Overall, this place is okay. I found the sushi menu difficult to read due to the way the ingredients were listed; lots of abbreviations, and numbers relating to a key instead of written out sauces. The 3 sushi rolls we chose were good, but not amazing where I was savoring each bite. This restaurant has many other menu items that might shine more than their sushi, but since sushi is all we ordered, it’s the only feedback I can provide.

An incredible spot offering a wide array of fresh nigiri, rolls, and Japanese cuisine. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our time here, savoring every delightful dish. While the server was a bit slow to provide menus and there was a slight wait for all the dishes to arrive, their friendliness and kindness made up for it. I highly recommend visiting with a large group of family or friends to soak in the fantastic atmosphere. The authenticity and quality of the food were outstanding, and the prices were reasonable. Overall, a fantastic dining experience! Yum yummmm推推!

The service was great and fast. We are able to make our out sukiyaki sauce at the sauce bar. The food was absolutely delicious and a great portion for the price. The Small hot pot option was $70 and came with all the meat and veggies in the photo as well as udon noodles. Hidden gem of Anchorage! 10/10

The food had good flavor. And the food is displayed nicely. Also the staff was very friendly! There are three reasons why I'm not giving a full five stars though. My poke was not cut properly. Instead of individual cubes three separate times I pick up a piece and it was attached to another piece and I didn't like that. I'm not sure what to say except sharpen your knives! Also, the music was so loud to me. Maybe if it was more packed with people I wouldn't have noticed so much of the music. But I'm not interested in listening to loud hip hop in a sushi restaurant when I'm trying to have a quiet lunch. And the last reason I can't give 5 stars is I had a hard time reading the writing on their menu. They had red lamps and the menu had red writing on it. And I had a really hard time reading the red writing under the red lamps. It was weird and I wonder if I have something wrong with my eyes. LOL

The sushi was dry and without flavor. The ambiance was meh. The service was fine. I need a more interesting menu.

Alaska Exalted

Love the dark vibe, always get the same friendly service from the same group of servers. Best sushi in Alaska hands down. I used to have to drive to Girdwood to eat at Sakura to justify spending the money on sushi but now I can stay in town!

Sushi Motto: 2.3/5 TLDR: some places gotta do better. Be worth what you charge. The Good; rolls was a good portion, the toro was solid and the sashimi salad was plentiful. Cuts were fresh and thick- rice was solid. However this wasn't the star of the show- if I'm basing the entire visit on the sushi however we'd be at a 3.8- The Bad: at $110 for shabu Shabu I expected a plethora of traditional mix ins- instead we were met with one main protein- and overloaded on "fillers" (bok choy / cabbage) on top of the fact that we were given ONE LITTLE ASS BOWL of udon noodles. The broth didn't have much depth- it was straight dashi. I was so shocked that there was only one bowl of noodles offered that I asked the manager and the serve TWICE if they gave us the right size bowl to which they said that was indeed all you got. Everything else as far as an add on is well over $5. Even accounting the fact that we are in Alaska- if you walked 20 feet next door to Manila stop and shop you could buy your own noodles and sneak them in lol. The sauce bar needed diversity, and there was a huge lack of fresh mix ins in the bar. The servers were sweet but you can tell they need more help. Myself and a couple other tables tonight were constantly looking for assistance and getting anything else after our food was served was impossible. Considering it has been a few months since they've opened it's pretty disappointing. Just speaking from my personal experience; I will say there is a tendency for places to take advantage of patrons in Alaska whilst bringing "new to Alaska" type places. I try to give them the benefit of the doubt they are trying to do their best but just based on the lowest tier hot pot/shabu place out of state it just seems both sushi motto and the other shabu place here are just here to be here. I will be back for sushi, but the shabu shabu to me was a complete rip off. I've gone to countless shabu/hotpot places and this was by far the biggest food to price defecit I've ever seen.

The torched salmon belly and the white tuna nigiri are the best bites of sushi in town! The torched salmon belly is so great we ordered another pair for dessert! Everything else is also good, but these two are phenomenal!
