We had a very pleasant experience at The Gathering Place Co op Restaurant. The atmosphere was warm and very inviting, making it a perfect spot for casual meal or special occasion. From the moment I walked in, I can tell that the place was recently renovated, furnished with combination of antiques and modern wooden tables and chairs giving the whole place a beautiful rustic vibe. Decors of arts, with an option to buy (mostly paintings from a local artist) are hanged all over the place allowing customers for a conversation. The menu offered a nice variety of dishes with locally sourced ingredients. Served family style, we tried the shoulder blade pulled pork with a side of parmesan french fries, both were perfectly seasoned and delicious! The size we ordered were for 2 people but the portion can be easily shared among 3. They are reasonably priced too. Staff were very friendly. The female server was very attentive and provided us with excellent service throughout our meal, while taking the time to talk to us. I appreciate that the owner came out and talk to us as well and gave us information about some upcoming events and activities to look forward to in the spring and summer. These are some of the things that make want to come back again and try other food in their menu. In today’s age when it’s difficult to find a restaurant where quality food and service co exist, The Gathering Place Co op Restaurant is one of the few places in Alberta that stands out and I highly recommend it. I call this restaurant a gem in the rough. Although worth a drive, it is an hour from Edmonton but if you are driving towards Fort McMurray, this is very convenient pace to order ahead of time, pick up and go.

We had heard great things about this place. But we had a terrible experience. I took a bus load of seniors there on a Thursday night. There was 11 of us. They charged us 18% gratuity and didn’t tell the people so they paid tips on top of tips. They changed the restaurant menu to some kind of family thing so you couldn’t get a nice one person meal with salad and a side order and it was ridiculously expensive. I had a schnitzel and it was a overly deep fried, dry, flavorless with 3 tablespoons of mushroom soup on it. Three of our party had to take there food in take out trays because they couldn’t get it made in an hour and a half and we where on a schedule.

Had dinner here and thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. We had no idea what we were walking into but had a great dining experience. The food was fresh and well prepared.

This was our first time here and although we learned it was a new menu and chef from just a week ago we’re not impressed. It is now family style meals which was fine but the portions were not large at all, especially for the price. The schnitzel was paper thin and lacked flavour, the coleslaw was too chunky and the apple cider flavour was over powering (and cost an astounding $17), the pasta was good but not warm when we got it. Overall we felt it is overpriced mediocre home cooked meals and likely won’t be back.

Such a fun hidden gem on the highway. Loved the food, we made use of the deck of cards on the table while we waited for our food which was delicious. I loved viewing the local art on the walls, and had a lovely chat with the owner as well.

Very disappointed, to start the waitress informs us they are out of half of there menu items, which limited our choice. So I was stuck with Salisbury Steak(hamburger) with parm fries. The hamburger was a tough puck, the fries were awesome. My friend had mashed potatoes with his and could swear they tasted like boxed mashed potatoes. We were the only ones in the place and it took 40 mins. So sad. I loved the Maple Tree Grill. Others rave the reviews. Maybe we got a bad day and am willing to give it one more try when I am out that way again, if they went grocery shopping!!

Stopped for lunch on a motorcycle day ride. Passed this restaurant many times on my way to Ft. Mac and always wanted to eat here. Was not disappointed. The cabbage roll soup was delicious and just the thing to warm up on a chilly windy day!
