Took my FIL for his birthday dinner at Lad Palmeras this week and it was incredible. Authentic Mexican cuisine and lovely service. The vibe is chill which was great because we didn’t want a busy pub environment. Highly recommended.

To sum up, will never be back. Waste of money for bad food and a crumbling, decaying atmosphere.

The food is just disgusting. I didn’t even touch any of my plates of how disappointed I was. If you’re looking for authentic Salvadorean pupusas not the place. Also if you want to order the flautas, they’re literally lumpias (filipino dish) the presentation of the enchiladas was upsetting (looked like straight up throw up) and the cooks aren’t even Hispanic. All their dishes are missing that latino touch and flavour. The yuca and chicharron wasn’t even pleasant. Don’t go if you’re looking for authentic Mexican or salvadorean food.

It wasn't the fajita experience I expected. I anticipated a hot searing cast plate sizzling at the table, but it was not that. But it was good in flavour and every other way.

This was absolutely the best experience I’ve ever had with a restaurant! The customer service was out of this world and the food was delicious, I have and would highly recommend this place!

Place looks real nice, but thats really where it ends. Waitress didnt know how to pronounce their menu items. Chips were just cold and semi-stale, the guacamole was made from some un-ripe avocados and you can definitely taste it. The flautas are really amazing, extremely expensive at almost $5 a piece, especially considering they are completely uniform in length, diameter, and wrapping, so they are store-bought.

The re-fried beans were soupy, and are just plain canned refried beans, no real taste to it. The rice has a nice colour too it, which usually you get from turmeric, of which none can be tasted at all. Very little seasoning and just tastes like uncle bens, and most likely is.

When it came to the prawns and steak, the steak was dry, but decent, just fried in butter with nothing but salt and black pepper, no life to it. Same with the prawns, really nothing special.

My wife ordered the tampiquena, which had absolutely no veggies, no caramelized onions or strips of poblano peppers, no cheese with it, and rather than a long cut filet, was simply the identical steak to mine. Also dry, and was cooked well, not medium rare.

If it was 10-15 a plate, it wouldnt be a terrible price for what you get. But at 25+ a plate, it's not worth it at all. Red deer has MUCH better options for latin american food

I'm a little biased because Mexican food is my Fave! Las Palmas makes some of the best I have eaten and I love the patio.
