MAMA LA Vietnamese Cuisine

The food, service and ambience was all great. The food was homely and fresh! We had the spring rolls and shrimp curry and rice. Only thing was there was too many vegetables in the shrimp curry. The server was very accommodating in finding a meal for my daughter, and went out of the way to help us take home the leftovers. 5 stars on everything!

Just went Thursday for some dinner with my partner and we are regulars that come in to eat at least once or twice a month. This is coming from someone who just deleted they’re five star review to write this one which I’m so terribly disappointed and sad to have to do so because I love this place. The lady that brought us to our table was kinda snarky all bc we asked her if we could sit at the bigger table bc we normally order a couple of dishes and like to have a little space without crowding and she didn’t really want us to sit there bc if it’s busy she will be moving us ? Excuse me I’ve never been spoken to like that before and then she just never came back. Mind you another couple came in and actually sat where they wanted at a bigger table and she said nothing to them! Mind you at the time it wasn’t really busy but a few tables were taken but it was the way she said it was very rude. Then I took a drink from my water and i noticed it tasted funny so I told my gf and she switched me glasses and I told her even hers tasted odd like oily film or something was in the glass and my gf finally drank from it and she noticed it smelt and tasted like fish sauce.
I was so disgusted 🤮 the other waitress she told didn’t seem to believe her but took them and chuckled and brought back two more that tasted the same and at this point instead of being concerned she looked annoyed and took them behind the counter and got the lady that sat us down to soak them in the sink infront of us as they both made faces and were clearly talking about us which made me so uncomfortable. The table beside us were being sorta rude but they sure treated them kindly enough so I hope it’s not homophobic behaviour bc we just complained about our waters tasting bad but they complained about the food & service. Our food came & we tried to eat even tho after that we really wanted to leave but I tried to ignore it. None of them came to check on us like they did with everyone else in there until I told my gf to tell them we needed some napkins and as we were still eating this other lady that works there rushed us to pack up our food which i clearly wasn’t done with as I was still eating off my side plate but at this point I wanted to leave so I let her do so and I kindly asked her if she could pack up the sauce from the ribs if that was alright and she’s like it’s your food babe you can do whatever you want with it haha & I was just stunned by the behaviour honestly and then my gf just paid & I had to leave quickly because that was so unnecessary to say and rush us out. Having 3-4 people working should be enough for them not to feel overwhelmed by take out orders
And current customers eating inside. I’ve noticed that they are bad for smirking and whispering to one another which is very unprofessional for any business to do & they should be more clean & sanitary with the dishes and glasses bc even my one pair of chopsticks were dirty but I didn’t say a thing because heaven forbid I complained about those water glasses. This really ruin the food and experience for the both of us. We felt so unwelcomed & like they didn’t want us to be here. Well thanks to that sad to say I won’t give my business where it’s not appreciated nor were my regular business isn’t appreciated.

I don't usually write reviews, but this time I need to say this! I was impressed for the first time in my life today when I ordered black pepper beef today and find out that not only the portion was huge but 70% was actually beef! It wasn't just sprinkled with a little bit of beef,but most of the dish was beef only. Big respect to this restaurant!

This is one of my fave restaurants in Lethbridge! The food is amazing, great portions and pricing is fantastic for what you get! The service is always friendly and quick as well. Highly recommend!

Attended a recent Birthday party that had MAMA LA take out as the meal. I must say I enjoyed all the food especially the curry shrimp. I'm not usually a shrimp person but the curry shrimp from MAMA LA's was great!

Felt the sub was under filled, otherwise the taste and flavour was very good - unique taste and take on Vietnamese food. Minimal seating.

Food was BOMB here. Destroyed the toilet after eating so good here. The only thing that bothered me is when the servers kept coming up to our tables every minute asking how the food is or if we need anything. It made me feel uncomfortable cause me and my family were just trying to enjoy our food without getting hit up with “Do you need anything,” or “How’s the food?” Every 2 minutes

Walked out before even being served. The table was so sticky that the menu was sticking down to it and you couldn't even peel it off and the server comes over and tries to tell us that there's sanitizer strips the enamel know you're not cleaning things properly is what it really is so if the tables are that sticky what's it like making the food.

Great food. Tasty. Only thing missing was the soup wasn’t “hot”. It was warm but personally I like my soup hot. Services were good and friendly. Price was around $20 per meal. Big portion. Shareable size.
