I am long overdue in reviewing, but this is one of my favorite places to eat in Anchorage. It's a small team, and dinner is made to order, so it does take a little longer than you may be used to in other restaurants in town, but the wait is 100% worth it.

The cook/owner is extremely talented and knowledgeable, and my partner and I love it! Highly recommend the Malai Kofta, and really everything else on the menu. This place is a true gem.

I admire son and father working together that night alone. I went specially for biryani they were not offering that night but they made it happen. Loved the freshly made naan and all other item we ordered. One of the best in town.

I can’t believe it took me this long to find this place. I just had the BEST Korma I’ve tasted in many many years. I also met and chatted with the owner who is super welcoming and friendly. Sanjay definitely knows what he’s doing!

This was an incredible dining experience. We ordered hot Chai, with Palak Paneer and Garlic Naan bread. I’m a typical American that likes safe foods and rarely steps out of comfort zones. I was very pleased with my meal and will CERTAINLY be eating here again. The atmosphere was very calming and romantic. This is a father and son ran restaurant. If you want a wholesome experience with an equally satisfying and delicious meal, eat here without hesitation.

This place had hands down the most flavorful and delicious food I have had in a WHILE. The atmosphere is so calm and the service is great. 10/10 I will be coming back and bringing people.

Mandala was such a great experience in every regard. The atmosphere was relaxing with beautiful authentic mandalas on the wall. You can tell Sanjay cares about your experience at his restaurant from the clean environment to making the food fresh to order. Our chicken korma was juicy and flavorful, the garlic naan was perfectly cooked, and he gave us the best advice on how long to brew the darjeeling tea. We appreciate restaurants like this!

Food is good. But I don’t appreciate the older gentleman handling payment coughing on my hand and on my credit card and then in my face. Then he went in the kitchen and continued coughing there. No apology. Just disgusting to get coughed on. Other than that decent food and nice people. But being coughed on constantly was gross. Have to wash everything with soap after.

Don’t be in a hurry. Just enjoy the ambiance and freshly cooked, delicious food. Get the naan served one at a time if they’re not too busy. Fantastic!

Wish I could give it zero stars!!!!!
Hands down one of the worst dining experiences ever. The restaurant was dark and depressing, the food took forever, and starter showed up with the mains. Portions were laughably small — two entrées came with rice barely enough for one person.

Prices were insanely high for no reason. The server/cook/manager (same person!) pushed naan with our curry without saying it would cost an extra $6. When we complained about the awful food, he made pointless excuses and even bragged about making the “best Nepali/Indian food in America.” Absolutely absurd.

On top of that, the service was a disaster — they forgot to bring spoons for the curries, and the attitude and behavior were downright terrible. And then came another ridiculous thing, If a credit card is your preferred method of payment, a processing surcharge of 3.5% will be applied to your bill. He added a sneaky 3.5% fee just for paying by credit card — in 2025, when everyone pays by card! Total scam.

If you want to waste your time and money, this is the place to do it. Otherwise, stay far away.
