I absolutely love the seafood chimichanga. The staff are always friendly. They greet you when you walk I. And when you leave

The food was excellent! Carmen and Michael are so accommodating-kept are glasses full and returned multiple times asking if we needed more.

Sunday Brunch - exactly what was needed. The chilequiles were by far the best part but the Tacos de lengua were a close 2nd. Star of the show though? The SALSA! holy smokes. Service was very fast and the staff was pleasant.

For reals...I count going to this restaurant among one of the best choices I made recently...! I was visiting Anchorage, and was wanting breakfast, but in the back of my tummy's mind, I knewI really wanted a Chicken Chimichunga....LOL...so I searched Yelp, and thankfully, it was VERY CLOSE TO ME, and I went. Always up for an adventure! When I walked in the staff was so pleasant and happy to see me. I was served chips and salsa, and just FYI, the black salsa cup is the HOT one....I don't know if that's an 'industry standard' (LOL)...but they are both delish. I was served fresh, hot beautiful food in a matter of a few short minutes....like 5-7 minutes. It was early, before lunch rush, but from what I saw with the other customers as they trickled in, that was pretty standard...fast! The restaurant did start hopping, shortly after I arrived, and each customer was greeted with the staffs joyful welcomes....it was just lovely. The Chicken Chimichunga and Beef Tamale I ordered for the lunch special was ridiculously amazing. I meant it when I said it was one of the best choices I've made recently. Fairly priced, wonderfully staffed, fabulous food. Nothing to wonder about...go...and then go back. I'm ALMOST glad I don't live in the area...I am sure I'd spend way too much time here. LOL

This is a great place for authentic Mexican food. I had the lunchtime Fajita Chicken Salad. A great light lunch that I made two meals out of. And the server with her infectious smile comped me a horchata for my wait. This place is always on my list when I travel from Kotzebue.

Will you recently discovered El Dorado and find their Mexican food to be absolutely fantastic! The service was very friendly. We will go there many times in the future.

Our food was fresh, hot and delicious, and the service was fast. My husband thought his carne asada was the best he has ever eaten, and my chicken enchilada was also excellent. Great experience!

We walked in and was greeted by about 5 employees, got to our table, given ice waters and chips with salsa. It was a booth table, my seat had a heavy indentation where most people sat so I had to adjust my seating. We got our food on time and was good and finished our dinner with fried ice cream. We will come back to try out some new dishes.

This place used to be really good the past few years. above and beyond!! Our favorite place. Lately the past few months or so, I think they have gotten new owners, not sure. But the past few times we came, the service was not good and the waiters seem to not care about giving good service and money hungry!!!!!!! I literally found a piece of huge plastic in my food and they didn't do anything about it. And I decided to give them one more try and the waitress was passive aggressive and overcharged me and gave herself a larger tip. Didn't care to complain again. GET NEW PEOPLE THEY SUCK

A great Mexican restaurant centrally located with an assortment of Mexican lagers on tap. They also have very tasty margaritas. Unlimited chips and salsa with great menu items. I usually get either the Chile Verde or chicken tacos. I wish I could give it 4.5 stars, but am resorting to 4 because of the beans and rice that come standard with each dish. The rice seems dry and bland, but has a medley of mixed veggies in it (carrots, peas, etc). I don't find them a nice addition to standard Mexican rice. The refried beans are sort of runny and bland.

Absolute let down. Only thing going for it was a friendly waiter. Chips are stale and taste like....actually they have no taste. My carne asada tacos, beans, and rice were average at best for over $20 and my margarita was just cheap tequila in some watered down slush. Won't go back.

El Dorado is located in the strip mall cluster of Tudor and Old Seward. They have a lovely entrance with cultural decor spread throughout their space. We came for a late lunch and were seated right away. Our server was welcoming and accommodating. Food and drinks came out fast. The margaritas here were awful. Tried to get through them so we could order brew. I got the feeling El Dorado definitely caters to their American customer base. I ordered a dish with steak and it was very plain-Jane. I do not visit Mexican restaurants for salads. Especially salads with no dressing and with lots of avocado. No indication on the menu I'd be getting a handful of rice, no beans and this dry salad as a side. My spouse got a few tamales and although they had good texture and flavor, they poured enchilada sauce on top? Not bad but not the best. Besides the jalapeño poppers that had great breading, nothing else about our meals were memorable. Despite the hype, El Dorado is not at the top of my Best Mexican in Alaska list.

Good food. Good Service. No Complaints. The salsas were good, you can tell they were made fresh.

I tried this place when it first opened, I'm guessing around five years ago. They didn't have a liquor license at the time but the food was pretty good. For whatever reason we've just never gone back, until last night. I could see right away that they had a liquor license so I was eager to try a margarita with my food. I got the peach margarita and it was fantastic. When the chips and salsa got to the table I have to be honest, the chips did not look very good and that's usually my barometer for how good the Mexican food is. The chips were actually not too bad but the salsa was incredible. I was pretty surprised but pleasantly! I ordered the Carnitas and not a lot of places have authentic Carnitas so I was excited but nervous to try. They were perfectly cooked and crisp to my liking. Loved them! My husband always orders the burrito Asada at most Mexican Restaurants that we go and he said the meat in this burrito was the best he's had. The service was fine, not overly friendly but nice enough and quick. I'm really glad we gave this place a second chance, we will definitely be back!

Decided to give the highest rated Mexican food restaurant in Anchorage a try. I have to caveat this review by saying I was born and raised in El Paso, Tx. I can make everything on the menu and then some, BUT the husband and I still like to visit one occasionally and rate them fairly. So first the chips and salsa would get this place a 3 star easily. The chips are thick and stale, cold and in one word blah. The salsa was okay. The mild sauce was flavorful, the spicy one had a strange sour rag kind of taste to it. Not sure if it was the tomatoes or cilantro but the taste was off. If you ask however they have a habanero salsa in the back. Being from Texas I'm not huge into the sweetness of habaneros but this was definitely the freshest salsa and the heat was a slow creeper. When ordering here I try to be impartial and like I said, fair. The best way to get the best Mexican food at any restaurant is asking the waiter/tress what they'd order. Our waiter excitedly recommend the chicken chipotle or carnitas. Loving carnitas home made I decided, why not!? NO regrets! The carnitas were amazing 5/5. The flavors were intense the pork was tender, the home made tortillas they were served with were so good. The guacamole was fresh and limey. The beans were very flavorful and not the usual super bland watered downs variety usually served at restaurants, also not overly spiced with cumin (I hate when they do that) these beans were fantastic 5/5 easy. The rice was not good though. The flavors were there, but whoever cooked it definitely over worked it. When you add the flavors to the rice after frying it, you let it sit and plump up. The cook must've mixed and stirred it to death. It was mushy and that really messes with the good rice texture you want with beans. The rice was a 2-3 of 5. Rice is a big deal (I think at least lol) Surprises!! The tamale they served was so good! I don't order tamales at restaurants because they're always a fail (except in California and Texas hole in the wall places) BUT they actually have moist tamales with flavorful masa and wonderfully seasoned pork. 10/5 because I totally wasn't expecting that! We also ordered jalapeño poppers, just because. We figured they'd be frozen and fried but we were hungry. The surprise is that they were house made, flavorful and hot. The breading was very good. Overall- we'd go back. We left full and happy. The service was fantastic, everyone was friendly And the food was so hot we had to blow on it and wait a bit. (After doing the stupid blowing hot air out of your mouth because you didn't realize how hot it was move) If you want authentic, delicious, Mexican food, come by my place , but if you want Mexican food with flavor and a decent evening out while supporting a local restaurant, this is the place to go.
