There are plenty of Chinese restaurant in town and somehow this restaurant has the highest price of them for no justification. Almost $30 for a chicken wing appetizers? Clearly the restaurant owner smoked their own product as they do own the weed dispensary as well.Skip this as the higher priced food is not justified by the portion, quality, or taste. There are better Chinese restaurant in town with authentic taste that doesn't try and rob your wallet. Try Dumpling House on the West Side, Imperial China, Fusion on the South Side or Spring Roll on the North Side. Better value, better taste, better food.

This place is a rip off. Prices are up to 50 percent higher than what can be found in Calgary. Authenticity is a stretch too. Chinese for Caucasians. Maybe the prices are so high because they actually use chopsticks made of gold.

Our family loves the New Shanghai! Delicious food, large portions and amazing service. The best in town!! A special thanks to Tim, our usual delivery driver. He's like part of our family and takes the time to visit with our family and pets each time we see him. Thanks again for another amazing dinner.
Ordered ginger chicken. For 20.00 received a small container of tough, stringy breaded meat. I have never known chicken to be that stringy and hard to chew!??!! The cabbage in the chow mein was mushy and overcooked. An expensive, mediocre dinner. Would not recommend this restaurant and will not order from here again.

Somewhat frequently order from this place. We have probably ordered 50+ times throughout the years without too many issues. But after today I think we will have to find a new chinese restauraunt. The lady at the counter forgot to give us half our order and then called about it after I had gotten back to the west side and was pulling into my street. Took us an extra half an hour plus gas to drive back yet they refused to take anything off the bill. In addition to this, the bag was squashed together and leaking soy dauce as we unfortunately found out after removing the bag from the back seat. And of top of all that, the portion sizes have been cut after the prices have gone up 20%! For the first time ever we had no leftovers at all like all the times we had ordered the same items previously. Disappointed big time.

We have enjoyed this style of Chinese Food for many years, and it continues to be our favourite. We had patronized another restaurant for many years that this owner had connections to. Since New Shanghai opened, we only order here. The owner is proud of the cleanliness of his kitchen, and is quick to try and resolve any problems with our orders. There are many styles of Chinese food. Is it possible food itself is not the problem with negative reviewers , but their tastes are inclined more to a different style of Chinese food. We happen to love this food, and there must be a reason it keeps winning Best Chinese Food Restaurant in Lethbridge's "Best of the Best" competition.
I live in Calgary, but I get takeout from Shanghai every time I visit Lethbridge. I absolutely love the No. 3 Dinner for One! There is a reason why they consistently win the Best of Lethbridge award for Chinese Food. There is nothing like it. Keep in mind, if you've never had Chinese Food in Lethbridge, it is different here. Lethbridge restaurants serve a Westernized version of Chinese Food (more so than other Canadian cities) that is not the best from a health standpoint, but it is very tasty. Shanghai serves the best version of Lethbridge Chinese Food.

Ordered the dinner for 3 , the chowmein that came with the meal was horrid . I’ve ordered chowmein for years . It’s one of my favourite dishes , although what I got from here was not chowmein. It was mushy flavourless cabbage with a few noodles and looked like left over chicken scraps ( looked like cat food ) . First and last time I will order from here . If you’re looking for chowmein this is not the place to get itI suggest they update the menu to WARN customers of what their idea of chowmein is . I think these are the only people who don’t know how to make their own national foods lol. The little white girl taking orders is completely simple it’s kinda sad ( stay in school girl )I called to see if there’s anything that can be done ? same girl said “ we can make the Cantonese chowmein but you’ll have to pay the DIFFERENCE. My husband picked it up and was made to pay full price .I warn you , do not waste your time nor your money here . Hospital food is better than this garbage they call food . It’s bland , they can’t cook , then don’t HONOR options being offered. This place should ? be shut down .
