Sourdough Bar & Liquor Store is a nice local bar and liquor store at the edge of the dock, right where the boats let off. There could be no better location for this dive bar, smack dab in the middle of the cruise ship docks. It has a corner bar vibe and eclectic decor to match, with walls covered in Alaska history. The place features a modern juke, a couple of pool tables, darts, shuffleboard, pulltabs, and plenty of seating.

The staff is wonderful, great, very friendly, and helpful, doing their best to keep people happy. Service is great and people are served quickly. The drinks are cold and good, with prices that are very reasonable and decent for Ketchikan, about $5.50 each. They do not have food, though sometimes staff will bring in a crockpot of something delicious to share. The attached liquor store up front also sells Sourdough Cocktail Bar merchandise.

It is a relaxed vibe and a fun, talkative place with a lot of local color, acting as a watering hole for locals. When cruise ships are in, it can get a little crowded with people passing through, creating an ever-changing crowd. It is a place for adults, offering a genuine and accommodating Alaskan bar experience without pretense.
