings on cold stale waffles. I really find it hard to believe. Sure it was latish in the day, about 4. Maybe they thought it was ok to stockpile waffles and close the kitchen. I don't know. Why do this? Why not cook the waffles to order? Yes, it might mean the customer might have to wait a few minutes longer outside peak periods. But the difference between a steaming fresh melt-in-your-mouth hot-from-the-griddle and a chewy flat chunk of cold dough is light years -- and the difference between one and five stars on a review. I hope this was just an aberration, and that normally this place does serve the waffles fresh cooked. But aberrations should not happen.

My husband and I went to Alberta for a friend's wedding and took us here. All three of us had waffles and they were very considerate about my strawberry allergy. Can't wait to come back someday
