Great gumbo and oyster po boy. Nice spot that’s different than the other downtown restaurants. Excellent service as well.

I've been going here for many years (since their old location) and while I really enjoy the chicken gumbo and cornbread (yum), I absolutely LOVE the Angel Hair Pasta. It has andouille sausage, shrimp, and chicken, and the sauce is amazing. I always have enough to take some home so I usually get 2-3 meals out of it. Sometimes I make more pasta at home and add it to whatever is left over. So good!!

Let me start with - I am from the south! I've been to Louisana numerous times and have had real cajun food. The Fried okra was cooked to a perfect crunch! The remoulade was probably one of the best I've ever had. You can tell it's housemade.I got Taste of the South:Gumbo - I feel like they make the base and, per order, add meat. You can tell the meat is grilled and then added. Gumbo is like a soup. It gets its flavor while simmering the meat.Red Beans and Rice - I've never had this with no meat in it. Normally, it's even ratio of beans to rice. There's not much rice in it. Beans were cooked to a perfect consistency, not to mushy and not to firm.Jambalaya - This tasted like a sweet tomato soup with stuff in it.Cobbler - Was told it was blueberry. This was def mixed berry. The berry mix was perfect! But this was like berries with a cake on top. Nothing like a Cobbler. The waitress was great! Fast and friendly service. Nice decor and great atmosphere. All this to say: this is not authentic cajun food. It was good, but not what I anticipated.

This is a nice place. To start, they sat us by the front door which was propped open and it was 35° out so we asked to be moved as I was freezing. The waitress brought waters quickly then forgot about us for about 20 min, we were about to leave when she came over and apologized saying she thought she already took our order. We ordered and food and drinks came out fast which was impressive. I can only speak to a few of the items we ordered.Fried Oysters appetizer: the bread and oysters were delicious and the sauce was tasty. Everything was crispy and hot with great seasoning!Shrimp bisque: The flavor was absolutely amazing !!! The only down side was it was a little thin and they had bay leaves or something in it that you couldn't chew so I had to pick them out of the soup but overall it was delicious.Blacken chicken Po'Boy: no complaints here, got half a sandwich. The bread, chicken and toppings were great!Red Beans and Rice: This is a great pairing but It was a lot of beans and little rice. It's a huge portion and my friend didn't come close to finishing it. Overall, it was good and would probably order again.Drinks: we didn't get anything extravagant, vodka soda's were as expected however the old fashion needed some work. The glass was 1/3 full and they clearly missed an ingredient as my friend had treat it more like a shot than a drink due to its strong potency.

Very fast service from only one waitress. The food was even better, really reminded me of Louisiana. Portions were decent for the price as well.

Cool spot with New Orleans decor and a great menu. Both the po boys and the gumbo are fantastic, and the menu goes far beyond them.

One of these days I will try all of the amazing things on the menu... but for the last 10 years I've been getting half a barbecue shrimp po boy and a side of chicken sink gumbo. Haven't been disappointed yet! ?Gumbo House is a wonderful local restaurant with the friendliest owners. I miss the days when they had a Southside location but I still faithfully make the pilgrimage downtown to get my usual at least a couple times a year.

It wasn't very busy, but good portion sizes and food came out fast. Went there for lunch and got the Jumbalaya bowl and a BBQ Poboy for later. The jalapeño corn bread was soft and tasty.
