Highly recommend. Good food, good coffee, great vibes.
It’s always fun to try new-to-us places! We stumbled upon this coffee shop and bookstore on the way to a nearby Japanese event and just had to try it! My sweet, thoughtful & giving sister gave me the gift of doing something fun for my birthday to treat myself and this is what I chose! I’m so glad that I did because it was a great experience. The person who took our order was pleasant, patient, helpful and kind. I had the chai tea latte with soy milk and it was so flavorful and absolutely delicious! I’ve been craving one everyday since! My kids got the cheese panini (grilled cheese) and gave it a thumbs up. I tried Shakshouka for the first time and it was so good! 😋 My kids enjoyed the Wi-Fi and we all enjoyed the live music by Dawson Gentleman. He was transparent, talented and authentic. Parking is limited but that didn’t deter us. A space opened up right as we pulled in which was perfect. 🙂
Atmosphere was great, comfortable seating and music in the background made it relaxing but the service was mediocre. I bought a brownie that was so hard it must have been sitting on display for days.

I went to writers block for the first time on a Sunday at 12pm. I was surprised they had live music playing from 12pm-2pm. They have breakfast /brunch food and coffee. It's such a cute place to grab food and hang out with friends. I will definitely be coming back again

The name of the place intrigued us, so we walked there, and there was a singer/songwriter/guitarist playing! He's called Baker, @Bakerbakermusicmaker, and he was very talented. The food was good and the atmosphere very laid back. Lots of books line the cafe.

Cool local spot with warm your soul eats and a nicely curated selection of books. Well labeled sections with a children’s area, Pride Month picks and local Alaskan Authors. The cafe was busy even on July 4th with a tempting drink menu of coffee and spirits as well as Hot Chocolate for the littles. We got the Beans and Rice Bowl with Reindeer Sausage (the sausage is ELITE!), Beet & Mint Salad, and the Taboule Salad. Everything was so fresh and served with huge smiles!!!
Vegetarian options: Everything is well labeled for Vegetarian and GF options.
Kid-friendliness: My girls were treated so well. From perusing through bookstore to ordering in the cafe - it was a warm, family-friendly feeling throughout.
Wheelchair accessibility: First floor. Easily accessible throughout cafe and bookstore.
