I love the Cantonese Chow Main
Best rice in the city
Serve good food. Always order when in town.
We have visited the upstairs window seats twice, and enjoy watching 3rd Avenue and the park while we eat. The manager Mike seems to have bonded with my grandson, ( began discussing the liquid dipping bird at the til), to the point where he has brought little gifts to the table. We will go back, no more gifts necessary. Thank you, we like it at Shanghai!
Ordered takeout, food is mediocre at best and expensive for what you get. On the order they missed one of our items, called them back and asked for a credit on the item….nothing was given. Also emailed them but no response. There are much better options in Lethbridge…
We ordered the dinner for six. There was plenty of food but the taste and quality was poor. The beef and broccoli and fried rice were just ok. The chow mein had a rancid greasy taste. The chicken balls were very tough, hard to chew and hard to cut with a knife. The deep fried shrimp were also very chewy. The dry ribs were greasy and had little taste. The sweet and sour ribs were tasty but there were small bone chips throughout the sauce. We also ordered 6 egg rolls, some were good and others had a rancid oil taste. We've ordered from the New Shanghai in the past and the food was pretty good but we were disappointed with this meal. Next time we will try a different Chinese restaurant.
Omg so I moved here a yr ago and have been extremely sad by the local 'white washed Chinese' food. I found New Shanghai and am sooooooo thankful to have found them. The food was most PERFECT and worth every penny! I wont go anywhere else now. Thank you thank you thank you!
I love their 10.99 summer special! That price can't be beat. 3 items + rice, 1 soda, 1 cookie. I can get 2 meals out of this special. Let's get a fall special New Shanghai!

The salt and pepper shrimp is very strange tasting, a spice I've never had before. They were soggy as well because they don't vent their containers. The ginger beef was tough and bland. The deep fried wontons were the only thing that was ok. Barely. We ended up eating mostly coconut rice which we made ourselves. Will never order again

There are plenty of Chinese restaurant in town and somehow this restaurant has the highest price of them for no justification. Almost $30 for a chicken wing appetizers? Clearly the restaurant owner smoked their own product as they do own the weed dispensary as well.Skip this as the higher priced food is not justified by the portion, quality, or taste. There are better Chinese restaurant in town with authentic taste that doesn't try and rob your wallet. Try Dumpling House on the West Side, Imperial China, Fusion on the South Side or Spring Roll on the North Side. Better value, better taste, better food.

This place is a rip off. Prices are up to 50 percent higher than what can be found in Calgary. Authenticity is a stretch too. Chinese for Caucasians. Maybe the prices are so high because they actually use chopsticks made of gold.
Great take out spot
