49th State Brewing - Anchorage

Great local brewery with amazing service. You HAVE to try the Yak burger it was absolutely amazing.

Let me start by saying that our server was wonderful, and none of this is her fault. That said, I will never return to 49th State.

We were the first to be seated on the patio, yet nearly every other guest was greeted, served water, and helped before anyone even acknowledged us.

When we finally placed our order, I made the mistake of choosing the steak. I ordered it rare, but what arrived was grey and well done. I had plans to attend a show after dinner, and because our wait had already been much longer than expected, I was worried there wouldn’t be time to have it remade. I let our server know and told her that if a new steak would take too long, I’d be fine just having fries instead. I’ve never sent food back in my life, but this was a $39 steak that looked terrible, so I felt compelled to say something.

She checked with the kitchen, and they told her it would take about seven minutes to prepare a new one. But shortly after, a manager came by and said it would actually be another 10–15 minutes. At that point, we asked for the check so we could go ahead and pay. When I saw I was still being charged full price for a meal I wouldn’t even have time to enjoy, I decided to just pay for what we already ordered and leave.

In the end, I sat there for an hour and a half and left without eating anything. They comped two of our four drinks, but honestly, I would have much preferred a decent meal.

Nick was phenomenal! His recommendations were on-point and his service was top tier!

Popular place that gets really packed by 5:00pm, so get a reservation or go early to get a good table. We were upstairs, but were tucked against the back wall, which negated the amazing views from the front tables and balcony (the main reason we waited to be seated, so that was a drag). My elk burger was good, but tasted like any other burger I've ever had. Tater tots were excellent though. Imperial stout was also very good. I didn't really like the Smök beer. Tasted weird, tbh. They have a full list of in-house brews though, so you'll find something that suits you. Waiter was attentive and patient with substitutions on the menu and splitting the check for business dinner accommodation.

NOTE: I was almost mugged in broad daylight (7pm) one block from this place. The neighborhood is not safe, so act accordingly.

The chowder that we had was congealed, it was separated. It was sour we had brussels sprouts they were overcooked, and burnt and the jalapeños that were wrapped in bacon. You couldn’t even bite them. You couldn’t bite through them. You could not tear through the food. We sent it all back the Long Island ice tea was garbage. I didn’t even finish it. It was very, very weak. My wife’s cosmopolitan was stronger than the Long Island. Then we were still billed $27 for the two drinks. The service and the ambience of the location was good not the food at least late at night. Drunk it’ll be the drinking restaurant

Best beer cheese I’ve ever had in my life

Amazing food when I had to cook me to Alaska for a job I was looking for fresh halibut and found it here. Amazing food. Great service

Food and Service were great. We order appetizers but the lovely couple having a date next to us ordered the Alaskan King Crab. It looked and smelled so amazing we had to have some. The waiter was kind enough to take the time to show our check to the manager so we could be priced fairly and the waiter got us our King crab. I haven't seen my wife so happy in a minute! Worth it! Amazing experience and amazing crab. I really enjoyed the beer as well!

We dined here April 24th, 2025. We had the Yak Burger and Fish & Chips. The food was absolutely delicious! The service was outstanding!! Our server Marko K was awesome! His attention to detail and recommendations were spot on & genuinely enjoyed the conversation with him! We will definitely come back and highly recommend to others!

We didn't dine, but the restaurant had a cozy, inviting ambiance and friendly staff. It made the perfect setting before heading into the candlelight concert.
Looking forward to returning for a full experience.

A bit pricey, but other than that... Great!

As always, great service and food! Best to make reservations. We had the king crab dinner buy one get one free and it was amazing!! A little on the spendy side if it wouldn't have been 2 for 1.

There flies flying around our food and table the entire time. My family wanted to rush out of there asap. Very disappointing

came here on first night in Alaska, feeling jet lagged, but awoke here!
love this place so much! staff are quick and super polite! food is delicious and seating is nice! would definitely recommend!!
