Rooms are a little dated. Could use a reno....
Not a terrible experience though, staff was friendly, walking distance to many things.

I am a senior lady with a small dog and attended my son's wedding in Vulcan this past August weekend. I stayed 2 nights here and was very pleased with 1st - the pleasant lady at the desk upon check in and 2nd - the cleanliness of the room as well as it looking well maintained. Everything functioned just as it should. The air conditioning worked very well and was surprisingly pretty quiet. The bed was comfortable. I did not eat at the restaurant so can't say anything there.
I read the reviews before I booked at this hotel and, because of some of the comments, was feeling cautious...but was pleasantly surprised. I got the impression that these owners have been working hard to keep rooms well maintained and very affordable!

Decided to spend the night in Vulcan since we had a couple back to back hockey games. Arrived and the staff was friendly even offered to take my bags.We got a suite with a full fridge and stove. Everything appeared fine on first glance we had to drop our things and run to the next place. When we got back I realized how dirty and disgusting it was. We had to use the phone since we didn’t have the wifi password but the phone had so much dust it looked like it hasn’t been cleaned in months. Went to use the microwave to make popcorn and the same thing not clean. The worst part was the toilet it was disgusting. It looked like surface level clean but the bottom hasn’t been cleaned in a long time. The toilet lid actually came off as well. The beds seemed fine as I checked them before we slept in them. The room had lots of space. Walls are super thin and you can hear everything. Spoke with the staff upon check out and explained how gross it was but they didn’t seem like cared at all. Will never stay here again !
Rooms: The room was dirty, we had to ask to change rooms.

New owners I think. Fair bit of work to do yet. Room was clean. Hotel was quiet on Friday night. Good enough. Shower pressure made up for long drive. Pretty sure it would peel paint.Nearby activities: Right DT for star trek stuff. Close to food.Walkability: Small town. Easy walking.

So we got this inn as it was closest to a wedding that we were attending. We came around 1800hrs to check in and no one was manning the desk. After 20 mins of waiting, calling the hotel, calling the number listed on the front desk, the people who ran the place walked in. I assume they went out for dinner. I don’t have an issue with people going out for dinner but I think what would have made my experience better is if they had a sign stating they were out and when we would expect them to come back as we had a wedding rehearsal that we were almost late for because of this. When the couple walked in, there was no acknowledgment of them being absent. We received keys to our room and on the first floor, you can access the room from the inside and outside. No dead bolts but the door automatically locks from the outside and there is a chain. I had trouble opening the door from the outside. Took many tries. The room itself was alright. It came with a table, a microwave, and fridge. The were only two plug ins. The bathroom toilet paper roll was empty upon arriving and they had a full toilet paper roll on top of the toilet. The beds seemed clean enough. Smelled like an old hotel room. Could use some airing. It had an air conditioner. While we were waiting for service there didn’t seem to be any workers at the restaurant or the lounge to help as well. I think in the end it was an alright experience given the limited choices. They did do housecleaning daily which is nice.

I'll start with the positives. Thankfully the air conditioning worked very well as it was 35 degrees celsius so the room was nice and cool. The towels were super soft and absorbent. OK, now that I'm done with the positives let's continue. This hotel needs to be demolished and something new built. It's very old and smells musty. Funny thing was that they still use actual keys to open the room doors. Not a key card but an actual metal key on a key ring. - The room floor didn't look like it had been swept for a while and had pieces of something that stuck to my feet so I kept my shoes on most of the time. - The bed didn't have a comforter/bedspread just a sheet and a thin felt blanket. - Virtually no insulation so you heard anyone around you walking and talking. I could hear the TV's in other rooms if I didn't have mine on. - Speaking of the TV, I had to set up the wifi in order to use the TV. There was an instruction sheet on how to connect it but even when I did it would lag so bad it was hard to watch a show so eventually I gave up. - The wifi was so bad that I couldn't even use my laptop to watch anything so I had a quiet evening. - Every time I went by the front desk there was never anyone there. Then to top off this awful stay I had someone from housekeeping unlock my door with their master key at around 9 am without even knocking to see if I was awake. Fortunately I had the chain lock on the door so he didn't just walk in. There weren't any "Do Not Disturb" door hangers to hang on the door knob. Annoyingly someone else from housekeeping came by about 30 minutes later to check again. All in all this was one of the worst stays I've had at a hotel and I definitely won't stay here again.

Stayed here again for the Vulcan Tri-Athalon. This place is perfect across from Vulcan tourist centre , sub shop and A & W . Older place but clean and comfortable. Bill the manager is one of the nicest people I have met. Will be back again next year!

Decent room for a decent price. No coffee on site was the only complaint.Walkability: Most things are within walking distance. Town has limited things but enough to entertain for a couple days.
