First and only place I have gotten grits in Alaska! Coming from the south, that's a big deal. I special order a hamburger benny. Both the crab and hamburger benny were delectable.

Gwennie’s is typically a great restaurant with amazingly fast service. I stopped waiting after 57 minutes when others coming in after me received their food before me.

I also saw a significant amount of plates return to the kitchen for wrong orders. The staff looked irritated with the amount of food being returned to the kitchen.

Paying for the items that I did receive at the cashier window downstairs, a staff member was hostile and argumentative. She was annoyed and rude stating that I should’ve simply said that I didn’t want food. I sat at a table to get food, not drinks ?‍♂️.

A small misunderstanding on her end coupled with a sour reaction turned a simple complaint into an undoubtedly poor review and poor overall perception of the restaurant.

It took 45 minutes for a table when we were told it would be 10 minutes. Hostess just sat on her phone after sitting 6 other parties after us. Finally got to a table just to have the dishes be dirty. We left after 20 more minutes of waiting. Don’t get me wrong, I love Gwennies, but something was off today and Gwennies just wasn’t the right pick today.

Gwennies is always good ? I order the corn beef hash and it was pretty tasty it gets really busy on Sunday mornings it took while for us to get seated we also ordered the reindeer sausage and it was alright as well. The service was a little slow is my only complaint but it was also just super busy!

Went to lunch there with my parents before they went to the airport after visiting for the weekend. We went to several restaurants in Anchorage and our last one was Gwinny’s. I will say we got there right before closing but we didn’t know that. Regardless, from the moment we got here it seemed like we were putting the server and host out by coming to the restaurant. They both seemed absolutely pissed that we came in. The chili my mom and I got was sub par, not terrible but definitely tasted like it was from a can. Definitely not worth $9+ for the cup and $12+ for the bowl. And $4 for my glass of milk. The mote cristo my step dad ordered was not bad he said but over $18! We were through ugly disappointed with the service from the busser who barely spoke 2 words to us and gave us bad looks the entire time, food, and prices. I posted about it on an Alaskan foodie group and got private messaged by a family member of the server (that’s what she said) and she absolutely insulted me which is such a bad look for the employee of the restaurant. Also, when I posted on fb ALL of the comments were of people saying how terrible the restaurant is sighting rodents, crazy high prices, and terrible service. Will not return.
