I rate this place a 5 on food quality. The food was as good as the best steak houses I have been to. While seating was prompt, food delivery was slow, taking close to an hour. Generally they bring out bread, while you are waiting. Not here, apparently that costs an extra $8, which I thought was a bit chincy. We didn't order an appetizer, which was good as the portion size was decent. But waiting for food for an hour I thought was excessive, but the place was crowded. Atmosphere was very good. And the food was excellent. My GF got a large fillet and I a small one with crab stuffed shrimp. Sauces on the steak and shrimp were excellent. I substituted asparagus for the normal veggies and that was very good. Mashed potatoes were great. More than 3 shrimp would have been nice. Desert was very good. Some type of lava cake with ice cream.

Other than the lack of bread and long wait for food I would have rated this a 5. A bit pricy, but food quality warranted it. I plan on coming back the next time I am in Anchorage.

In Anchorage this is pretty much the norm. Overpriced experiences with rude, forgetful staff. I lived abroad for 12 years, ate around the world, and have money. I choose to wear casual clothing in the state because of the climate and my work. The waiter assessed & treated me and my guest like we didn't belong here. He forgot something every request we made & seemed inconvenienced when we asked him a second time. By the time he brought salt & pepper my food was already cold. I'll happily tip 20% for appropriate service and treatment. Rude, affluent, and presumptive judgement deserves what was given. The filet was incredibly underwhelming, I've had better at Outback Steakhouse. The potatoes bland, and asking for any cocktail other than what's on the menu is apparently too difficult and unreasonable. Not that there's many great options in the city, but you'd be better off at Glacier Brewhouse next door. Might be louder, at least the food is worth the price.

Wonderful service. Wonderful food. Super experience for two birthdays! I can't wait to return here again! Again, wonderful dinner!

Great food in a warm setting right in the heart of downtown Anchorage. We loved the seafood gemelli and parmesan-crusted halibut!

Went for apps and wine. The bar tender was great! He even turned up the heat for us.
Loved the tenderloin bites, and the gorgonzola spread was excellent.

More than once I have visited this place and sat at the bar as I was dining alone. The bar staff is attentive, let's me try a taste of something if I am unsure and even replaced a glass of wine I ordered and didn't like. I don't think I have ever received this type of service and quite the opposite at some well known hotel bars only blocks away. Orso has delicious food and their service is impeccable.

Recommend the Appetizer Tower and salad for a light meal. The Cheesecake for dessert is one of the best in the area. Wait/servers/hostess staff are showing improvement from a year ago... Torneremo

Orsos could be a romantic place for a date night, but the art on walls does not match the ambience. It's weird and goofy. The food was okay. I ordered a $60 ribeye that was very thin and overcooked. Slightly disappointed.

Excellent food. Creative pastas and delicious chicken parm. Fresh seafood. Great service. Love the coat check upon check in with the host. Was convenient to walk to a show near by. We will be back.

The bar tender Kevin changed everything. He went above and beyond. I will say there deserts are pre made and frozen. Avoid them, but everything else was great.
The tenderloin appetizer was overcooked. Avoid that also

We've been coming here since we were visiting Anchorage as residents in the arctic. It's walking distance from our favorite hotel, the Captain Cook, which has several excellent options too. We've had the good fortune to experience most of Alaska's best from each region. The vibe here feels like a bit of them all. They know how to help you pick a menu choice and pair that with the perfect beverage.

Service was amazing. Beautiful scenery. Food was not as good as expected, particularly the ribeye. It was not seared well on bothe sides and barely seasoned at all. The asparagus was not good either. The Tuscan chicken fettuccine was extremely rich and the noodles were tough. I've been here before and had much better food, so I'm hoping this was a fluke.

Menu was limited in choices. Halibut was sold out. Salmon was not labeled on the menu as king, silver, or red, or by their "official" names like chinook. I'm an Alaskan, and I find it annoying when restaurants don't say what it is. For all I know it could be pink salmon. :(
