Absolutely the best food in Kodiak. Highly recommend the Black Cod, but everything we tried was delicious.

It smelled amazing walking up to it. Got seated quickly, but it took a little long to get checked on for the first time. Not horrible by any means, just a little long. We ordered vegetable tempura, the sushi B, and chicken katsu. The veg tempura was cooked well and tasted fine. It was just a little skimpy. Now, I know fresh veggies on Kodiak are not necessarily cheap, but I feel like another piece or two would have made it feel worth it. The sushi B was pretty good. I can't say anything bad at all. Very well done. The tuna really melted in my mouth as did the other fish. Kudos on that dish. Now the katsu. I will preface with the fact that I am used to the katsu at Hawaiian restaurants that is made with dark meat. I love chicken Katsu. But this was made with very thin white meat. The portion was actually great. But it was just too dry to enjoy. I only ate half of it and didn't even bring the rest home. And that is unheard of for me. Also, the dipping sauce tasted like it was just A-1 steak sauce. Not really what I was expecting.With those dishes and a soda, with exactly 15% tip, our bill came to $75.23.Get the sushi, beware the tempura portion size, and do not get the katsu.And lastly, the men's bathroom was kind of gross.

came to dine the other night and was disappointed. i contacted them as well so they’re aware of the issue!! you will get scammed by menu pricing!! apparently what it says on their website and their own menu is not what they’re charging you for. they upcharged me close to $20 extra just because they “recently changed their menu pricing” but didn’t apply it to the menu. very unprofessional!! who does that?

I felt the whole experience was just meh. Service was slow. Our food came out in a very odd order and my chowder was basically cool. I waited for my black cod and it was so unworth the wait; tender, sure, but really no flavor... just sweet. Then at the end, our sushi order came. Just not impressed, and we've been sitting here for 20 minutes not eating and no server has even checked on us.

So to protect my privacy I’m using a different name. but behind me today and woman showed a waitress her bill because they feared they overcharged her and they did apparently. instead of fixing the problem, they totally gaslit her and said they upped the menu pricing without changing it on their menu. they still charged her the extra amount of money which was very unprofessional. i went outside and told her she handled it with class because i would have made a scene. businesses make mistakes and i understand that but if you want to run a business do it correctly and make sure that the people that are paying for your services want to come back. it was EXTREMELY unprofessional…I hope the woman that this happened to sees this because she said she was afraid to say something about it. She may not but I will. DO BETTER HANA!! FIND THIS WOMAN AND APOLOGIZE!!

AMAZING SUSHI. I've tried some of the entrees and they are good but the sushi rolls are OUTSTANDING. I especially recommend the Crunchy Shrimp Roll, Shrimp Kodiak Roll, and Black Jack roll. The geoza (not sure I'm spelling that right) and shumai are also BREATHTAKINGLY GOOD. The staff also so nice and accommodating. The restaurant is beautiful and has an amazing view of the ocean. Highly recommend this place if you are in Kodiak!!

We dined in for dinner and I have to say, the sushi was a big disappointment. Small portion, unreasonably pricy, Golden Roll was sour, Eel Roll was too salty. Only thing that was great was the Rib Eye wine Sauce. Service was ok, the kid who cleans up the tables Stood by our table asking if we're done with our plates and rushed my husband to finish the last pieces of sushi, my husband was still enjoying his wine sauce while the cleaner stood there waiting for him to hurry up with it. Need to leave customers alone until they're finish with their food!

Visited this place during a group trip to Kodiak Island. As essentially the only Japanese restaurant on the island, it has effectively what is a monopoly. But it doesn't get too complacent about such a status. I had not eaten lunch the past three days because I was too busy catching a lot of fish, so I was really looking forward to finally sitting down and having a proper lunch. The service was super quick and efficient -- I called to place a pickup order and they had it ready when I drove over from my Airbnb. I ordered the soft shell crab roll as well as the shrimp roll. When I arrived to pick up the order, I noticed they had sweet shrimp (amaebi) as well as Tanner crab (local specialty crab) nigiri and I definitely had to pick up one of each. I liked everything I ordered and the Tanner crab was definitely the highlight of them all. So sweet, tender and umami-filled. Should've skipped the soft shell crab roll (the only letdown of the bunch, wasn't as good as the sushi restaurants in CA) and ordered like 6 more of the Tanner crab nigiris. If they have it on the menu, do yourself a favor and get a couple.
