So many different choices of beer from stouts to blonds and ones with nice hops to them. No better micro in RD then this hidden gem. Do yourself a favor and stop in for 1, 2 or 6, you won't be disappointed

Used one of the large tables in the back room for a birthday gathering. We were able to bring our own food and to stay as long as we wanted. Erin and the rest of the staff were amazing! They were welcoming, friendly, attentive and helpful. Will definitely gather at the Monk again!

Love this place, drinks are excellent not much side dishes. It’s too bad that one of them I really like but it’s a seasonal item so don’t sell in cans only on tap. Would love to go again for the next road trip.

Was SUPER pumped to be able to visit Troubled Monk on a recent trip to Red Deer. Love their "Grainhenge" whisky series, and as a whiskey and grain elevator lover, this brand has done a hang-up job with their product line!Unfortunately, my visit didn't live up to the hype. Purchased two bottles of Arrowwood and one bottle of Meeting Creek #2. Staff had extremely limited knowledge of the product line, and weren't able to offer information on the difference between Meeting Creek release #1 and Meeting Creek release #2.When purchasing the bottles (for take-home, all the way back to Manitoba), the staff seemed totally indifferent - and almost inconvenienced by - my visit solely to purchase bottles to take home. Perhaps they were busy serving the few customers at tables on the patio?I was sooooo looking forward to seeing the "home" of the Grainhenge whisky series, and despite collecting the entire series, I probably won't return... it's simply more convenient to order online and not inconvenience the front-counter staff.

Welcoming atmosphere and very clean. Family friendly at all times of the day. Loving getting the flights to try different seasonal beers! They do not have a kitchen but they do have great snacks that pair well with the beers.

This WAS one of my favourite stops when out biking … great beer great spot for socializing! Coming a few times a week I got to know some of the awesome staff!!! First thing I noticed not the same selection of food trucks coming… they were short on bike racks after many suggestions of getting more bike racks, then I noticed the divide between staff and management.. The management was not supportive after some abusive rowdy customers… ?sooo shame shame … you had it all Troubled Monk

Generally a very lovely place to go, the servers are wonderful & lately they’ve been the only good thing about our visits. As a business owner myself I’m aware when new management has been put into place & since this has happened at the Monk things have gone downhill quickly. We were there on a busy night & who I can only assume was a manager was leaning against a wall, arms crossed, watching the servers be run off their feet without bothering to step in & help. No sign of leadership or visible knowledge of how to effectively take care of their front end team. It’s unfortunate really, toxic management will often drive away good employee and I foresee this happening at the Monk.

We live in Edmonton and were at the liquor store looking for some bevvies. We decided to grab a case of Troubled Tea and wow!!! What an absolute gem! Real steeped iced tea, sweet but not overly sweet, and just a bit of a fizz factor to it. Super tasty and refreshing I was not disappointed ? I am now a super fan!! Thank you!!

One of our favourite places! They have a great beer selection, awesome servers and a wicked patio! We have also booked their cellar space for events and took some of our wedding photos here! We recommend it to any of our friends that are looking for a place to go in red deer!
