Was calling around for custom cakes for my Son's 10th birthday. I was shocked to find out how expensive this place was and their rates (Example:$125 starting for 10" cakes, 75$ for types of filling/icing) I had ordered the cake for 2 weeks in advance and asked for a refund the day after ordering, so I could find somewhere more affordable, they told me they do not give refunds, and that I have to take the cake, even though it hasn't been made and it's been less than 24 hours since order was placed. DO NOT GIVE THIS CAPITALISTIC PLACE YOUR BUSINESS. Total was $120 for a 10" cake with only 2 layers........Garbage.Everyone, please note the "owner" going through and attacking anyone who left a negative review with his victim-blaming demeanor and gas-lighting actions.None of the details he has mentioned in his reply to this review are factual. He came here to do damage control with nothing but fabricated lies to make him and his cake-shops look better. Do not fall for it. Go look at all the other negative reviews that were left, and HOW he responded to them. His actions speak for themselves.

Do not use this bakery. I placed an order for a custom birthday cake, which was only 8” and 2 layers and it ended up being $115. Less than 24 hours after placing the order I had requested a refund because of the transaction not being authorized at that amount. They told me “we do not give refunds under any circumstances” I reminded them that the cake was ordered 2 weeks in advance, and that I didn’t sign anything saying it couldn’t be canceled. On the receipt it says “no refunds or returns on bakery items” The fact that I didn’t actually receive an “item”, and there was nothing to return, should logically not fall into this category or scenario. No items were given, no materials were used. What a disgusting capitalistic, anti-consumer, anti customer service policy. Save your money and time. You can get far better and bigger cakes for much less here in Anchorage. Shame on you @Alaska Cake Studio. I will never give you my business again, and I will make it my mission to deter as many people as I can from using your business.

I received a birthday cake as a gift. Although the cake tastes good, my best friend asked for them to write "that girl since 85" in pink however they wrote it in Forrest green. She placed her order in person. When she picked the cake up and told them it was in the wrong color they told her there was nothing they could do about it. This is not the first time they have messed up on a cake that was placed by her. The first time was for a retirement party in September that cost $400!They didn't offer a discount or anything for their mistake or an apology on either situation. They will never get our business ever again. As they don't own up to their mistakes, poor customer service and they don't listen to their customers request!!

Is it so very unfortunate to write this poor review on the cake I received as a gift, as I have enjoyed many delicious desserts here with my kids! My fiancé, ordered a custom chocolate cake with a mushroom picture on top of it. The cake was beautiful. (Side note, I bake custom cakes as well for birthdays. But this year I wanted a professional cake as a gift instead of crafting my own.) The chocolate cake was either so over cooked or freezer burnt that it had very little flavor. It seemed as if it was drenched in simple syrup to cover up the fact it was incredibly dry and crumbly and had so little flavor. The chocolate ganache filling was also very skimpy and terribly uneven. I feel horrible writing this, as I don’t want to tarnish this studio’s reputation but seeing other customers similar reviews and this is STILL a prevalent issue, I decided to voice my experience as well. For how expensive these cakes are, you’d figure they would care to not cut corners. It is extremely upsetting to know that these cakes are on the higher price end in anchorage and it is a common issue with the VERY basic recipe and preparation of a cake. Please do not serve overcooked or freezer burnt cakes. Please do not cover up a recipe mistake or baking mistake with simple syrup. Please actually put the filling people pay for in the cake properly.

I've been here a couple of times now, and their desserts have always been delicious! Highly recommend the raspberry jam bar and the chai chocolate caramel!

I'm very happy I came across this store. The owner was very nice and talked about his selection of deserts in detail. A slice of red velvet cheesecake was either $6 or $6.50 and it was absolutely worth it!

Just paid $6.50 for a red velvet cupcake. Was told to wait 20 minutes for butter to come to temperature. I went shopping and an hour later took a bite. It was so dry I could barely get it down. It tasted like a cupcake that has been sitting in the refrigerator for two weeks. All the moisture was sucked out of it. I asked if I could get a different one and was told exchanges are not allowed. So literally $6.50 + in the trash. The employee was kind and professional so that’s why I’m giving my experience two stars.

Baked goods were sweet and delicious.Beautifully decorated.Pricing on par with the area.Friendly and quick service.Great assortment to choose from. Also has a board with coffee and tea options. They also have merchandise Nice spot right next to JCPenny & Wells Fargo, by the kiddie rides area. Seating is bar style looking outwards.Good place to sit, chill while sipping a drink and having a snack. Sent the kids to do some mall shopping and have some "me" time. No rushing out the door or stares.

We happened to find Alaska Cake Studio as we went to the 5th Street Mall looking for morning pastries. While they don't carry pastries they have cupcakes and brownies to die for. Cupcakes for breakfast? Yes please. The owner was friendly and helpful with some good information for 2 tourists who were relying on our own leg power to get around. This is a definite YES

Disappointed with the cake and the service. I ordered a custom chocolate cake with strawberry filling for my wife’s birthday. Found that the strawberry filling was really limited and chocolate fondant was easily coming off. The cake in itself was really sweet.I had scheduled the delivery at 1pm but they delivered the cake to my hotel at 7.30am and did not notify me. The cake was just sitting outside for 5 hours. When I called them to ask, the operator did not know where the cake was and I had to go through several back and forth to know the status. This after paying $30 for the delivery within Anchorage. Will never order from here again

Staff was friendly. We put in 2 weeks for a custom cake. We gave them pictures and how we wanted the images to look like. The lady at the store assured us that they had one of the best artists in town and we won’t be disappointed. Unfortunately, we were really disappointed. Not only our cake wasn’t ready, the lady made us feel like it was our fault that we scheduled it early and said that the time to pick up cakes starts at noon. She suggested to take a walk, but we had reservations at a place where we were going to take cake to..For scheduling something 2 weeks in advance, I would think that’s enough time do this.It looked rushed. It’s a birthday cake, when people give a time for pick up, there’s a reason why.If there is a policy about the time cakes can be picked up, 2 weeks is enough time to notify the customer that the time needed to be changed, we would have been ok with that.I wouldn’t go here for custom cakes, it’s different with the cakes they make to sell. For custom cakes, I wouldn’t want to come here again.

DO NOT I repeat do Not get anything that is not baked here. This is the second time I got something not baked and it was the Yukon gold I took one bite after taking it home and putting it in the fridge for less then an hour and the taste and the texture was like putting a stick of very salted butter in my mouth and I had several other people tast it and they agreed all they can taste was salt and butter no chocolate. The other thing I got that was not baked was a custard and it was flavorless just tasted like salt and sugar. The cakes are ok but I know several other places in town that have better cake flavor in it and better frosting for better price and is local too. The only reason I gave 2 stars was the customer service was amazing.
