“THE BEST RIBS” I’ve ever had!!
Thought it’s Big, but it’s HUGE!!
Tender and melt in mouth, best sauce, fresh coleslaw, best spices java yellow rice I’ve ever had, even better than in my country… TOP RECOMMENDED!!
4.5 stars! Just ordered the family combo and an order of pork belly, and was impressed! The amount of food you get from this place is so much and the quality is great! The ribs were both my husband and Is favorite. It was incredibly tender and flavorful! The pork belly was also delicious and juicy! Definitely going to be adding Chowders to our list of places to order from. The staff was also very friendly and prompt 😊
Was not aware this was a BBQ restaurant. We ordered the family and it is very reasonably priced as well as good portions. The BBQ itself was great and definitely must have again. The rice needs a little more flavor but it was still good. I would love to recommend more sides… the Chowder was so yummy! Thank you!
The best BBQ ribs I've ever had the coleslaw was better than KFC used to be the brownies was worth the price of the meal. The meal included the brownie the 1/4 rack of ribs coleslaw Java rice and a cup of some very tasty clam chowder for 15the best BBQ in Anchorage that I've had
Such a nice guy and his food is great

First the good. The value for what you pay is pretty decent especially here in Anchorage. I ordered the family combo and it definitely came with a lot of meat for the price. The rolls that came with the clam chowder were the best part of the meal that I'm pretty sure they were store-bought. They tasted a lot like the Costco rolls. The cucumbers were missing which was the first disappointment. The meat wasn't very flavorful. When I purchase from a place that sells barbecue and clam chowder as their main selling points I expect both to be very good. The meat was not cooked in a smoker. The chicken, ribs, pork butt tasted very similar to how it cooks when I make it in my instant pot.m and finish it on my grill or in my broiler. Definitely tender but lacking the smoky quality that one wants when purchasing barbecue. The rice had been held for a really long time and was so dry it was impossible to eat. I had high hopes for the clam chowder but the only found celery no clams or potatoes. The soup itself was so thick it was much more like a gravy than a chowder and I found it very bland. A little Tabasco helped me get it down but I only ate half the portion before I give up. The coleslaw was held too long as well and lacked flavor. I always have high hopes for local places but this is just another disappointment.
opted to purchase a soup to take home for mom for dinner and when we pulled up? found many more options than soup and it was reasonably priced, super delicious and fast service! Definitely enjoyed the meal =)
My roommate suggested this place. He goes like every week. I stopped by 2-weeks ago and ordered the full rack. The pork ribs were so tender. You could bite through the bone, which I did a few times. The BBQ sauce is on the sweet side vs a mild heat, which I'm more accustomed. Again it is very tasty, just not what I expected. Will I go again? Probably... more than likely. Do I recommend it? Of course... this is Anchorage we're talking about, Chowder Express ranks in the top 10 for quality food experiences in Alaska. So go out and get you some ribs. 😋
Best bbq we’ve had in Alaska, hands down! Got the family combo and had so much leftovers for our family. The ribs and pork are absolutely delicious. Plenty of sauce. Rice is tasty.
Prices are also very fair and reasonable!!
The best! The portion is huge and the meat ribs are super yummy and tender. $15 combo is way affordable for the quality and quantity of food you get. Highly recommended.
