We eat at the Bistro frequently and have tried most of the menu items. Last night I had a the 8-Oz filet, done to perfection, with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh veggies. My wife had the pork schnitzel, which was also amazing. Top that off with a great Caesar salad and a glass or two of Alexander Valley a cab (for me), and a sauv blanc for my wife. Jens always comes through with great offerings. Also, the wait staff have been there a long time, which says something about the loyalty and integrity of the restaurant. It's definitely our go to place in Anchorage for quality dining.
Always a pleasure to visit the Bistro. The appetizer blue cheese custard is a fan favorite for us and have never got a bad batch. The service was pleasent and on top of there tables providing items as needed. Enjoy the open kitchen to see the food coming out and the focus on detail from the staff. Will be back.
Excellent service. Menu was limited and uninspired. I hate to say this because I normally love this place! Their sign out front looks unprofessional and exterior looks poorly cared for. The wine selections excellent.

Jen's the Owner seated us upon arrival with a very courteous greeting. Gina our favorite Server provided her friendly outstanding service. Gina is such an asset to the SSB and makes our visit a wonderful experience, she is the best. The food was very good and our birthday celebration a great experience.

Overall both our meals were fine. My steak was unevenly cooked. Just over half of it was cooked as requested, the remaining portion was barely medium maybe because that portion was a little bit thicker.

Two in our party ordered burgers and said they were okay, the fries were good. Child ordered cheese pizza and loved it. One ordered the skirt steak. The seasoning/sauce was nice. One ordered the veal medallions with brie. That dish was lacking. Veal was minimal, 4 small 1"x1.5" slices and tougher than one would expect from veal. The veal was topped with very thin slices of brie (cheese skin was left on), was not warm and melted, and the lingonberry sauce on top the cheese was cold and overwhelmed all the other flavors. The scallop potatoes were so hard on top they could not be cut through with a fork, and very dry. Overall disappointing meal for the price. Service was very good though, friendly and quick.

Nice wine selection, great food and service and I would come back for the shaved brussels sprouts alone! Really loved the skirt steak, subtle chile heat slightly more than the “not at all spicy” advertised, but balanced and delicious. We could not have been seated any more promptly at our reservation time
First time dining at Southside Bistro. Food and the service was great! Got a little noisy toward the end of our meal, was glad we had an earlier reservation so that we could visit with our friends before it got noisy. But We'd go back!

Southside Bistro was Excellent! Started with Escargo & Sourdough bread- soo Delish! Split the yummy Wedge- so Fresh!! Husband had The Duck- cooked perfectly, I had Fresh Cod special- was very Good & Grandson had Skirt Steak & he loved it! Service was Great - Excellent Wine selection too! Highly recommend!
Southside Bistro is one of our favorite places to celebrate a special day or just reward ourselves with a nice dinner with a side of excellent service! The skirt steak is one of my favorites. This time I went with the pasta special and it was delicious. Everything was perfect, from the friendly atmosphere to the pace. We will keep coming back to this neighborhood gem.

Service was lacking. Took a good 30 mins to wait to order & i didn't realize we could get bread for the table until the end of our meal. Also ordered a glass of wine and the server just plopped it on the table without looking and it almost spilled. We also waited 20mins for our check. The food however was excellent. I might just stick with take out from now on.

We've been dining at Southside Bistro for years. It's our “go to “ place for great food, wonderful ambience, and professional staff. Jens, owner and chef, has put together a fine staff and the menu is varied and exciting. They also have a wonderful selection of beers and wine available. A fireplace on the “bistro side” is inviting to sit near on a cold winter night. I can't say enough good things about Southside Bistro.

Probably the best food in Anchorage. Anna might be the best server of all time. And chef Jens is nothing short of brilliant with a menu listing that's been on point for years.
Always a great meal here.
