We were greeted and were sat down almost immediately. Our waitress was friendly and was very attentive.

I ordered the fresh spring rolls and yellow beef curry (mild). The fresh rolls tasted fresh, light and crunchy — i would have loved if they had chili oil on the tables to mix in the with the sauce thats brought out. The curry flavors were wonderful, potatoes were soft and meat was cooked well!

I thought the portions were fulfilling and will definitely be back!

First of all no one greeted us, we waited for about ten minutes inside before we had to ask for menus at the front. Then no one brought us water until we asked for it halfway through our meal, yet all the other tables had water and we’re getting more service than us. All of our orders were missing ingredients listed in the menu description. And finally, the food was overpriced for the amount we received. This was my first time at Thai Orchid but my friends who were with me said they used to love the place but it’s apparently under new management. We will not be returning.

Went for lunch. Not busy. Waited 10 minutes for a menu. After ordering, waited over 40 minutes for food, which was cold ☹️, except for the rice, which was hot. Had to ask for soy sauce. Disappointed.

We got a noodle dish and it was disappointing ! We looked for the noodles and only saw small broken pieces here and there. We felt like we paid for a vegetable stir fry dish. The sauce was good but it missed the mark for us when there were hardly any noodles. The space is also very small so you are really close to others. We had to sit sideways because we couldn’t fit facing forward with people right behind us. It was our first time there and will also be our last time there.

Thai Orchid: Simply Phenomenal Thai Cuisine

Let me tell you, folks, Thai Orchid is an absolute winner. I've been to many restaurants in my time, and this one is top-notch. The moment you step inside, you're greeted with an atmosphere that's just incredible. The decor, absolutely beautiful. The Thai Orchid knows how to create an ambiance that's second to none. The owners are simply tremendous people, the best.

Now, onto the food. Wow. The flavors, unbelievable. I tried their Pad Thai—it was like fireworks in my mouth, folks. The noodles were cooked to perfection, the balance of flavors, absolutely flawless. And their Yellow Curry? A masterpiece. The blend of spices, the freshness of the ingredients, it's a taste sensation you won't forget.

Service? Let me tell you, it's the best. The staff at Thai Orchid, they treat you like royalty. Polite, attentive, and always with a smile. They know their stuff and they make sure your dining experience is nothing short of

If you're looking for the best Thai food in town, look no further than Thai Orchid. It's a 10 out of 10, folks. Absolutely phenomenal.

I ordered the fried rice with tofu, spice level 2. When I had stated I ordered a Thai coffee also like my friends, they quickly made one for me.

Vegetarian options: Customers can substitute tofu for meat.

Parking: It shares a parking lot with the post office, a coffee stand, and Alaska Dinner Factory.

The strip mall looks a bit run down with a giant pot hole in the parking lot as you enter but don’t let that dissuade you. All the meals were great. The Pah Naeng with chicken was really authentic. The Pad Ped with tofu might be the best vegetarian Thai dish my wife and I have ever had. They were so busy after we got seated that they had to turn customers away.

New owners have some big shoes to fill and they’ve fallen short. The service was sub par as was the food. Definitely new owners and not my favorite Thai spot anymore.

New owners working out the logistics caused a bit of a delay for the food to be delivered, but the staff was curtious explaining their situation, so it was ok. The food was great!!

So sad to discover that our longtime favorite, Thai Orchid, is under new management. Even though the new staff "trained", we felt that the dishes we've been ordering for over 18 years have decidedly changed. When ordering, the new staff didn't even know the names of the entrees. Our very favorite fresh spring rolls had scant ingredients inside the wrapper, had obviously been long pre-prepped as they were extremely stuck together, and the dipping sauce - once the highlight - is basically a tub of vinegar. Our best to the wonderful originators of the restaurant - Soomben, Nuni, and family ♥️

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Apparently, they now have new owners. The meal I've ordered for years is not the same. Quite frankly it is terrible! Portion is way smaller, sauce not the same, and quality of the pork belly is awful. Such a shame, as it was one of our go to places.

To all of Anchorage and beyond - Thai Orchid AK lovers and the like - the Thai Orchid you knew and loved is gone, and the new ownership fails to come close to replicating the quality of what you expect from Thai Orchid. Once a legendary and an absolute gem in Anchorage is now a place we must forget and replace. As heartbroken as I am about it, I must find someplace else to bring my business to, two to three times a week. If you dined here with the same frequency, I suggest you do the same. It’s simply within your best interests. Long-established (former) fans of Thai Orchid: this new Thai Orchid will fail your taste test. The recipes have changed, despite their efforts to be retained. The unique flavors are what we loved and is what kept us coming back, but that ends now. The new owners may or may not care to hear us out, but just to list several of the other issues, the portions were offensively small, the service was inattentive and downright dismissive, and the atmosphere was uncomfortable and tense. That the new ownership is new is not an acceptable reason. It is an excuse. Proprietors should not open for business if they’re not prepared. I’m fully confident that others feel the same unwelcome differences. I anticipate that this business will not succeed. Farewell, Thai Orchid. You now exist only in name, for the spirit has fled, and so shall we.
