Went last night and ended up leaving after 20-min without our order being taken. Couple next to us still had menus and their order wasn't taken yet. Only one waiter who didn't seem too interested in moving very fast. Place was not busy when we arrived. In the past it has never been this slow.

Just upset they claim to be halal but refuse to identify any proof. I was told the owner is a Muslim so we can trust it's halal.....lol.
I just mentioned if he were Muslim, then he would know that the restaurant has to show a certification sign that it's halal. Same if it were a kosher restaurant or meal. You can't claim something is halal just because someone verbally says it.
So for non halal eaters no worries, enjoy.
But the rest of the family, maybe check out the other options like the Somali or Turkish restaurant nearby.

The best Indian food in Anchorage hands down! We had the chicken samosa, keema naan, butter chicken, and the chicken bunha, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! The service and the servers are great as well. Overall a fantastic experience, we will definitely be coming back again.
I’ve eaten there a few times and the food was great! However this last time the chicken pakora was under cooked I got very sick for 2 days.

Worst ever dine in place in US so far.
We are vegetarians and ordered kadai paneer, raita and Tandoori roti and Onion Kulcha, this can be the simplest order, but this restaurant serves everything stale. The least any restaurant can serve to you is fresh food, but this restaurant was the worst. Also the staff was not even friendly, said this is the best thing we can serve. Tandoori roti and Kulcha plate had hair in it.
I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone who follows vegetarian diet. They are literally bad.

Terrific food. The vegetable samosas are hands-down the best I've ever had (and I've eaten Indian food every chance I get for decades). I've been three times in that many months, and have yet to be able to have dessert. The portions are quite generous.
It isn't fast-food, so don't wait until hungry to show up. It is worth the wait.
Vegetarian options: This is Indian cuisine - they've perfected flavorful vegetarian dishes. Taste of India has a large selection of vegetarian items.

Absolutely incredible food! Every dish we’ve had there has been so flavorful. The lamb tikka masala is our favorite, followed closely by the veggie pakoras and malai kofta. The staff is so friendly and kind too. This is our go-to place that never disappoints!!

Didn’t like the texture of palak in palak paneer. Naan was good

Mango kulfi as so bad. It doesn’t even taste like Kulfi.
Mango lassi and rice smelled bad.

The food was expensive and quite different from traditional Indian dishes.
All the starters had the same base, and for the first time, I was served chicken tandoori with a gravy made from onions and bell peppers.
The staff seemed a bit disoriented and did not accommodate any of our requests.

Wanted to try something different and have never been to this restuaraunt before so ordered Butter Chicken with Tikka Chicken Masala. The customer service was great, but my biggest complaint, and the reason for the one star review was hygiene/cleaniless...There were flies everywhere inside the store and I found a human hair in my rice. First and last time at this place. There's no telling what other disgusting things were in my food before I noticed

We discovered a culinary gem in Anchorage today! My husband and I visited Taste of India for the first time, and the experience was truly exceptional. The food was outstanding, with tender and flavorful lamb and goat meat in the Tika masala dishes. We were impressed that they accommodated my request for goat Tika masala, even though it's not on the menu. The onion Naan was delicious, and the basmati rice was perfectly cooked - fluffy and moist.
What stood out was the quality of the meat; my husband noted that it was cartilage-free, a rarity in his experience with many restaurants. The owner and waiters were polite, knowledgeable, and happy to help.
We're thrilled to have found this hidden gem and can't wait to return. Taste of India ?? has earned two new customers. If you're craving authentic and delicious Indian cuisine in Anchorage, look no further!
