Southside Bistro continued it's legacy of "Never Disappoints". All of the staff involved in our special evening provided excellent customer service. Appetizers , Drink , Entree and Dessert were all delicious and prepared well. Look forward to the next visit.
We had a lovely experience. The server read the table well and didn't rush us as we wanted to catch up with friends. She suggested good alternatives and good pairings. The dinner was cooked to perfection. We love dining here.
The waitress was not as attentive as I would have expected. My order was incorrect, I ordered filet but received a New York steak that was tough and tasteless. My wife's king salmon was excellent, top shelf. The desert was very good but again the waitress neglected to bring me the coffee I ordered with dessert. Fortunately I was for my wife's birthday so that she was satisfied was all that did matter to me. This was below average from my previous visits. I expected better in the fine dining area of the restaurant over the bar area.
We have never had a bad meal, poor service or wished we hadn't come. Great neighborhood restaurant.
Wonderful eatery for both casual and formal dining. Food is always amazing, staff is friendly, service first class and they have a great wine list. Thank you for another great evening!

This is the best restaurant in Anchorage! Really appreciate quality food in a great atmosphere. Especially like that there is no loud music blowing at you! You can actually have a conversation with your table mates without screaming at them.
As foodies traveling from Chicago, we are tough customers. Found this restaurant on Open Table and selected it because it was dubbed a "neighborhood gem." We could not have been more pleased. Do not be put off by the location, tucked into a generic-appearing strip mall. This place truly IS a gem, and it's no surprise it's been around for nearly 30 years. Every dish we had was wonderful, beautifully plated, and thoughtfully prepared. The wood fired cauliflower appetizer delighted with the slightly spicy tahini sauce, brightened by fresh mint. The Kodiak scallops were some of the best I've ever had- large and perfectly prepared, atop a sweet corn & pumpkin polenta that left me wanting to super-clean my plate using my finger. Wow. We shared the dark chocolate terrine for dessert- plenty for two and equally dazzling. I'll add that we do not eat gluten, and dined like royalty here with no problem and no adjustments needed on the dishes we easily selected. Our server was friendly and attentive and she clearly enjoyed how much we were loving our experience. The chef even came out to introduce himself when he learned of faraway travelers who had found his lovely establishment. SO glad we opted to get out of downtown Anchorage for the evening to experience this fabulous meal!

The food at the SS Bistro was unique and delicious! We started the meal with an “Amusement” , then an appetizer of Weathervane Scallops with a Risotto Cake and delusional truffle cream.... Filets, dessert, WOW! All good!

Linda was amazing as always, and went above the above and beyond the beyond for our anniversary celebration. Thank you, Linda! The food portions are generous and, in my estimation, nicely priced for the quality in each plate and the fine dining experience as a whole. The strawberry-rhubarb crumble was sublime with a delightful green tea sorbet. Glad for vegetarian options, too...particularly the roasted cauliflower and the Brie flatbread. See you soon!
The food, wine, and service were outstanding. The Skirt steak was cooked to perfection and the Kodiak Scallops were sublime!! Our server was friendly, efficient, attentive but not overly attentive in a good way. All in all the dinner was excellent!
Absolutely loved the experience! Can't say enough about the wait staff and the cooks. Food was outstanding and delicious.
Wheelchair accessibility: The location is easy for wheelchair and limited mobility.

We had a wonderful dinner along with a great bottle of wine. Afterwards, we shared a Crème Brûlée that we both agreed was the best we had ever had! It was a very enjoyable dinner! Besides that, we really enjoyed our server- besides being very attentive, she was cheerful and fun.
This is the place to eat duck, it's always what I get here. My husband said it's one of the best steaks he had. The only thing I would suggest is to plate their salad in a bigger bowl if they don't cut up the lettuce. It was hard to eat it in a small plate without the salad all spilling over the container when eating it.
