The place is super cute! Nice owner!
If you’re in Ketchikan and haven’t been to Island Brew Cafe, you’re missing the heart of this town in a cup.
Tucked away but impossible to forget, this place serves the best coffee in Ketchikan—hands down. Smooth, rich, expertly roasted—it’s clear the beans are treated with respect, and so are the people. And that’s what sets Island Brew Cafe apart.
Sam, the proprietor, is part barista, part local legend. He doesn’t just pour coffee—he pours warmth. Whether you’re a cruise traveler passing through or a local who comes in daily, Sam somehow makes time for everyone. He’s a ray of British cheer in this Alaskan rain, greeting each guest with that unmistakable blend of joy, curiosity, and genuine care.
And then there’s the food. The cinnamon rolls are unforgettable—soft, warm, and perfectly sweet, like a love letter to comfort itself. The cookies are massive, indulgent, and (let’s be honest) half the reason I come here in the first place. You’ll think you’re just getting a coffee, but you’ll leave with a favorite place, a great conversation, and a craving to come back.
If you’re in Ketchikan—even for a day—don’t miss Island Brew Cafe. It’s not just a coffee stop. It’s a stop-you-in-your-tracks experience.
Best espresso I've had in town yet. Workers were friendly even with the ungodly busyness from the cruise ships.
Absolutely Smashing!
This place is a MUST VISIT—no two ways about it. Sam, the owner, is a comedic genius disguised as a barista. I’m convinced he moonlights as a stand-up comic. The customer service? Top-tier. You’ll feel like royalty (without the pressure of waving properly). The coffee is phenomenal, and Sam can whip up even the most absurdly complicated order with the precision of a caffeinated wizard. Pop in—you won’t regret it.
Even Jesus approves
Ordered the blueberry scone and it was one of the best I’ve ever had! And the coffee and service were excellent. Will definitely be back.

Cappuccino was just ok. Coffee was very expensive. Nice, quiet atmosphere. John Denver playing quietly.

We found this lovely coffee shop during our Alaskan cruise. The food, coffee, service, and atmosphere were all 5-star worthy. I bought a bag pf coffee beans to take home and I'm having a cup right now! My new favorite coffee! If you find yourself in Ketchikan, I highly recommend stopping by.
