They tried serving rotten steak, then sent a second steak in the same condition and then didn’t want to take it fully off the bill. Lol sorry not paying for ROTTEN steak!!! 3 out of 4 people (including a toddler) were violently ill after eating here and we will not ever return. (To be clear - the steak was not eaten aside from 1 bite of the first one before fully noticing it was vile- second steak was just looked at and knew it was also off so refused it - it was the bacon that made the others sick! Something was seriously wrong with their meat). Infact, I’ll go out of my way to warn people to avoid this place. Staff clearly do not understand safe food handling and who in their right mind would KNOWINGLY send out a rotten steak - it was grey/green and stunk to high heaven: even the server said he thought it smelled bad. Like dude you still served it to us knowing that??? The cook would have known the moment he saw the meat but still chose to cook it and serve it to people. That is beyond messed up. HARD PASS.
Our first visit to the Sunset Grill on Thorburn Avenue in Red Deer's Clearview area exceeded our expectations. Our initial impression, based on mixed online reviews, was quickly put to rest upon entering the restaurant.
The atmosphere was inviting and immaculate, with the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee. We found the space to be both spacious and cozy. Our server was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, providing excellent recommendations.
We ordered the Sunset Super and the eggs benedict. Both dishes were delicious, fresh, and not overly greasy. The service was impressively fast.
Given the high quality of the food, service, and overall experience, we plan to become regular patrons, especially since the restaurant is conveniently located near our home.

Its kinda pricey for 2 ppl to eat breakfast for 65$ and the fellow cooking was on the phone and touched hubby's toast while handling phone and hubby was grossed out and we asked for fresh toast and he was kinda annoyed. I think if it was the other way around he would feel the same, it was good food though our server was great. The cook just needs to wash hands when necessary and not handle the phone while cooking.
That was honestly the only down side.

Tried Sunset Grill for the first time with some friends last weekend. Lots of seating and parking available. The menu is very extensive and we all ordered something different and it all came out delicious. Most egg dishes come with 3 eggs and lots of choices of meat.
I ordered a platter that came with three eggs, two pancakes, two bacon slices, 2 sausages and hash browns and it was under $20.
Food was served hot.
It appeared that there was only one server and he was busy.
Definitely will be back to try other items on the menu.

This restaurant is great! Food is excellent and consistent. Service is excellent and very welcoming and friendly. Atmosphere is nice, very clean.
The only reason I gave it atmosphere 3 stars is because it's always freezing cold in there. It can make and otherwise nice experience, very uncomfortable because you're shivering while you try and enjoy your meal.Nice fam
