Samurai Sushi – A Rejuvenating Asian Feast in Alaska
After a long day of exploring Alaska, we were craving something comforting and flavorful—Samurai Sushi delivered exactly that. From the moment we stepped in, we were warmly welcomed by the owner, setting the tone for a great dining experience.
Our party of seven was seated right away, and the service remained friendly and attentive throughout. We ordered a variety of dishes including the salmon teriyaki bento box, tuna and salmon sashimi, chirashi, galbi, and tempura udon. Every dish was satisfying, but the standout was the incredibly fresh, thick-cut sashimi that melted in our mouths. To top it off, we shared a plate of fried Oreos—an unexpectedly fun and delicious way to end the meal.
Portions were generous, the pricing was very reasonable, and the quality was excellent across the board. If you’re in the area and looking for a hearty, authentic Japanese-Korean meal, Samurai Sushi is absolutely worth a visit.

This place is AMAZING! Best and biggest sushi rolls in the US not just AK. The owner is an absolutely amazing man, he always takes the time to make me feel at home and we always have a fun conversation. I live off Huffman and I drive all the way to Muldoon and Debarr to get my sushi fix. The owner makes his own soy sauce and salad dressing, I know he makes more sauces but these two are my favorite and just about drinkable they are so good. I could eat there everyday, my go to meal is the Hawaiian roll, pan fried Gyoza and the soup and salad. The Hawaiian roll is perfect for the first timer, it’s nothing complicated nor does it have something “weird” on it. The roll is topped with Big thick slices of fresh tuna, he then tops the tuna with a savory aioli sauce and light soy. Inside is crab meat and cucumber. Very basic but very tasty!

We had such a warm welcome walking into Samurai Sushi. My husband ordered the sushi/sashimi combo—everything was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented. I went with the Korean chirashi, and honestly, it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had in Anchorage. It was packed with fresh vegetables, full of flavor, and refreshingly light without a ton of unnecessary salt. Healthy, satisfying, and delicious. We’ll definitely be back!

Since moving to Alaska, this has been the best sushi I’ve had in Anchorage—authentic Japanese style with perfect shari (sushi rice) and fresh, beautifully presented neta (fish). The owner, Casey, is always welcoming. Their lunch bento is also great, featuring tasty black rice and crispy tempura. Highly recommend for real sushi lovers!

I work in the evenings at Doordash. The first time I received an order, the cook gave it to me, I took a picture, took the order and headed for the exit, but an unpleasant man caught up with me and loudly demanded that I show him my phone, he wants to make sure that it was really my order, although I showed the cook my phone. I didn’t like the unpleasant man’s attitude towards me. A few days later I received an order again. When I went into the establishment, I met this man again. I said: Excuse me, I don’t speak English, I need help. and showed the phone with the order. But he started shouting something loudly, even the customers started watching what was happening. It was a disrespectful attitude towards me and I think that he treats me not only like that. It was very humiliating. If this happens again next time, I will call the police.
