Five of us from Regina had a small job in Red Deer which brought us to the Holiday Inn, which in turn led us to the Mohave Smokehouse. Even though the restaurant was under construction, you would have never known it...so don't let that detour you. The staff was so pleasant with exceptional service. Regardless of the food we ordered, everyone was truly happy with our dishes.
If you want a quick bite or a sit down top notch dining experience...head out to Mohave.
Shout out to Belly Hop Brewing which was bar- none, the best IPA beer I've had in a decade.

Sad excuse for a brisket... like rubber. Expected more from a "smoke house" and instant mashed potatoes.. gross

We had a blast here with some friends to watch football and drink. Someone bought me a shot too so that was awesome! Very kind staff

My husband I came to Red Deer for his knee surgery.
He was at the hospital and I ordered our food for pick up.
I picked up my two bags and went to the hospital.
The restaurant forgot to add my steak in the bag. The hotel called me and I was at the hospital for the evening.
I called the restaurant back to see if they could deliver my steak to the hospital and they said no.
I specifically said I would pick it up later.
I get to the restaurant to grab it.
They said they delivered it to the hotel.
I get to the hotel and it's not in sight at the front desk.
I spent all evening with my husband at the hospital.
I knew the restaurant would keep it and have food safety protocols in place.
But no it was delivered to my room and sat on our door all evening.
All because they forget to pack my steak.

It's a shame, we ordered from them the night before and we had good service.

I would suggest that anyone who orders take out to ensure all of their food is in there before you leave that place.

Not only that, by delivering it to my room it risked the chance of not being properly stored and the chance of someone stealing the bag.

Do better Mohave steakhouse and bar!

Kudos to the staff !! They went out of the way to deliver once they realised that veggies and potatoes were missing in my meal.

One of the most delicious meat loaf I have had.
Although I opted take out, but dine in looks so impressive and well maintained.

Will be a definite spot in red deer !

Been here a couple times now and this time brought my mom. She was sooo happy with the pulled pork, just a little fat on the meat (unlike a chain store we have....)
She said it's one of the best she has had.
Would definitely recommend.

Our hotel Ramada advised we would get 10% off at Mohave but on ordering takeout we’re told it was dine in only. Ok, discussed ordering 2 smokehouse platters for 15 people with the hostess and she thought it would be enough. Paid and placed order and shortly after received a call stating the platters would only feed 4-5 people. I said to add another platter and paid on pickup of the order which was quite prompt (~20 min). Took the food back to the hotel and realized the portions were quite small. The meats while quite good were reasonable size but the sides were ridiculously small. Fries and onion rings barely filled 1/8 of the box they were in, house salads were very small and Cole slaw was adequate. It was almost like the fryer was down and they were rationing the rings/fries. Not sure but very disappointing. In no world would those sides feed 4 people per platter. Wish I had taken pictures for that $450 “meal”.

Can't say what food tasted like, I didn't get a chance to other. If i could give zero starts i would! Once we sat by the table we got our drinks... then after 20 minutes of waiting for someone to take our order my son asked the waitress by saying " sorry we are ready to order her response was "I'm ordering others people food right now, thank you"... I'm wondering why she couldn't say please give me a minute etc.

To make a note here, place was empty, beside us there were two other tables with couple people each and 3 people outside at the patio. On top of that 3 waitresses... one dealing only with skip the dishes, other one sitting at the table segregating napkins and third one the rude one typing in the order to the machine.

I understand waiting 20 minutes to take a order if the place is packed, not when there is barely anyone there

We are from BC and travelled to Red Deer Alberta on vacation. We were so looking forward to a great smoke house to enjoy a great meal and we wound up at the Mohave Smokehouse & Bar. The waitress was friendly and gave us her top picks on the menu, at first. She raved about the brisket dinner and how it came piping hot with fresh garden carrots and beets. We ordered a lager beer that was recommended, which wasn’t too bad, not great but ok. Then came the brisket dinner, as we waited in anticipation to enjoy a great smoked dinner it finally came. For $26.95 per plate you get 3 small strips of thin brisket with a small amount of mashed potatoes and there were a few carrots, no beets she raved about. She said, “oh ya, there are no beets”. There was no other veggie to replace it and she said if you want another side she would give us that instead. Not impressed we said ok, what do you have she said red potatoes or yam fries. We weren’t thrilled and agreed to the yam fries. As we dug into the brisket it was cold to barely luke warm and the sauce was equally disappointing. I couldn’t eat the cold food, my partner tried but it was cold and frankly gross to try and eat. After about 15 min she comes back with waffle yam fries, that could have been used as ice cubes in a drink. We told her the food was cold and the fries were worse. At that point she tried to avoid us (as well as the table beside us with a similar complaint). Service was horrible and they had their nerve to bring a bill for over $80.00 for uneaten food. Would never recommend this place unless you have money to burn and want cold food that is supposed to be hot. The waitress got 0.00 for a tip as she was as cold as the food. We are not giving up on Alberta though, this could have been a one off. Leaving Red Deer a day early to find something else to eat. Mohave is not worth your money or your time.
