One of my favorites in Anchorage. Staff is friendly, always has good and fresh food options. Feels like a home cooked meal, but more special.

Food was amazing. Service was amazing. However, my celiac wife *did* get cross contaminated there. My other gluten free friends have never experienced that, so it is probably rare. Otherwise, recommend getting the reindeer sausage. Amazing stuff!

Ordered Love on a Plate and the Polar Bear Breakfast. Both dishes were delicious and well presented. The sourdough pancakes were true sourdough, unlike what you would find at many other places in town claiming to serve them. Coffee here is always on point and the service is too. The atmosphere is a chill vibe and comfortable, but can get a bit loud during busy times. If you are tired of regular or subpar breakfasts (or other meals) in town, give this place a shot, you will likely be impressed. Be sure to book reservations if you plan on coming during there busy times, especially weekends.

The food, the food, the food. Everything we ate and drank, was exceptional from tortilla soup, house salad with lemon basil vinaigrette, fried chicken sandwich, and the most delicious Mediterranean gin and tonic. Our server Corey was on point as were Jerry and Marcia who made and served the most unique cocktail. Hostess Elodie was super helpful. I'm anxious to return as fast as I can!

Service was great but food tasted so plain and presentation wasn’t the best. It was missing that chef flavor. Wouldn’t consider it a fancy restaurant.

Finally, a restaurant that knows how to make real sourdough pancakes. If you just stick to downtown you missed a treat. Fantastic full menu.

South is easily one of the best spots in Anchorage for brunch—and the fact that they serve it seven days a week makes it even better. Everything is scratch made and full of flavor, but you absolutely can’t miss their homemade biscuits or the giant caramel pecan rolls (they’re legendary and worth every bite).
Beyond brunch, South has such a fun and community-focused vibe. They host events like food and drink pairings, trivia nights, and twice a month they even do charity bingo in the coffeehouse. The bingo is free to play, and it’s a great way to support local nonprofits while having a good time with friends.
Whether you’re here for a casual brunch, a night out, or one of their events, South delivers every time. Great food, welcoming atmosphere, and a true neighborhood favorite.
