“Water so good it should be illegal!”
Okay, I know this sounds dramatic—but the water at The Asylum is next-level. I don’t know what kind of filtration sorcery they’re using, but it’s crisp, cold, and honestly the best water I’ve ever had in my life. Like, if you told me it was bottled straight from a glacier blessed by monks, I’d believe you.
But let’s talk about the real star here: Ciarra. She served the water like it was a fine wine. Perfect pour, perfect temperature, and she somehow made me feel like drinking water was a five-star experience. Friendly, attentive, and had the kind of vibe that makes you feel like you’ve been friends for years.
I came for a drink, stayed for the hydration, and left wondering if I could tip someone just for bringing me H2O. (Spoiler: I did.)
If you go to The Asylum and don’t ask for Ciarra’s water service… did you even really go?

This is across the street from Artic Bar.. this is where the locals drink.. met a slew of fishermen here.. Learned alot about Alaska and had the best of times.. See picture ? I learned where Bubweiser comes from.. direct line from bathroom keg to the bar..

Excellent experience. Folks are kind and chatty, definitely not a boring time to be had. Great selection of Alaskan beers and liquors. Food comes from Burger Queen, right next door. Had the Sriracha Bacon Burger; it was excellent! Don't miss this spot for a drink and a bite to eat, right on the other side of the tunnel from the cruise port.

Wheelchair accessibility: Front door access is a little steep but not overly I was taken care of as to my choice of non alcoholic beer ? A great place ??

We didn't food but I wanted to make sure they have a great rating. Fun, quirky, great service, and cheap draft! Very happy we stopped in. It's right across the street from where our ship was docked.

Absolute best bar i have been to. The atmosphere was amazing and the conversation were natural and fun. Both the bartender and other locals were incredibly inviting. My husband and I were celebrating our honeymoon and every other guest there celebrated with us. The local liquors and beers were amazing to try and taste. Plus the bartenders knowledge was intriguing to hear. 10/10 recommend to be your local bar visit.

Loftin Adventures
One of the bars we always go to when we are in Ketchikan before departing for our fishing trip. They have amazing bloody Mary’s, make it a double, Golden Tee and home to the Duck Fart shot. Just try it at least once. They have outdoor seating are next Burger Queen. The only bad thing I have to say about this place are the gnats or “no see’ums” that fly around the bar. They are there every year I have gone.
