The best Chinese food in town hands down

My family and I ordered takeout on New Year’s Eve from J&A and weee so impressed we wanted to do a review. We ordered fairly last minute for one of their busiest (if not busiest) night of the year and were lucky enough to sneak in an order. When my husband went to collect, he was told there would be a delay of 15-20 mins. The team there were so apologetic, offered discounts (we felt this was unnecessary personally) and were providing customers waiting with pop and drinks. So 10/10 for customer service. The food was tasty and decent value. We’ll definitely be back! it’s no surprise that it’s the best chinese in Okotoks.

Not sure what has happened over the last year, but the quality of this food is atrocious. Beef ribs are all cartilage, pork and pineapple has no pineapple, pork chop suey is just pork and bean sprouts, and a food allergy was ignored. I hope this place can turn things around because the staff is kind, but we will not be returning.

Ordered stir fried noodles fried rice and spring rolls for the price of $40 something plus 10%tip
.was supposed to have thick noodles
Well,, its more of bean sprouts and thin noodles tastes bad 🤑beef fried rice 🫣 spring rolls crispy on the outside soggy on the inside and no flavour at all
I am so disgusted and will never ever go back to this place
Your customers are paying so much
Please be mindful and HONEST

Under the new owner and still amazing! Came in to see if anything had changed, and we were so pleased. The food is every bit as good, and the new owners are so warm and welcoming. You can tell they really care about carrying on the legacy of great food in Okotoks. Keep up the great work! We're behind you 100%.

We were just passing through Okotoks and decided to take a chance on this Chinese restaurant for a quick bite. What a wonderful surprise! The food was far beyond our expectations for a small town. The ginger beef was crispy and flavourful, and the portions were huge. It was the perfect meal to break up our journey. If you're on the road and craving great food, don't miss this spot!

We received our order and was cold, ginger beef over cooked, chicken over cooked almond guiding, Spring rolls tasted like they’ve been in the freezer forever, rice was crunchy, dumplings we're not cooked, broccoli was over cooked and Shanghai noodles were salty!
We will not order here again!

I’m not too sure what they did to their menu but it’s changed for the worst. Won ton soup are a solid meatball in a weird orange broth, pork is all spongy, and the ginger beef is solid 2/10 for me. Disappointing…

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Absolutely perfect Chinese restaurant. The staff was amazing, the food was EXCELLENT and the pricing fair. The chef even came over to out table and checked in with us to ensure the food was right. If there are any negative reviews, I woupd ignore them! We come here once a year, from Edmonton, and we be sure to dine here every time. It's worth every penny and minute spent!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Restaurantji Recommends
J and A has been always been a favourite of mine, and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for fresh/quality Chinese food in Okotoks. I was a bit apprehensive to order because I've heard the ownership has changed recently. However the new owners were extremely friendly and attentive and the food tasted exactly the same as before. (if not better!) Will be returning soon!!

Sadly this place isn't what it used to be. For the longest time it was the best choice in town for Chinese. You'd get these huge portions that were not too greasy, and the meat and vegetables were always fresh and crispy. Went back a couple times recently and it was just a salty, soggy mess. They also cranked the price and lowered the portions. I heard there is new ownership.

This was once our favorite place to order, now it's under new ownership and the food is now quite unenoyable. The food has no flavor, other than peanut oil, and smells strongly of peanut oil. I enjoy the combo F, and tonight my rice was beyond bland, pasty, and lacking the pork. The chow mein was salty tasting, and also smells strongly of oil. Unfortunately we will likely not be returning guests, after 8 years of enjoying some of the best Chinese food we've ever had.
I wish the new owners all the best.
Great food and service
