My top choice for food in Kodiak! Great food selections with local foods
Beware - The menu says “salmon melt,” but I got it and it does NOT include a piece of salmon at all. It’s actually some kind of crappy salmon-salad-spread they call “salmon.” It barely tastes like salmon. In my opinion - it tastes like a tiny piece of salmon that was run through a blender then added to a whole bunch of condiments and spread on sourdough toast. I will NEVER eat there again.
I was with a large group of folks in town for a conference and the event organizers planned a social gathering over at Double Shovel but Nuniaq brought everyone’s food orders over from across the street. I had the salmon melt - delicious, warm, flavorful, comfort food! I also grabbed a slice of sweet potato cheesecake to go and it was pure heaven!
Great food, cute renovations, it’s just unfortunately overpriced. Every food item on the menu is overpriced. Had the gyro today and it was tasty, but it shouldn’t be $18.
Amazing food, amazing service, & an amazing atmosphere...it's triple A rated!!!
Delicious food, especially the fry bread
I have enjoyed everything I have ever ordered. Knowing that this is locally owned and operated is a huge plus!
Excellent food! Super tasty and large portions! Great service!
There are not a lot of good dining options in Kodiak. We wandered around the downtown area a bit and the places there seemed tired and the menus heavy on fried stuff. I’d marked Nuniaq on my Google Map as the place I thought we should have lunch. Walking in was a refreshing change. Very few tourists but mainly locals filled the place. You could see into the kitchen and it was very neat. The menu has some nice local twists utilising local seafood. I got the salmon melt and my wife got the cod/jalapeno melt. Both were outstanding. The service at the counter was friendly and the place is very clean, especially the restrooms. Definitely the lunch of choice in Kodiak.

Service is unbelievably slow. The cashier gave some excuses, but that doesn't get us our food. The least they could have done is warn us it would be an hour (seriously) wait for the food! Not going back!

Not really local food. Hard to figure out what their menu was. They do not print menu.

We've waited an hour and still haven't gotten our food. I can't review the food because we haven't gotten it and have to leave
By far the best place to eat in Kodiak! Absolutely loved my food! (This place has the freshest greens for salad) def recommend

I was just passing through Kodiak, and stopped by this fast casual restaurant. Despite it being labeled as “Native American cuisine”, it carries mainly familiar foods such as sandwiches, wraps, tacos and nachos. The fresh, locally-sourced ingredients are what make this food outstanding. I had the Baja Cod Tacos, and my companion had a Grilled Cheese and Halibut sandwich. Most of the food looks incredible, and I’d definitely recommend it.
