There are not a lot of good dining options in Kodiak. We wandered around the downtown area a bit and the places there seemed tired and the menus heavy on fried stuff. I’d marked Nuniaq on my Google Map as the place I thought we should have lunch. Walking in was a refreshing change. Very few tourists but mainly locals filled the place. You could see into the kitchen and it was very neat. The menu has some nice local twists utilising local seafood. I got the salmon melt and my wife got the cod/jalapeno melt. Both were outstanding. The service at the counter was friendly and the place is very clean, especially the restrooms. Definitely the lunch of choice in Kodiak.

Service is unbelievably slow. The cashier gave some excuses, but that doesn't get us our food. The least they could have done is warn us it would be an hour (seriously) wait for the food! Not going back!

Not really local food. Hard to figure out what their menu was. They do not print menu.

We've waited an hour and still haven't gotten our food. I can't review the food because we haven't gotten it and have to leave

I was just passing through Kodiak, and stopped by this fast casual restaurant. Despite it being labeled as “Native American cuisine”, it carries mainly familiar foods such as sandwiches, wraps, tacos and nachos. The fresh, locally-sourced ingredients are what make this food outstanding. I had the Baja Cod Tacos, and my companion had a Grilled Cheese and Halibut sandwich. Most of the food looks incredible, and I’d definitely recommend it.

Consistently wonderful! I love to share this place with locals and visitors, especially for people who are passionate about food! Melissa sources local and today I had a gorgeous Dungeness crab Benedict that was on point! We also had cinnamon swirl pancakes that had fantastic texture and flavor. This is a MUST for foodies.

Amazing and wonderful place to eat! So good that we took food to go from their deli case! Thank you so much and see you again❤️💪🏽

If you are in Kodiak, you must visit.
Best seafood chowder I have ever had (and that is my favorite food, I’ve tried it worldwide.) LOVED it so much that we bought an order for takeout and had it for dinner!!
The Cod jalapeño popper grilled cheese was also really good. Just the right amount of spice.
Husband loved ?the cannoli cupcake, while I preferred the chocolate fudge cookie.

Only minimal downgrade was the service was slightly slow. However, I presume it is because they were so busy, between diners and take out.

Definitely a popular place.

Love the food but took forever to come out (longer than 30 mins). Asked to have a refund since we were on a time crunch but the cashier rudely responded,” your food is already made. Do you just want a box?” I agreed but was not happy about her attitude and rudeness. Still recommend but be warned, the food takes forever to come out.

This is a very nice restaurant with a good variety of dishes to try and is run by locals. There is always a daily special section to choose from and tasty local crabs. Overall, it was a good experience having lunch here.
