I went to this restaurant March 6 and on the 9th as I was passing through Anchorage with my mom the food, service and atmosphere were incredible. The place is kept so clean and beautiful and everyone was so kind! The food was so amazing! The owner is the sweetest women I have ever met she invited us back a few days after our first visit to celebrate a competition win I got from a competition I was at in wasilla. This was a great experience!

Not only is it run down and dirty, the food is absolutely terrible. The easiest way to describe the food was greasy tasteless slop. To top off my whole terrible experience, it cost $96 dollars. Absolutely atrocious. Worse than McDonald’s. Will update if it gives me food poisoning.

The food is okay, but the problem is if you're dark skinned person you should avoid this place. They will treat you as a second class although they are also Asians.
This is one of our go to for take out. Delivery is fast and reliable. Food is very good. Egg foo yung is my favorite.

I have been going to China Lights for many years only one time a few years ago but I think the quality of the food was inferior to what I normally got. I've been there three times now since August 2024 and the food seems to continue to get worse. All my usual go-to's were terrible and even things are normally would not eat we're just as bad. I asked the girl that took my money if there was a new owner and she said no I told her I was very disappointed she mumbles something rocked her head and walked away. I will not be back. Is very disappointing I used to look forward to going to China Lights.

Was looking for a more authentic buffet with seafood options. While there was a big variety overall, it have very little seafood and wasn't what we were looking for. The servers were very kind, attentive and friendly so that part was done well.
Dietary restrictions: Buffet was ok but not great. Many dishes appeared to be mislabeled.
Kid-friendliness: It's fine for kids
Wheelchair accessibility: It's accessible.

My daughter wanted Chinese food while we were in Anchorage to ice skate. Being unfamiliar with the local restaurants, we looked online. Having been spoiled by truly amazing Asian food in the past, we chose China Lights. We were not disappointed! The food was beautiful and awesome! Very colorful and flavorful. The restaurant was clean and the had a joyful feel. The owner and wait-staff were attentive, kind, and showed a true enjoyment of their jobs. Miss Tracy was genuinely super kind to my daughter and I. Going to a place where people really enjoy what they do makes a big difference in the overall experience! Definitely added to my favorite stops list in Anchorage.
The food is okay, a little on the greasy side :)
Parking: No problem getting a seat on a weekday
Kid-friendliness: The kids liked the food

I drove from Fairbanks and was excited to try this place since there are no buffets in Fairbanks, plus this was highly rated and had pictures advertising seafood on the buffet. Before visiting the location, I saw that the restaurant posted pictures of crab legs, crawfish, and Dungeness crab, all of which I assumed would be served since the dinner buffet price was almost $30 a person. There wasn’t any of that. Most of the seafood present were small low-quality shrimp, octopus bits, steamed clams, salmon, and another baked fish that wasn’t labeled. The food was subpar. Some dishes were salty and most were cold, and the buffet ran out of food quickly. The sushi was decent but none of the rolls were labeled so I had no idea what I was grabbing until I ate it. Service was decent. The waitress was kind and attentive but was chatting with the table behind us about her whole life story, which was a distracting.
Overall, I was disappointed by the lack of advertised seafood and felt like I was deceived. I know that food in Alaska is expensive, but I did not think the dinner buffet was worth $30 a person. The variety was nice but nothing in particular was worth the visit for me.
