Great place in a beautiful location. The bakery is nice for a quick breakfast before getting out on the water. The owners and entire staff is extremely accommodating to guests needs.
Walkability: Without other means of travel, walking can be necessary. It's a short hike to the harbor.
Noteworthy details: Chris runs a great operation with the boat rentals for DIY fishing trips. He provides enough information to have a successful trip.

I also feel like I've reviewed this place in the past, but if I haven't, let me say that it's the only place to get dinner or breakfast this time of year in Hoonah Alaska. That being said, they're trivia night every Wednesday is really fun, the meals are expensive but reasonably priced for being on an island where everything has to be shipped in by boat or by plane. I just wish I could understand the Google system better because it seems like it keep getting the same places that when I rate them or post on them I still get them again to have to do again, and I don't understand that, but that has nothing to do with icy straight Lodge, and it would be nice if Google Assistant was recognized that when I say something like icy straight Lodge it should capitalize the first letter of all three words without me having to do it.

My dad and I rented a boat for a day. Unbelievable price for what you get, we caught halibut, sea bass, rock fish. We saw orcas, whales, sea lions and otters. I would highly recommend icy strait lodge for your fishing boat needs. 10x better than going in a charter.

Rooms: The room have comfortable beds, loveseat, mini fridge, microwave and table with chairs. The room was clean. The walls are very thin as you can clearly hear conversations in the rooms on each side.
Nearby activities: The lodge offers car and boat rentals which is great. There is a nearby park with a playground and restrooms. Kayaking and Zipline activities are located at Icy Strait Point.
Food & drinks: Breakfast, lunch and dinner are offered but the limited hours are not convenient for tourists enjoying nearby activities. Breakfast doesn't start until 9am. The restaurant closes at 7:30pm as does the kitchen, so you cannot order food from the bar. It would be great if they offered even just pizza at the bar to take back to your room.

On our recent Alaskan cruise we had a stop at Icy Straight Point. We prefer to do independent adventures whenever possible so we rented a car for the day from Icy Strait Lodge. The instructions to get from the cruise port to the lodge were easy to follow. We rented a Kia SUV which was clean and well maintained. The owner, Ed, gave us a map of the area which included logging roads which we explored in search of wildlife. We enjoyed a relaxing day in nature and saw some bears, a whale and bald eagles.

Icy Strait lodge went above and beyond for my group!! They are so friendly, helpful, and accommodating and really made us feel like part of the family. Honestly I’ve never stayed anywhere as friendly and accommodating as this lodge. If I could give more stars I would!! Make sure to be there Tuesday night for trivia night!! The host was hilarious and it was a great time to be had by all. Oh and the fudge! How could I forget the fudge?! We ate so much fudge and fries. It was a trip I’ll never forget!

We rented a car for a 9am pickup it was a very rainy day and we needed to get a cab from the cruise ship terminal to the lodge only to find out the one cab in town run by the lodge by the way was not operating that day! Luckily our cruise ship shuttle driver was kind enough to the lodge which was a about a 1/2 mile from the shuttle stop (my husband walks with a cane so walking was not an option) we arrived around 8:45 knowing we would need to wee at it until 9 when they opened but 9 came and they did not open no email response no calls answered. Finally around 9:15 Christina showed up my to have to finish the lodge paperwork from the night before before she could process our rental we were very pressed for time being we had to be back on our ship by 11:30 I would not recommend renting a car from here the bad part is if you need a car this is the only place to get it so you are a captive audience like in an airport you have no choice!

My husband stayed at the ISL while out of town for work. He was gone on his birthday. I called up the front desk on Tuesday evening and asked if they could possibly do something special for him on his birthday (the next day). They had cupcakes for him, made a card of printed off pictures of my kids and I that I emailed (Christina’s idea!), balloons, and snuck up on him in the bar and sang happy birthday to him. He was completely surprised and had a fun and memorable 35th birthday even though he wasn’t home with us in Indiana. I am so thankful for Christina and the staff at ISL for making his birthday special for him since we weren’t able to. I cannot begin to express how grateful I am! My husband enjoyed his stay at the lodge very much! We hope to make a trip together in the future and stay at the lodge! Thanks so much everyone!

As we explored Icy Straight we walked to this lodge off the strip!!! It was the cutest place, barb the owner opened the bar alittle early for us and we even did alittle karaoke. We hung out Drank many rounds of drinks and enjoyed the beautiful view from the patio. We needed to head back to the ship! We could not catch a taxi we asked barb if we could pay for her to be our taxi back into town and she was so sweet and happy to help us! Thanks Barbara for the hospitality we love Alaska and we will be back!!!!
