We gave Phoenix buffet a try after our relatives recommended it to us. We stopped for dinner on the way back to Edmonton from Calgary. The food is very flavorful and there is a good variety. Mostly Canadian Chinese food (ginger beef, sweet and sour pork, etc). The stir fried shrimp is really good. Chicken feet is also very good, they were very big. The batter on the outside of the squid was a bit too thick. The roast beef was a bit dry and the roast turkey was very dry. I tried one piece of fried chicken, the flavor was ok but it the skin was not crispy anymore. They have a lot of little cakes, but the best dessert is the cream pies and the cheesecake.

Our family loves this buffet! Not only is there plenty of options for different palates, the flavours are more authentic/have depth(as opposed to white-washed generic recipes). The atmosphere is simple yet lovely, and the service is generally good(though you could tell our server didn't want to be there, she was still polite). This is our favorite buffet and we'll be back many times I'm sure!

As much as i love the food and the management but sometimes the person who serves the customer namely Malou doesn't deserve to be there because it has a bad effect on the business. Sorry but my experience today was really bad, she approached me as if i am not a customer at all.

The food was good. Flavor in every bite. Attentive servers and a nice atmosphere and spacious. Good selection in food and desserts. The only suggestion is putting some seasoning in the Wanton soup meatballs. We were from Calgary, but we would definitely come back if passing through or visiting Red Deer.
We come here lots with the kids, and it's always a good choice. The staff are very friendly and understanding, the buffet options are almost always fresh and delicious, and the salad and dessert bars have a great selection and variety. I love it here, and more importantly, the kids love it. Absolutely recommend.
Kid-friendliness: My kids all have some degree of nerological disabilities, and the staff have never been anything less than stellar. They're friendly and understanding, and always willing to answer whichever random questions the kids have. It's so hard to find places so welcoming and I'm so happy to have a place like this where we can take the kids and know everyone will be taken care of and find something to eat that they love

I went with a friend to have some turkey, it was on an all you can eat buffet. We were met at the till by a woman that informed me I didn't have have to take that much meat. She had a very snotty and snarky attitude. Needless to say I'll never go back. Disgusting treatment from the staff.

I was sitting beside the review below me and the server was being respectful and professional. She was just double checking that she was only having soup for the bill. I cant believe there are people like this that treat the servers like this. I know the servers myself and she is very respectful.
