Very nice coffee shop. Lots of variety, including craft coffee. They also sell bulk coffee and supplies. Adding to the ambience are paintings from local featured artists.

Service is very slow. Takes 15 minutes to get a coffee even when there are just a few people in line. Orders a routinely missed. Baristas seem to be pretty carefree even when multiple people are waiting. Coffee is very good!

Please label your muffins. I asked the Barista about a muffin. He said it was blueberry. So I got it and gave half to my dog. Come to find out it had CHOCOLATE bits and not blueberry. I know SteamDot doesn't want to kill anyone's dog. So can you please label your muffins so the customers and Baristas know whats being purchased? And so my little pound puppy doesn't get sick? Thank you.

Great espresso, and love that they serve it Italian style with a sparkling water. Nice, quiet atmosphere with plenty of tables and big windows.

Espresso drinker? Steamdot has the best espresso in Alaska due to the proper use of the Slayer Espresso Machine. A Metro vibe and a focus on brighter coffees define the experience.

Every sip, of espresso, showcases the vibrant aspects of their coffee. Pared with a seltzer to cleanse the palate gives a grand espresso experience. The cafes machine allows a long pre infusion phase of the extraction process allowing coffee to be ground finer thereby increasing extraction yields.

Single Origin coffee is roasted to showcase the unique origin character of each coffee. A focus on quality is evident with most bags, depending on the sub species, containing small dense high altitude beans. I have yet to buy a bag that has roasting defects.

Atmosphere is classy and tucked shirt. Large open ceilings with a large use of metal accents give the air of a downtown metropolitan cafe. The feeling is compounded by the regulars who are often professionals in meetings.

While espresso and beans shine, milk drinks suffer from lower quality syrups offered compared to the competition. If Steamdot were to switch to only in-house production or a higher quality brand a fifth star would not be far behind.

V60 pour over and Chemex brewing are the highlights here. It takes a few minutes but worth the wait.

Best lattes in town! Not overly sweet, espresso beans fresh and not over roasted, & espresso shots pulled without having a bitter or burnt taste. The lattes are always consistent in taste and quality. I wish I would have known about this place much sooner!

Previously I have rated SD an easy 5 stars. I have to lower it because there is a lack of consistency. Usually, great coffee, great service. Today, dirty dishes strewn about (as pictured), which were actually adjusted but not removed, they just sat there in a disgusting heap. Slow, unengaging service. AND IF YOU HANDLE DIRTY DISHES, DONT GO ON A LIFT THE SEAL ON THE MILK WITHOUT WASHING YOUR HANDS! Cross contamination is basic food handling service knowledge, and Anchorage’s supposedly elite level flagship cafe should be doing a better job than this.

Mistakes are sometimes made, and are excusable. I’m not unreasonable. Basic sanitation violations are not excusable. Let’s step it up steam dot.

Visited Sunday afternoon for coffee and dessert, but their dessert selection was limited. Their coffee is always good.
