You couldn’t imagine a better plate of food…lovingly made.
I reminisced while there and then just when you think it couldn’t get any better, you are greeted by a Baba who tells you exactly how to cook the cabbage rolls, the cream sauce or perogies that you are buying from their freezer section.
I love the decor too.
It’s a very small dining space but everyone cozies up.

We stopped by Hung Uke while passing through Red Deer, and it was an absolute gem! The place is so full of character, and the food was incredibly delicious — homemade, comforting, and reminded me of being back home. The lady working there (who I believe is the owner) was so warm and welcoming, just like a Ukrainian grandma who wants to make sure you leave well-fed. I will always recommend this place to anyone visiting Red Deer — it’s a must-try!
This is the real deal! The food is homemade, fresh, and served hot, and the hospitality is just as good. You'll always leave full, and the prices are great. You can even grab frozen meals to enjoy at home.
I'd say the only other place to find this quality of food is at a potluck in Glendon, if you're lucky!
