It pains me to write this review as I know Orso has a good reputation, but it did not deliver at all. Our server did not know how to open the wine bottle we ordered. I had to finally politely ask him to allow me to open it after watching him struggle for minutes. I ordered the Gemelli seafood pasta. The sauce was overwhelming in flavor and quantity. The seafood in the pasta had no taste because the pesto sauce it all that hit the palette. Not to mention the dish was more like a bowl of soup than a pasta. I am not the type to ever send back a dish, but I asked the server to have the chef replace the pasta and seafood on a dish without the bowl of sauce. After 20 minutes, the server brought a brand new entree that was just as soupy as the first. Disappointing meal and experience. I can't recommend this place and won't return. The server being unable to open a bottle of wine properly is a reflection of management. I know it wasn't a bad cork either because I watched the same server struggle to open a bottle for another table as well.
Great foot, great service by Zachary and the whole staff. Portions plenty big, we go by with one entree (the Alaska Seafood Spiedini which was very good) and then added on 10oz crab legs and 3 stuffed shrimp. We started off with the crab cake (awesome) and had the fig and date salad which was very tasty. We had a great meal and a fun time. If we make our way back to Anchorage some day, Orso will be on our radar to visit again.
King Salmon special was amazing! Halibut delicious also. Fig and Walnut salad was great! Service was attentive and friendly!
Good was outstanding, service was very friendly and knowledgeable about gluten free options ( which were also numerous and well labeled)
It was good, the salmon was very fresh, but with so many restaurant choices in downtown Anchorage I can't say it impressed me enough to return.
Fantastic dinner, everything tasted excellent. Our server Doosan was great very professional, very helpful and just a great personality.
We had an excellent, patient server! The food was delicious. We were celebrating friendship, and also a birthday. The waiter/restaurant was very kind on treating the birthday girl with a stellar desert of her choice. All was wonderful there! (THANK YOU!) We had asked to be in a booth by the window (reservations made a week+ prior), however, prior to getting there to meet friends, they were taken upstairs. I was concerned as a few of them are older. It was very loud, and we could hardly hear each other, not the experience we were hoping for. We constantly repeated what we were saying, as the noise level was quite energetic, and in the room upstairs, more confined. Several friends that had not seen eachother in a couple of years. Everything else was stellar. Kudos to our wonderful waiter!
Salmon was unbelievably fresh and sides were delicious. I was upstairs and the tables are close together but the atmosphere was nice. Waiter was attentive and food came out relatively quickly. I would seek it out again on next trip to Anchorage and highly recommend.
We love Orsos! It's the place we got engaged at in 2013 and last night we celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary there. Food was fantastic- we had the Marsala Glazed Tenderloin tips, calamari Misto and seafood spiedini for appetizers. Then we had the special which was a copper River red salmon with polenta and asparagus and Tucson chicken fettuccine. EVERYTHING was perfect, it always is though. Also our drinks were fab, definitely get their old fashioned!! Orsos is such a gem! Service is so great too! We always feel well taken care of and the atmosphere is perfect!
The filet didn't have any flavor and the service took forever and the halibut was dry and slightly overcooked. Overall, a decent experience for our guests and we would try again.

Crab cake meat was grey for some reason with an overly spicy sauce. Found a plastic cap from the dressing container in the salad. The crusted rock cod with couscous and grilled asparagus was bland and flavorless, and we didn't eat it. At that point we had had enough of this bad meal. Ended up going back to our hotel and eating there. This was after the $160+ we paid for what we ordered at Orso. I read an occasional bad review for a restaurant and disregard as a one-off bad experience by some customer, but this was truly an awful meal. Eat here at your own risk.
Everything was good at first. Our server, whose name I couldn't understand as he was Serbian and spoke with a heavy accent. I couldn't understand what the specials were. He seemed to lose interest in us as he had more tables. Asked for and received a desert menu. He took thirteen minutes to return and ask if we had decided. We did. I got the check, paid and left. Very disappointing from Orso's. We are Anchorage people and will think twice before choosing this restaurant again.
We were early for our reservation and seated quickly. The food choices were wonderful . We shared a salad and the Seafood Gemailli and the Shrimp stuffed with crab.. our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable . A very wonderful experience .
We had the best time! It was our servers 4th day and she was a delight! The food was amazing!
We had a lovely dinner and fantastic service. Our waiter, Raphael, was so pleasant and professional. He was knowledgeable about the menu and recommended we try the silver/white salmon as it is a rare treat when available. It was delicious. He ensured we had everything we needed and truly added to us enjoying our anniversary dinner.
