Just walked out after experiencing the rudest waitress in my life! When she took our order for what we wanted to drink, I expressed that we were ready to order our meal, as well… Her very short & curt response was “You’re ready, but I’m not!!!! I’m sure you understand!” I said, “ No, I don’t!” It’s your tone that I don’t understand!”I absolutely understand that she may have felt overwhelmed because she was working alone, which we didn’t know… I could appreciate her situation if she had expressed that in the beginning. After all, you’re in the people business, right? It wasn’t what she said, it was how she said it. I don’t give my money to a business that can’t give common courtesy!

Cozy place for breakfast or lunch. Consistent and interesting menu and beer selection, the kids love it for waffles & pancakes.Vegetarian options: Substitute a veg patty for meat /eggs and there are plenty of filling veg options

My partner and I came here for brunch and we were so pleased! Service was fantastic. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. I had the maluska Benedict with the salmon lox and it was one of the most delicious meals I've had out. Really loved it here. We will be back!

So to start this experience, I will mention the dark dining room before the hostess asked if I was waiting for another to join me. As they have a sign up that clearly discourages solo dining. I personally tend to get nervous when I am the only patron in the establishment. But I shall as always press on. So this will be interesting as I can'tsee anything actually being cooked. I can see the kitchen but haven't observed actual cooking. Nor can I hear any cooking. As my food arrives I have a simple presentation. Eggs Benedict with country potatoes. Unfortunately the flavors are not present. Very dull, lots of paprika and not a good paprika. Similar to the flavors of a deviled egg. Since my plate was served so quickly I suspect that most if not all was reheated. And fairly cold. I attempted to eat 10% of it but couldn't. Unfortunately another cost cutting restaurant. The potential was there but the passion was not.

Excellent customer service but overpriced and underwhelming food. The curry chicken sandwich tastes like a simple chicken salad sandwich, theres no real flavor there. I have had better curry chicken from grocery stores for 1/3 the price. Zero out of ten for the sandwich. The latte was good and my side of potatoes, while a small portion, was also good.

Am a fairly frequent visitor, particularly after the pandemic. Usually am there on the weekends, though have also visited for lunch during the week. Have found not only the food to be quite good, but the service very good as well; for example, on the weekends, when you order coffee, you rarely have to ask for it to be filled as they will often come by and check to see if you need more, and refill your cup for you. My fav breakfasts are between the waffle with berries and cream - don't know what they add to it, but the best Belgian waffle in town, and the Bavarian Apple Cake - so yummy! And, my wife loves the Egg Benedict. So if ur looking for somewhere that has great breakfasts, u can't go wrong with Cafe Amsterdam.

wanted to get breakfast very rudely approached by staff told I had to wear a mask to eat here, she wasnt even polite about it...I hope they know they are going to lose business with such an attitude... I would've gladly worn a mask, her attitude made me uncomfortable....Kavas is a far better resteraunt with better food, better prices, and nicer staff....Cafe Amsterdam needs to be shut down, being ran by a narcissistic tyrant.

Oh my goodness the food here is absolutely amazing. Large portions and a lovely European flair. Lots of healthy choices. The staff was so nice!

It's one of our new favorites. Food has been excellent every time. Their Eggs Benedict options are the best I've seen in Anchorage so far. As with any place like this, timing is important, but even overburdened staff handled us well.Kid-friendliness: Best grilled cheese!Parking: Plenty of it.
